you have to make sure that your modem has the same ip. There is a chance it has a different mac address or ip.

look at the back of the modem and check. Or you could check it from the netwrok configuration. Follow my instruction on my advanced security video . WPA

it is the mac address.

you could see which one it is from your network, double click the connection , properties, details.

Worst case, try all three and see which one prompts you for a password and user name

I can't get into my router...

On the backside of my router it says standard access point is: 192.168.0.50.

But it won't work. When I go to 192.168.1.1, I access my ISP modem, but from there I can't set a Wireless Password or in any way configure my D-Link Wireless router.

is that the only address you see on the back on your wireless Dlink router?

is your isp modem wireless or it is wired? If it is wireless then there is no need for your DLINK router. If not then you should take out the wire that is going directly from your ISP router to your computer and plug it to the back of your dlink instead then connect "usb or ethernet" the Dlink to your computer.

from there try to log back the ips and see oif this works?

ur isp should not go directly to ur computer!!

make sure you reset it first, then try. Worst case, call their support. Ususally you can get a rep after a couple of options. He will ask for the model thentell you the pass.

ok, You have to diagnose that the problem is from the router or from the computer:

1-is it a new router?

2-what operaing system are you using?

3-do you have another computer you can possibly try to connect from?Maybe even an ipod or wireless device.

4-did you shutoff the router for5 minutes after setting the configurations?

5-watch the other videoi have for wap and try to set the advanced security settings.

I locked my neighbors today. They had an unsecured linksys router. The network name and SSID believes to tell me that they left there router on default settings.

So i use the default to log into the router. Now i have access to the router because they felt to take the steps of securing there router.

They can use your connection to download illegal content.

This is true people believe it or not. Secure your router before somebody breaks in!

1-you need to do the setup only once on one computer, 2-then go to the other computer, scan for wireless network and you will see the secure one there.

3-choose it then enter your passcode

couple of things to look for:

1-did you connect using the correct password you have set up?

2-if you have a firewall try to disable it then connect to the network (if you have setup the password correctly)

good but DO NOT USE WEP!!!! it can be cracked in under 5 minutes and in some cases under 1 minute-use WPA or better yet WPA2 since they are very hard to crack

yeah. unfortunately You must reset the whole router. there is a button that you can click using a paper clip, it is a hidden reset button. all router have it. once you reset it your pass must go back to defaults.

make sure you got the right iP from the bottom of your router. not necessarily yours is like mine. type the whole ip in the browser. nothing before or after

Try the same ip i use in the tutorial. if it didnt work then:

FOR PC: go to network connections-> right click the wireless network you wish to secure-> status-> details.

it is usually next to: IPv4 Default Gateway.

FOR MAC: click on the wireless icon "Top right"-> open network preference->TCP/IP and it should be next to Router.

Try to install the advanced security i have the video for.

no problem. You should also try the WPA advanced security as the WEP is vulnerable and easy to break. Just watch the other video ihave on that.

i just got my router yesterday. i set the network up with this network magic program that came with it, but no where during the set up did i see anything bout making it a secure connection. so now its un secure and i dont know how to fix that. would this process be the same? or different where i used this network magic?

never used the program but they must have it as an option. if your router is on their list: check on the product site for the list(cannot post the link as you tube will take it as spam)

if your router is not lister then try this:

1-shut down network magic

2-configure security with your windows connection manager.

3-watch my other video WPA advanced it is a stronger security and as easy to do.

4- when all working, launch magic network and see if it configures it and asks for pass.
