what are you talking about? lax goalies have tons of pads...they just dont wear stuff on their legs because they have a huge stick and the shots are more towards the upper body, whereas the field hockey goalies have tiny sticks, and the majority of their saves involve the legs. plus a field hockey ball is a lot harder than a lax ball
however, playing both sports, and a lacrosse goalie, i would say that the lacrosse ball hurts much more... it is denser and completely solid, whereas the field hockey ball is hollow in the center, and lighter. Needless to say, I still don't want to get hit by either.
you must live in the states...real hockey balls look like baseballs when the cover comes off. USA junior and high school teams use a hollow ball...Some (not all ) NCAA D-1 teams use the "real ball" some do not because of how much they cost

I said it was cool and i realy like the idea but i dont understand why a short stick would be an advantage, and how a longer stick would be better in my opinion. I also mentioned the nets which in my opinion are too big, this must disadvantage the goalies alot and i belive with smaller nets, each goal would be even more exciting.
a smaller net is more suited to ice hockey than field hockey since the ice rink is a lot smaller than a hockey pitch. making the nets smaller would, in my opinion, dry up the goals in matches and make it less attack and more defense favourable = boring for spectators..
The real entertainers of this game are Pakistan, India and Dutch. They always play the open games. All other teams pay more attention to marking rather an open game.

lol, it was at Barcelona the 30th of July where the Dutch men took the last greatest title, namely the Champions Trophy (they won against Germany, 2-1)
