IN the days of the prophets,many if not most ancient cultures worshiped trinities, except of course God's chosen people, who worshiped one God. Dr. Missler if a fine teacher, but he's pushing baptist dogma here instead of biblical truth. Isa 43:10-11 manifestly declares God to be a single individual, not a heavenly committee.
This is one point where I break from Chuck. The Lord himself says "Hear O Israel, YHVH your God is ONE!" he didn't use the phrase "there is one God" (although there clearly is only one God), but that God Himself, in being, essence, nature, person and in every way is ONE...not three...ONE! I don't take a doctrine as my own unless the Bible says it verbatim. Never once does the bible use the word "Godhead," and never once does it say that God is three persons eternally existing in one. NEVER!
How can a man as intelligent as this guy say that the Trinity is clearly taught in the NT?
There is not one single verse in the entire bible that teaches that God is a 3 person God. Surely a book that reveals God to us, where God is mentioned more than anyone else, would tell us He is a Trinity.

and Jesus is the Son of God and subordinate to the Father

"God" means- Divinity, there is only one Divinity (God).In that Divinity is a Creator, a first begotten son (Jesus), and many other children who are also divine, because they are born of divinity! @all66books I have given you how I can easily refute any verse that you point out. If you can't see it then you haven't paid much attention. I know all about the Trinity Doctrine and the verses and arguments proponents of this doctrine uses. If you want to continue to believe the way you do that's perfectly fine. All secrets will be revealed in due time. What's been revealed so far is God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ and this is justified by the Spirit of God. I will not go beyond that.
Again I want to reiterate from an earlier post - is that certain christians(individuals,groups,churches) use the Trinity Doctrine as a litmus test to being a true christian. This doctrine whether true or not is not essential to your salvation. The Grace of God and the sacrifies of our Lord Jesus Christ is what saves us and reconcile us to God. The Bible uses personifications, the word wisdom is personified many times and guess what? so is the Spirit of God is personified many times.
Anyone who knows the Bible at all will readily acknowledge that the Law of Moses was given directly through YHWH to Moses. Yet the writer of Hebrews so readily identifies the Holy Spirit as God that he describes in detail the most sacred sanctuary ordinances and ascribes them as being the work of the Holy Spirit (Heb 9:8).

There are over 12 different ways to use the word spirit in the english language. If you do a word search for spirit in the Bible you will find that spirit is used in other ways besides the Spirit of God. Ex: spirit of Jacob; spirit of wisdom; spirit of jealously; spirit of man and so on. So base on your logic why do you conclude spirit = person?

He would NEVER have referred to the Holy Spirit as the"finger of God" knowing the pentatuch as He did unless He was certain that the Holy Spirit was God. Other descriptions of spirit are basically you can attach emotions, such as will, enthusiasm, disposition, attitude and so on. So when I say my spirit is grieved, low, or depressed I’m not saying there is another person in me feeling that way but it is the state of my being at the moment, so that should explain some of the verses you pointed out. @DLando This is very simply explained by the doctrine of the Trinity - three distinct persons, yet one God. This is very clearly seen in the great commission verse of Matthew 28:19: "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit..." The NAME of, singular , three Persons. That's three in one. That's what/Who YHWH is.

@all66books Simply put Trinity Doctrine = Doctrine of Men. If you are Christian and I am a Christian we are fellowshipping right here on the internet. So yes God fellowships with us via His Spirit. And 3 does not equal 1. The big picture is Trinity Doctrine becomes a hindrance to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. @DLando Whether someone else is truly in Christ or not is not for me to determine; that's Gods determination. What I know for a fact is what the word says: "However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him." (Romans 8:9). Indeed, we are sealed by the Holy Spirit unto the day of redemption (Eph. 4:30); this we recieve upon belief in Christ (John 7:37-39; Eph. 1:13-14).
@all66books Speaking personally, a scripture which is of constant reassurance to me is "The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God". I have found this to be an almost daily reality & occurence in my life, during good days and bad, on days when my faith is at a high, or on days when I am feeling pretty chewed up/faithless. @richard4president I never said Jesus is not God, there are enough support for Jesus Deity in the Bible for me to accept Jesus is God...but there are not enough support for the Spirit of God to be a separate person, no definitve verse for me to accept the Spirit of God to be a person. Just a thought - God and Jesus has a relation, Father and Son so what about the Spirit of God - Uncle, Brother, Friend, Close Friend? How about Grandpa? The answer is none of these, Spirit of God=not a person.
There are many words personified in the Bible like wisdom, blood, water, wind, etc. does that make the word a person? No it does not. There is not a clear verse that shows the Spirit of God is a person. Instead it is only what people make them to be, a conclusion.

Yes, according to Ephesians 4:8-10 and 1 Peter 3:18-20, Jesus did go to the lower parts of the earth(Hades) and preached to the "spirits in prison", but did not "suffer" in Hades after his death on the cross because His death was the bloodshed sufficient for the remission/forgiveness of our sins

@JayEss2k maybe it is just using the trinity aspect of those symbols. The interconnected circles is also a math symbol... Quite possibly, any good symbol has a bad meaning as well, since Satan mocks anything that is important to God.
The opposing arguement for JESUS prayer is that GOD THE SON prayed to GOD THE FATHER, I do not believe this, I believe THE SON OF GOD prayed to GOD THE FATHER, the MAN prayed to GOD,.. but for me to believe that one PERSON or part of GOD can pray to another person or part of God and still maintain the claim of monothiesm is not acceptable to me. IN the days of the prophets,many if not most ancient cultures worshiped trinities, except of course God's chosen people, who worshiped one God. This is one point where I break from Chuck. The Lord himself says "Hear O Israel, YHVH your God is ONE!" he didn't use the phrase "there is one God" (although there clearly is only one God), but that God Himself, in being, essence, nature, person and in every way is ONE...not three...ONE! I don't take a doctrine as my own unless the Bible says it verbatim. Never once does the bible use the word "Godhead," and never once does it say that God is three persons eternally existing in one. NEVER!

Again I want to reiterate from an earlier post - is that certain christians(individuals,groups,churches) use the Trinity Doctrine as a litmus test to being a true christian. This doctrine whether true or not is not essential to your salvation. The Grace of God and the sacrifies of our Lord Jesus Christ is what saves us and reconcile us to God. The Bible uses personifications, the word wisdom is personified many times and guess what? so is the Spirit of God is personified many times.

Anyone who knows the Bible at all will readily acknowledge that the Law of Moses was given directly through YHWH to Moses. Yet the writer of Hebrews so readily identifies the Holy Spirit as God that he describes in detail the most sacred sanctuary ordinances and ascribes them as being the work of the Holy Spirit (Heb 9:8).
I could go on; my hope is that whoever reads this will be spurred on to further study.

Jesus' farewell discourse speaks much of the Holy Spirit and what He does in relation to the believer (John chapters 14-16). There are over 12 different ways to use the word spirit in the english language. If you do a word search for spirit in the Bible you will find that spirit is used in other ways besides the Spirit of God. Ex: spirit of Jacob; spirit of wisdom; spirit of jealously; spirit of man and so on. So base on your logic why do you conclude spirit = person?

Meaning is determined by C O N T E X T (and yes, I'm fully aware of the meaning of the words 'ruach' & 'pneuma', and the various ways in which they are used). Col 2:2 speaks of the mystery of God of the Father and Christ, does not include the Spirit of God. It is not until Rev 10:7 when sounding of the seventh angel will the mystery of God would be finished. Again the Bible personifies the Spirit of God but that does not make it a person. Paul never includes the Spirit of God in his greetings. No definitive verse - Spirit of God = person

@all66books God can be substituted for human being so now we have the vital force that characterizes God as being alive. Other descriptions of spirit are basically you can attach emotions, such as will, enthusiasm, disposition, attitude and so on. So when I say my spirit is grieved, low, or depressed I’m not saying there is another person in me feeling that way but it is the state of my being at the moment, so that should explain some of the verses you pointed out. This is very clearly seen in the great commission verse of Matthew 28:19: "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit..." What I know for a fact is what the word says: "However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him." (Romans 8:9). Indeed, we are sealed by the Holy Spirit unto the day of redemption (Eph. 4:30); this we recieve upon belief in Christ (John 7:37-39; Eph. 1:13-14).

I have found this to be an almost daily reality & occurence in my life, during good days and bad, on days when my faith is at a high, or on days when I am feeling pretty chewed up/faithless. What I don't like the most is that certain christians(individuals,groups,churches) use the Trinity Doctrine as a litmus test to being a true christian. This doctrine whether true or not is not essential to your salvation. The Grace of God and the sacrifies of our Lord Jesus Christ is what saves us and reconcile us to God.

There are many words personified in the Bible like wisdom, blood, water, wind, etc. does that make the word a person? No it does not. There is not a clear verse that shows the Spirit of God is a person. Instead it is only what people make them to be, a conclusion.

I am new to this, but my understanding is that Elohim, or the "us" of Genesis, refers to God the Father and The Lord Jesus Christ.
John 1 refers to the Word, who was WITH God, and WAS God. Jesus is the Word.
The Holy Spirit is a description of the invisible power of God, not a third separate entity.
I will admit, the Godhead is one of the things I am struggling to comprehend the most, but that's because God is infinite and too much for the mind to comprehend...and I'm still learning.

Yes, according to Ephesians 4:8-10 and 1 Peter 3:18-20, Jesus did go to the lower parts of the earth(Hades) and preached to the "spirits in prison", but did not "suffer" in Hades after his death on the cross because His death was the bloodshed sufficient for the remission/forgiveness of our sins
