  • my retrogen gave out within a month. it just stopped working for some reason. and the MODE button wasn't on the retrogen sooo when i play a game that uses that button....it goes haywire...the mode button is rapid.... i was so fuckin pissed because Fatal Fury 2 had that fuckin problem. i would avoid this console. spend your 30 bucks on a hooker instead

  • The downloadable games for the SD card are 32 bit

  • the mega drive was a 16-bit console...

it was only 32-bit with the 32X add-on

  • The smooth and sexy version needs a rechargable lithium battery

  • The Motorola 68000 processor in the Genesis was actually a true 32-bit processor but the Genesis could only use 16-bits.

The 32X was 32-bit but the cartridges didn't really have the memory to make good use of it and programming for it was complicated.

  • what a douche!

  • this guy doesnt have enough make up on

  • Please do reviews of these new Sega games he was talking about.

  • woopty fuckin' doo!!! why do i need this? it's 2010 the last time i checked if i want to play a shitty sega game i'll plat alpha protacal

  • The 90's is coming back

  • haha sega is finally upgrading to 64 bit xD

Caught up to what nintendo hit 1996 hahaha

  • @tackhammer66 That's not what this is about at all you ignorant little fanboy.

  • sega genesis is 32 bit? WTF is that dude talking about? lol

  • Um... Where can I get the SD cartridge and the console? I've seen the retrogen and the other handheld have come out but the console and cartridge I cant even find on the net ANYWHERE!

  • The guy made a mistake.. the Sega Genesis is 16 bit, not 32 bit. He's probably thinking about the 32x

  • cool interview , just wish the red banner was lower , couldn't really see anything

  • Firebox?? hahahahah

  • While the sound emulation is far from perfect, it's an awesome experience to play most of my favorite SEGA games on the go. Thank you Innex.

  • "64 bit games"

    *Mind asplodes*

That guy is a tool who doesn't know whats he's talking about!

  • will this play NHL94?

  • Wow a built in battery COOL but really it is shit because when that battery fails your left with having to plug it into a charger constantly like my DS.

Also rechargeable battery's last a long time especially if you have like 8 on the go.

  • neeeeeeeeeeedddddddd hhhheeeeelllllllpppp does anyone know if the gen mobile will be able to have the firebox tec with the 64 bit game. and will be able to use the SD card as the retro gen.

and when will all this be released

  • TheKaelkinator is a noob,he don't understand the value of these games to some people(some of them are much better then the nowdays games) better they keep their work(and forget some shit the people says)

  • sega is back!!!!! man i think they never kom back it`s 10 years ago they left but now they are back:) best day of my life

  • agree

  • nothing is like the original portable sega game gear and sega nomad I rather the original even though it take up battery can

and the original value more money he he

  • The CPU the Genesis runs on was a 32 bit CPU,

Genesis only used 16 bit instruction sets.

    Or something like that.

Just read up on the 68k (which was the Genesis CPU)

"By modern definition this meant that the 68000 was a 32-bit microprocessor."

  • omg so they will be releasing new old school consoles that will play the genesis 32 bit?? can it play the 16 bit games to?? cuse thats the only sega i got... and did i herd right will they release 64 bit games :S 64 OMG That gracit issent that nice... but anyway WHAT IS BIT ANWAY?!?!? I never know what bit really means... the only thing i know is that higher bit it is the better the grafic will be but then what bit is it on the computer games 9999 bit?!?!?!

  • will purchase

  • damn new genesis games? yeah thats news to me, but have u heard about the new sega dreamcast game? no joke, ive seen a trailer for it somewhere on the net. its called rush rally racing if i can remember.

seems like sega is bringing out retro's like an air jordan shoe.

  • I mean the RetroGen where u can plug in Sega Megadrive/Genesis cartridges on it :)

  • could somebody point me in the right direction where can I find this thing? Thanks

  • i want to buy that where could i buy that

  • 32 bits??? Sega Genesis is 16 bits unless he means the 32x but he didn't mention the 32 x at all I'm confuse =(

  • he prolly was nervous and miss spoke

  • bits not bites

  • @Manic941 The 32X wasen't 32-bit.

  • i have a sega nomad

  • Comment removed

  • It was as big a mistake as confusing a Sega Master System with a Sega Genesis. But I agree, insults are not the right way to express one's opinion.

  • Geez guys, it was a simple mistake that he said 32-bit, relax.

  • what an idiot. 32bit?

  • Can't wait to see the "unboxing" and review of this thing. I see some sites are offering it in the UK already for 39.99 pounds (about $56 USD which is a bit pricey, though it has 15 "built in" games).

Are there any manuals included? Do original Genesis controllers work? What about 32X games?

  • what a fucking dork. and what makes me mad is that incompetent people like him earn a lot of money.

  • And it sucked ass:(

  • 32 bit? I'm a bit worried if someone who worked on it doesn't even know the most basic facts about the Megadrive.

  • I just ordered the new megadrive console!!! :D

  • 32 bit? this guys hammered

  • yeah, only the 32x was 32-bit and it had only about a dozen games

  • I will get the retro gen not firebox cause i have a genesis already

  • i wan a super nintendo portable

  • Comment removed

  • "ya i love the super mario brothers!"

then he goes on to talk about all the new sega stuff comming out...

wonder if the 32x plugs into it lmao

  • this is some BS

  • The link is still down for it....

  • segas comming out with a new system just what all of us wanted!

  • dude i am speechless

  • Idiot- the MD was 16 Bit not 32!!!

  • ANYONE WHO IS STILL READING.

The PR guy is not clueless. He is talking about megabits.

The Genesis while 16-bit has 32 mega-bit address space. The largest games were 32 megabits in size.

The new device will have 64-megabit address space, therefore the games will be able to use TWICE as much memory. Still 16-bit but with twice as much memory for graphics, sound and gameplay.

  • No, he was talking about the processor, not the data bus. The 68000 is 32-bit internally but has a 16-bit connection to the world.

  • They have 8-Bit 68000 all the way to 32-Bit ones.

  • @localhbci: That is not correct, I am afraid. While the 68k is 32-bit, he's talking about the 32-bit ARM CPU that is the core of THIS hardware, running the Mega Drive emulator.

  • @KenAndNelle Well Super street fighter II was 40 meg.

the guy's probably just clueless as to what he's talking about.

  • That guy is so hot.

  • segas comin back

  • Both videogame central and all links to Retrogen are dead. That is a bad sign.

  • Sega genesis had a 16 bit bus. Therefore it was a 16-bit system.

Calling the Genesis a 32-bit system, however, is not far from the truth; the Motorola 68000 processor in the system was 32bit.

For those that don't know, the Sega Saturn was a 32 bit system.

  • omg what jackass, not you oldskool. he doesn't seem to know anything other than super mario bors. the device seems cool. i always had a problem with built in batteries. what if it goes dead and they don't make them anymore? i still dread t

  • I want one so badly, but playing Sonic 3 with Sonic & Knuckles on top is going to be painful.

  • What a darsh, like any corporate rep he has no clue about the product his company is dealing with. The original genesis was 16bit NOT 32 the 32X was the 32bit add on.

  • did he mean july this year? i've searched the web dont see anything about it.

  • I hunger for that handheld.

  • can u play 32x games on those things too or just the genesis ones

  • 64bit!?!?! Dose that mean there going to make Saturn games for it?

  • No, it doesn't mean Saturn games will be on it. The guy doesn't know what he is talking about. He is just throwing around a lot of random numbers that aren't right.

  • The Genesis alone is a 16 bit system and he's stating that it's a 32 bit system... they didn't mention that it supports 32x games, but those statements make me wonder...

  • i was thinking the exact same thing...

  • ZEEBO, LEARN WITH THEM!

  • I REALLY hope this thing gets a UK release

  • they need to make a new mortal kombat like the original genesis ones.

  • Does anyone plan on homebrewing for this system? Would be cool to see homebrews for it.

  • I'm tempted to buy one.

  • Who cares anymore. It's licensed from AtGames and looks like that awful POS the Twin Pad Player, which suffered sound problems and graphical glitches. Looks like it, probably IS it in a new box.

I have a perfectly functional Genesis with 32X and Sega CD attachments, I don't need this.

I'd also ask when Hyperkin's stuff comes out, but I'm guessing it'll go the way of Duke Nukem Forever since they ain't got a clue. They also deal with AtGames, so theirs will be garbage as well.

  • The fact you can play it anywhere, just maybe? :/

  • Knowing AtGames, it'll cost almost as much as a used Nomad and be riddled with software incompatibilities which would render it unplayable.

  • BTW NO md/genesis console/clone can be region free w/out region switches (or an internal automatic region switch in software), all region lock is on-cart, recognizing the region programmed into the console. (of course non-locked games will work in other regions)

  • True.

  • i would only buy this if it had 2 player wireless with all old genesis games

  • The Genesis/Mega Drive really IS 32-bit. The main core processor is 32-bit, but is on a 16-bit data bus. It could only use 16-bits.

The Genesis/Mega Drive was marketed as a 16-bit system, and rightly so. If it was marketed as a 32-bit system, it wouldn't really be correct. Kind of like how the Turbographx-16 wasn't really 16-bits. The main processor was 8-bit. Same with the Atari Jaguar. You have to do some pretty math to make that thing 64-bit.

  • That's only the data bandwidth, it was still capable of 32-bit processes and by modern definition iis a 32-bit processor. (there are other examples of "full" 32-bit procs on 1/2 busses as well, like the Atari Falcon)

The N64's CPU had a 32-bit external data bus as well and the SNES's CPU was on an 8-bit bus. (16-bit internal)

The Jag has 2 64-bit procs, 2 32-bit and the 68k, all on a 64-bit shared data bus. (but Jerry and its 68k host are limited to 16-bits of the bus only)

  • Why does the interviewer look at the camera after his questions?

  • Because the camera loves me and I don't want it to get jealous and think I am giving all my attention to the presenter!

  • @videogamecentral your a ham

  • Questions...

The guy on the right referred to Genesis as a 32-bit console. Is he referring to this console having 32X support?

How long does the battery last on a single charge?

Can you replace the battery? Also, how much will replacement batteries cost, assuming that you can replace them?

Also, do these consoles consist of consolidated chipsets like other clones, or are they the real deal?

  • i saw this in shops lol, i diddnt know it could play ANY sega megadrive game, i thought it was just the ones that came with it lol

  • there is nothing retro about a clone

ill stick to my model 1 genesis with HD graphics thank you very much

  • That's cool, but you certainly can't play it on the go or partake in playing new games with it!

  • i was talking about the first thing in the video. the nomad 2 is pretty cool i guess since its licensed by sega. as long as its not one of those things with like 20 built in games. besides that is Sega making new games you say? are they making these on cartridges? has the world finally realized that discs suck lol?

  • @quizno1992 For some people clones are still Retro as older systems might have broken over the years.

  • the sega genesis was a 16 bit console not a 32 bit console. That guy is stupid.

  • 16 bit sega

  • This PR guy has no idea what he's talking about lol

  • lol, so true

  • A real failure of a PR guy.

"oh yeah, huge. Mario Brothers. I love it."

And then he proceeds to talk about SEGA. Wow.

  • is it avalable in europe?

  • About damn time Sega back into the console market!

We missed you so much Sega!!! :)

  • Sega's back into console making!!!!!!

    Yay!!!!

  • Awesome!

  • Haha, old school is new cool!

  • your not funny.

  • I didn't try

  • NOnonononononono!!!!!! damn I want new Megadrive Games but Release them as cartridges so I can play them on my Megadrive :( I dont know why but I would Much rather play the games on my Megadrive because it's nostalgic :/

  • must own 4 retro fans

  • will it be able to play old Japanese games like xmen vs street fighter? cause if it does im getting one for sure

  • He said it plays Megadrive games. So I don't see y not.

  • i heard 32 bit the genesis was 16 bit and the 32x was 32 bit is it the long lost sega neptune perhaps.

  • what is the retail price for this Portable?

  • will these be available in the UK?

  • They already are! They were released in the UK first!

  • Well... the first and third ones were!

  • hell yeah

OLD SCHOOL IS THE NEW COOL!

  • Hey thats real cool. I may have to buy one.

  • LOL old skool fool, ur kick ass. so glad someone actually made this product.

  • by stores, will it actually be in stores, or am I gonna have to order this online

  • You will have to order this online. VideoGameCentral will have it available to order.

  • emulation is already on the game market. lookup the GP2X. of course another one can't hard the market, just make sure the title count is high as hell.

  • This seems to be basically a new Sega handheld. Cool.

  • sweet

  • I doubt he's talking about the 32x...especially since he doesn't seem to realize that bits has nothing to do with relative graphical capabilities. 64-bit has twice as much as 32 bit? Bullshit.

Let's just hope his R&D department actually knows that they're doing unlike their VP. Looks like a promising product.

  • who's making this? and do they have a web site?

  • VideoGameCentral

  • what. genesis is16-bit, it's right there on top of the console.

anyways, If they're good enough, I might buy all three.

  • what about the sega 32x it would look retarded but maybe

  • I can play all my sega mega drive 16 bit games on my PSP slim 200 using emulater and it works 100%!!!!!! they are sooooo behide us! hahahaahahahahaahah !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yeah, your not special. This is for people who like actually having real product. This is not an emulator, it is real hardware...hahahahahahahahahhahahah!

  • i agree where can i get this

  • It is a 16 bit console.Whats the dude talking about.

  • i thought the sega genisis was 16 bit?

  • I think he might have been thinking about the expansion with the 32X attachment at full capacity.

  • will this be hittin the stores?

  • so it has a bulit in 32x? thats kinda cool!! i hope there will be some good 3D sonic games

  • Don't think it's exactly a 32X or they would of been hyping the crap out of that. I think it's a different 32bit implementation.........

  • me to what the hell is he talking about the 32x

  • Comment removed

  • will this be at retail stores?

  • strange

  • Sounds cool

  • lol O_O

  • dammit make a sonic 4 game

  • Portable Genesis is a NEED, not a want.
