I have one these also that my grandmother gave me. She carried it in the fifties. I'd love any help in finding out when it was made and approximate value. Thanks
I have a revolver just like this. it looks exactly the same and is also from around those times.(Of course it is a Smith and Wesson) but the serial number is only 4 digits(Located on the bottom of the latch) and it seems to be chambered for a bigger round. Like a .38 short or something(A .38 can fit perfectly width wise but not length wise) and I was trying to figure out what it was.
.32 S&W Short is seriously a pitiful round, you would be better off with a .22LR but this belonged to my great grandfather and it's an interesting piece of metal. Word of warning to those that own top break revolvers, don't snap it closed with the hammer cocked or else you will break the sear. This gun has been rendered DAO by my stupidity and inexperience.
@howell2006 it's probably a .38 Russain. They are shorter than a .38 special is.

@gunz779 It's .38 S&W, .38 Special is longer than .38 S&W (or to the Brits in their Enfield revolver, .38/200)

@wade2u2 PM me the serial number, caliber, and a picture would help a lot.

@howell2006 If you can get a picture of it and include the serial number, I could find out what model it is and when it was made.
