  • great footage and a cool run never forget the older stuff which without ,we wouldn't have the newer stuff ,yeah frames that didn't have coaster brackets back in the day we used to bolt the coaster arm down on the chainstays with a hinged "Dia Compe MX seatclamp" with a bit of duct damp underneath so it didn't move, this would be in 1984 a tip which Mike Buff or Martin Aparajo i believe invented.

  • @gamster68 Yep! I did that too in 1984! Those guys thought of all kinds of stuff. Remember the "blueprinting your coasterbrake" article? It involved welding the arm directly to the hub to eliminate slop.

  • @midohiofreestyler yeah i recall that article was covered in Freestylin or BMX plus ,not sure how effictive it was ,the old Suntour hub on the Skyway Tuff 2's.

  • @midohiofreestyler i recall a few good gimmicks like the Buff Guard and the rear brake guard ,the lever on the bars for bar rides, the grip on the bars for locomotives , fun times.

  • ulol

  • filmed with a calculator

  • old scool bmx is THE BEST. id rather watch old school stuff like this than this new circus shit these guys are doin today. the old stuff had so much more flare/style than todays circus. this vid is a classic!

  • they had freecoaster hubs back in 87'...

  • @siTTinLo420 You got a sharp eye, but its not a freecoaster hub its a coaster brake hub ( you back pedal and the rear wheel locks)

  • @midohiofreestyler ,,,ahhh i see. i was unaware that such feats were possible with a coaster brake,,i bet jumping back to the pedals could be tricky without abruptly stopping the bike. but you seem to have it down pretty good..anyways im glad to see that you still occasionally bust out the ol' freestyle,,,you're never to old to have fun,and stay fit,,, keep it up.

  • @siTTinLo420 Actually,

many riders ran coaster brakes back then, the frames even had a special bracket built in for the coaster brake arm to bolt to. I still use a coaster brake too, I have never ridden a freewheel lol! Thanks for the kudos!!

  • Where was this competition? I'm trying to find old videos of competitions. I rode in New York, Long Island and competed on the East Coast in AFA Masters competitions. There was one in Old Westbury NY which was pretty big as well as Worcester Mass.

  • @Yoquezzy This was in Columbus Ohio

  • @Yoquezzy thats cool to know that they had competitions in worcester i live there

  • I used to ride BMX back in the 80's. I won a bunch of trophies and did a little freestyle. The main thing was riding BMX was FUN!!! Some of the best times of my life was riding around with my buddies until late at night. Great times. Thanx for posting the video, you had some skills !!

  • some skills, Phaha, you want skills, search the likes of Harry Main, Bruno Hoffman. They are skill, this is a video where the foot taps the floor more times than a tramp has slept on there.

  • @JackiiNiiT do us all a favor and shut the fuck up.

  • Or not, its the truth, i got to say, some of the tricks are alright, but foot tapping that much, like i said, search some Pros and you wont be seeing the foot tapping atall

  • Um, in that run I can see you were ambitious and some of the tricks you attempted were indeed diffiicult , but you had way to many touches bro.

  • Nobody's perfect, buddy. Basketball players don't always make their shots, football players don't always get a touchdown. I did touch my foot alot, but i also pulled many of the tricks perfectly. Check out my dec. 85 video if you want to see a near flawless run. Of course the tricks aren't as good......

  • you still ride?

  • Yes but not as much as I used to. Check out my other videos, there are a couple new vids of me riding now.

  • @prince1280 all you damn kids watch too many videos- nobody in real life has flawless runs everytime; even the pros

  • cool video, the 80's were good times, I started racing in 1986, Redline ml-20 was first race bike, never was good at freestyle

  • Fine job man! Thanks for posting this!

  • i know exactly what you mean, i could only do the tricks in RAD, when the newer rolling tricks came, i tried and tried, but just couldnt learn those tricks, today i just try to keep my old tricks in practice at 33.

  • What kind of bike was that?? Brings back some memories, that's for sure. I had a 1984 (I think) Haro FST. I remember when tail whips were done on the ground, not in the air...lol

  • Its a 1985 Haro Master which was pretty old in 1987. I still have the bike today and still ride it once in a while.

  • rock on im 11 and my bike park just opened

  • you should be proud thats really good

  • What did you place in this contest? I just started kinda bmxin or what ever you want to call it. My friends do it so i said why not try. I can only bunny hop and a little tail wip. I can ride good wheelies. Well nice stunts.

  • Honestly I don't remember! That was 22 years ago! In '85 and '86 I almost always won first place but by 87 some of the younger kids were getting better than me. Sounds like you are off to a good start, wheelies are not easy to learn! Just keep practicing!!

  • Thank You! Especially for the encouragement lol. Thank You!

  • you' were really talented ^-^@

  • Thank you!!
