While their engineering feats were great and were able to create them just with the resources they had. The Aztecs were still behind in the times. Had the Aztecs existed in say the year 600 BC I would be truly impressed. The Egyptians, Greeks, Romans etc. all existed long before the Aztecs and had just as good if not better engineering marvels.

Although Mesoamerican culture seems lost, don't think it is lost forever. It can be revived if the people will it, regardless of ethnicity. For starters abandon the Spanish language and return to the languages of Mesoamerica. Use the Mayan script instead of the latin script. Uh, are you for fucking real? Without the Romans, Greeks, British etc, there would be no democracies, no parliamentary systems, limited economic doctrines, technological engineering etc.. For all its faults, The west, primarily Europe has been responsible for MUCH of the lifestyle and rights you enjoy today.
Democracies have existed in many more places than in Europe first of all (ie ancient India). Secondly who says there is much freedom in the West as you say? Who started drug prohibition? What significance do those numbers hold? Columbus didn't go to Mexico in 1492, and the Mayan, not the Aztec Long count calendar ends in 2012. Besides, 492 is 1000 years off from 1492.

To me the REAL hero of Mexico was Cuahutemoc, who briefly stated that his empire might had been destroyed but that one day the sun (the people) would one day return and now look at Mexico's flag. While their engineering feats were great and were able to create them just with the resources they had. The Aztecs were still behind in the times. Had the Aztecs existed in say the year 600 BC I would be truly impressed. The Egyptians, Greeks, Romans etc. all existed long before the Aztecs and had just as good if not better engineering marvels.

The others are live languages, changing from generation to generation adopting and dumping vocabulary as the timeline progresses. Although Mesoamerican culture seems lost, don't think it is lost forever. It can be revived if the people will it, regardless of ethnicity. For starters abandon the Spanish language and return to the languages of Mesoamerica. Use the Mayan script instead of the latin script. I'm glad the Chinese and the East Indians haven't given up their writing scripts for western latin bullshit.
Even before adopting the old languages we need to get rid of the western system of governance.

Great Great Video. MOdern mexico would be a huge influence on the world today because it grew its awesome empire from scratch in only 200 years. How long did it take the egyptians, romans, or the chinese?

Christianity was used to justify slavery, it was used in the Spanish Inquisition, it was a justifiable reason to invade the Americas and rape/torture/slaughter the indigenous people, it's used today to discriminate homosexuals, the Mormons used it to declare black people as the sons of Kane and so on...

I don't really care what Christianity has to offer. I was born into a Catholic family and I have found all branches of Christianity to be in a state of contradiction and false concepts. In my POV, all religions are backwards, all religion does is hold back human development and put a limitation for our potential.

I agree with you both [xm377 and CannibalPutrefaction] but the matter of the fact is that the European accounts were greatly exaggerated [after all, exaggeration did come from Europe, look at all their myths: Hercules, gold-paved-roads, giant sea monsters, etc] and the Mexika did pratice human sacrifice, but not at the great extent that the Euros depict [that was a strategy and excuse to invade]

the black population in Mexico doesn't exceed 1% and it never will, I'm tired of black people always wanting to claim our culture and place themselves in ours. Blacks didn't come about until the colonization of our lands, and no the OLMEC were not black, they were a product of the mother land.

the state is named after Vicente Ramón Guerrero Saldaña, he fought for Mexican Independence. His ethnic origins are a bit shade, but it was certain that he was mixed with some indigenous blood, the supposed African in him is up for debate.

I can't believe how people are trying to paint the Aztecs and Spanish in black and white. Cortes wasn't a mustache twirling villain and the Aztecs weren't brutal barbarians. No civilization in history has considered themselves the bad guys. The Mongols pillaged because if they didn't their families would starve.

The huns didn't ravage Europe because they were mean, they did it because they wanted a place to settle and be secure. You can speculate on what happened and why, but if you come to the conclution that the Spanish destroyed the Aztecs because they were evil whities, or that the Aztecs were brutal animals, you have become nothing more than a babbling retard with no real knowledge of history or human nature.

I'm certain the Aztecs would have pillaged Spain if roles had been reversed, but that's just how the pieces fell. And where in the fuck does Cannibalputrefaction get off calling the Aztecs his people? I'm guessing he is a Mexican, which means he's probably mestizo like almost all Mexicans, which means that he has European blood. He has nothing in common with the Aztecs, and no relation to their culture.

No we are still there. We didnt call ourselves aztec, we called ourselves Mesheeka (mexica) hence why the country is called mexico. Look at our skin, and by dna, 30% are still full blooded native, 60 are mixed native and white, and only 10 are spanish. Mexico is still a native land like all "latin" american countries.

Well FYI, there are still many indigenous people living in Mex, I have strong Huichol blood, and as you might know the Huichol are descendants of the great Mexika (better known as the Aztecs). It is insulting that you would generalize the Mexicans as having no ties to the natives.
