Boo! Very anti-Zizekian. The death of the author is old news; the creative genius of the Enlightenment isn't so independent as we thought. Of course. However, the new and truly creative, truly dialectical, comes not from within but from without. Evolution of the species, for instance, comes from the challenge of a particular content to persist despite environmental change. Human cultural and individual evolution however comes from the singular forcing the system, the environment, to change.
