Check mine vid out. I think they are using a octave pedal to get the low sound on second part of the riff. You can hear it in headphones the 2 diff guitar parts. The low octave guitar part gives it a full sound. I have never heard a band use a octave pedal that way.

I use a distortion amp too, it works quite well.

I have an old Roland Cube 15, so I don't have much choise for something different. :p
