Best proof that there was no 14C in diamonds:

With radiocarbon dates, they also report 13C/12C ratios. This is your proxy for the original amount of 14C in the sample. These papers reported 14C ages and 13C/12C ratios for 6 cuts of a single diamond. While the 13C/12C ratio varied significantly, the 'measured 14C' did not. It gave the same (~70,000 years) apparent age for each face. Diamonds are isotopically heterogeneous, and one would expect different apparent ages, if this were true 14C.

1. It's a little misleading to say 14C was found in diamonds. Read the original paper, and find that they used diamonds to constrain background levels in various materials on their instrument. I work in an isotope geochemistry lab - it is absolutely not surprising that you get some reading in diamonds or any other material.

2. It's very misleading to suggest that coal samples all give the same date. They don't.

Diamonds are not living and don't get their radioativity from the air. It has nothing to do with C14 dating which shows ages up to 60,000 years old. 10X more than the bible says.

Anyone arguing the age of the earth needs read a book that does not say "bible" or "Jesus" on the front cover. There are NO scientists that are not deeply religious that dispute dating methods. They are not perfect, but they get the job done. You cannot use a tape measure to find a length in nanometers but that's no reason to stop using them.

Natural diamonds contain many microscopic cracks and fissures that actually would allow contamination quite easily, so there's no need to break any bonds for that to occur. Explains better why surface diamonds contain more variable levels than deep mines. Once again, irradiation by the radioactivity in their parent rock is ignored (nitrogen again is a common diamond contaminant, often to the point of altering their color). All the ingredients for non-atmospheric C-14 formation are there.

There's more than 1 way for C-14 to form. RATE would be correct if C-14 only comes from the atmosphere, but they are ignoring the fact that C-14 is also made within rocks when radioactivity is present. Coal happens to contain quite a bit of Uranium and Thorium in it (coal power plants are responsible for the release of more radioactivity into the air than nuclear plants) and plenty of nitrogenous compounds. It's been shown that the more U and Th there is in coal, the more C-14 is present.
