If ALL citizens of myanmar understand it and practice it, Myanmar will be free from the dirty hand of Mililary regime. I grew up in a nation where every family sufferred a lost in the war. All able men are few, the military set up check points on every road and stop any one at certain height for the military. Mo refusial, no question ask, no age check, only if you are just taller than a rooster, then you will be free.....

I go to burma every year! It's not all a war zone, its mainly in the ethnic areas. The North East of the country is one of the worst as the Burma Army are murdering the Karen people. It's very sad, especially as the Myanmar people are some of the nicest and most generous people you will ever meet.

my history knowledge is poor.What i knew is ..Myanmar is united with States and division (Karen, Kayar, Shan, Chin,Etc...) ex Burma is a land of Burmese not Shan's, Karen's'. If we accept Burma, is that mean other states are not part of our country?

child soldiers in the KNLA and KNU dont get recruited against their will ( well no anymore). however, the karen do take volunteers and u hav 2 understand that alot of the children hav lost their family due to the burmese soldiers so they really hav no choice but 2 fight back.

There is no reason to get angry and fight over a name. Many people don't honor the name Myanmar as it was chosen by the military dictatorship which does not support or take care of it's people, but only itself. In addition, the name Myanmar refers to the Myanma ethnic group (which is a majority) but does not represent all the people of the country. Perhaps when the people find independence from the military rule they will pick their own name for a change?

Well a name may be irrelevant but the name is symbolic of a regime that creates genocide. The real fighting is over human rights and independence from Myanmar. The KNLA is still up against a very large force regardless if the enemy is recruiting children.

@ppoppoppoman UN recognizes every member state as legitimate representatives of their people, crazy as it sounds. Consent of the governed has little importance for that body. Many democratic governments haven't recognized the junta's silly autocratic name changes, but a few have. The UN of course is not very democratic. In Thailand for example, the name for Burma sounds like "P'ma", same as it's been for hundreds of years. Burma was it's own chosen name at independence, when it was a democracy.
