Any fans would take wolfpack hockey over whalers hockey, and therefore ahl over nhl, either knows nothing about the game or simply wasn't around when the whalers existed and therefore has no idea what he's talking about. why did they change the name..i think the old owner now whtever he is is trying to do some gimmicky thing like make people think its the whalers again with the "whales" BUT THATS GARBAGE.. if you not going to bring back the whalers dont give us some BS "whale" the Wolfpack was a good name and i thought their logo was sick!!!
AHL is a lot more exciting because the players try harder, plus the teams and logos are much more interesting. Also I would like a team that actually goes past the regular season.

And the Whalers have made it past the regular seasone. And in today's Everybody can win NHL, the Whalers would of probably of won a Stanley Cup by now.
And the Team names in the AHL are Terrible. The "IOWA CHOPS",and the "Erie Mosnters", not to mention other terrible team names and logos.
Plus NHL wouldn't go long in Hartford, not now anyways. Also if there were to be a team in Hartford there should be a much better name than "whalers", there aren't even whales in CT.
The Hartford Whalers use to be called the "New England Whalers" back when they were in the WHA. But when they joined the NHL, the NHL forced them to change thier name to a city. The Hartford Whalers are a historic team, with a much prouder history than most of the active NHL teams today. Bottom Line, AHL joke, NHL Stanley Cup. What more needs to be said?
i rather the whalers 2 but the wolfpack go to the playoffs every year and if they dont get another nhl team the wolfpack will be here to stay for the next decade at least hey its been 13 years so far
I remember being a kid at HCC, and when I saw this on the video tron thing and then heard the WOOOOOOOOOO I'd get chills. Love the Pack, but AHL hockey isn't what it used to be like. Especially since Veterans Memorial Coliseum is no longer standing -_-

Dude. You should be lucky that Hartford actually has hockey. The Pack are much better than the Whalers have been and ever will be.

Oh dont get me wrong. It will be at least 10 years (probably more) untill anyone even thinks of putting an NHL team back in Hartford.
Plus Winipeg and Quebec are ahead of Hartford for an NHL team.
