I have the whole clip, this fucking uploade cut out the part where the storyteller told the viewers that the elphant was to old to stay with the pack!
@lilrater1eh It does not always happen this way. They will usually chase away and even kill lions to protect the calfs. I saw a bull elephant once in a rage and scared off a whole pride of lions.
AW YEAH? *puts glasses on* WELL A DRAGON COULD BEAT THEIR ASSES! By my calculations - dragons have a brute strength ability of over 3000 points, while the measely lion has only 200 on it's own. Dragons consist of over 4000 flying points - while the dandy lion has none! But wait whats this? The lions ansestor has been summoned? *Griffon has landed on the battlefield* ..... CHALLANGE ACCEPTED MOTHERFUKAAAAAA!
Buffallos do work together. It looks like they are running in panic, they actually form a ring of males around calves and mothers. While they are running off, buffalo that is caught by lions (if he is caught) fights them off.Buffalo return to help them unrarely, but it all looks like panic rampage and that is why most of people think buffalo just flee. But they show a great teamwork just like lions do.The only thing is that buffalo have low eyesight so in dark it's easier to bring them down.
all u mutha fuken haters that izz watchin this shit get a life u fuken lame ass bitch ass cemen drinkin y the fuk yall like watchin lions nd fukin elephants dis be yall cousin gettin jumped by some lions lol
They need to be in the art of war and see all of they could win it, but they all ran? I guess only humans have that brain, but that is good half of the time as we see!
It's the elephants poor eyesight that causes them to panic and run, that's why they are vulnerable in the dark. They probably wouldn't have run at all if they were on an open plain. Saw another documentary that brought this up.
@KillerBugful Elephants are more brute-like. They dont give their actions much thought like the lions do. And the half ton force of the lions jaw is pretty scary i guess :P
@KillerBugful the thing is that due to their poor vision, they can be easy to spook and they probably saw the whole pride as one animal and chose to run for it
@KillerBugful, what do yuo expect the elephant is slow. the lions will just tierd him up anywheys even if it stays and fight.. just like Wolf does with Elks the lions does the same with elephants. think logical..
@KillerBugful -The elephants ain't pussies. It's just that the lion herd is the perfect killing unit. They are highly intelligent strategists, practice cooperation, and they fear nothing. The survival of the lion cubs takes priority over everything else;even one's own safety and survival. Except for man, they are simply unmatched.
@KillerBugful. yes but first they have to catch one and that would be impossible unless a lion is distracted and doesnt realise an elephant is coming. but even that would almost be impossible to happend.
mare size and strength does not win a battle.lions are predators.they are bone with an instinct to kill and its design is in such a way that it can efficiently hunt.elephants do not have any such qualities.
The fact that Lions are hunting and fighting animals that can weight up to 40 times there own wieght is impressive. The Elephant killed wouldnt weight that much but many of the fully grown Elephants would.
Lions are very courageous. Ive seen clips of them fighting and killing Elephants, Giraffes and Hippos. These are some of the largest and deadliest animals alive.
@allosauras I agree, lions are gutsy, but this is still surprising. Generally, when a heard of elephants come across lions, they chase them off. Elephants should be smart enough to organize and when they stand together, lions will back off. They must've panicked
@allosauras I would hardly call them courageous. In all honesty, they steal as much as they hunt. They also have a low success rate when they do hunt. IIRC, African painted dogs have some of the highest succese rates.
@Velox415 Courageous for sure. Dummies won't admit that's why Lions were given the title "The King of the Jungle." Not are they only killers with intelligence....they also have a love for a Pride. No other animal has the passion of family pride than Lions. Babylonians, Israelites, Romans, Europeans, the Chinese all used the Lion for a power-symbol.
@allosauras Agreed. I've seen videos of lions taking down giraffes, and the giraffe's kick can easily shatter a lion's skull. Not to mention their hooves are very sharp, and the lions must jump very high to even try and kill the giraffe. If lions are killing these animals, it's like a normal human taking down an adult male silverback gorilla.
@SlenderTroll in prides or not, lions can kill the biggests land animals (Elephants, Giraffes and Hippos) you can find on youtube videos who share a lone lion killing a cape buffalo, or a lone lion killing a hippo (there are 2 lions, but one only watch)
@Leodelli Yes, and the hippo didn't defend itself. A hippo has enough bite to slice a crocodile's tail off, let alone the head of a lion. Hippos don;t attack lion due to their herbivorous instinct that the lions are predators and they would rather just stay put and die than fight. But a lone hippo can certainly serve a couple of lions if it was actually willing to fight.
@SlenderTroll you right, lions use to attack Hippos when they are out of water, because when a hippo is out of water is slow and weak and they prefer run in search of a river. Lions don't attack hippos when they are in water, is too dangerous.
@Leodelli Hippos aren't that slow out of water. They can catch up to humans and attack them. Hippos instinctively submit to lions out of water because they view them as predators and prefer to run away, but if a hippo truly wanted to fight out of water they can take a good lot of lions with them. Hippos have powerful jaws. Water/ land doesn't affect their their jaw power. Hippos are solely instinctively intimidated by lions- doesn't imply they can't kill them if they wanted to, on land or not.
@SlenderTroll But hippos know that a group of lions would kill a lone one if he still out of water. If a hippo fight lions out of water, he would be surrounded and if he tried to attack a lion in front of him, those behind jump on his back. The only time I saw a hippo out of water to fight a group of lions, a lioness called "Dewclaw" was bitten in the head, and 3 weeks after she completely healed, she survived the bite of a hippo!!! Lions are too agile for the hippos out of water
@Leodelli Yes, but without the distraction for mother lions a hippo can certainly land a fatal bite on a lion. Obviously a hippo won't want to spend time on one lion if all the others are attack him/ her.
@SlenderTroll OK, but i think that if a hippo decides to fight...lions prefers to leave him alone and search another prey XD but I still think the hippos want to fight only when they are in water
@Leodelli In order for a lion to kill a large animal like an elephant, it definitely needs its pride. A single lion wouldn't stand a chance at all. It would take a large lion pride to kill one bull elephant. And that is usually at night when the elephant has terrible eyesight. The same with rhinos. A single lion absolutely cannot kill a rhino. Hippos are a different story though, if the hippo isn't aggresive.
@xllxFusionxllx yes, you right, it takes at least 20 lions to bring down one bull elephant, and a bit less for a male rhino, and they have to attack them at night when their eyesight is poor. For the hippos is different because when they are out of water are slow and not aggressive, in fact there's a video here where 2 male lions kill a hippo out of water easily.
It is the first time I've seen lions hunt elephants during the day time. I thought lions didn't hunt elephants during the day time (since they wouldn't have the advantage of nigh vision) but I guess I was mistaken. However this was 'only' a sub adult elephant and I only seen lions take down a full grown matriarch with the help of the night.

They are much bigger and they are in big bridges and if one lion run to them then they all split up ( thumbs up lot of animals ).

2-Hippos don't use to fight lions out of water because hippos are too slow
3-In the remote event that a hippo decides to fight, a lion could survive at one bite on head (could, not certainly)
4-Watch the video "Kruger lions kill Hippo" protege his cub was a good excuse to fight, but she didn't
