Actually, darling June was never known as Gypsy's younger sister. For much of their careers it wasn't well known they were sisters. June had a terrific career. She never liked the fact Gypsy made a career of stripping but in reality Gypsy's act involved very little stripping and very much teasing and humor. Both June and Gypsy were bright, independent women and best-selling authors.

RIP June. I hadn't realized she such an extensive career. If the movie Gypsy is to be believed, June went off into obscurity...but if you ask me her life was more interesting than Gypsy's

They mention in GYPSY that June had become an actress., Rose says that when she goes to visit Gypsy Rose Lee backstage toward the end.
