that's rather subjective don't you think? The two bands have a similar sound, but from different roots, and a very different outcome.

I once got a friend to come to a Gang Gang Dance show by telling him they sounded like a dream you might have after listening to too much Cocteau Twins and Can. Of course no comparisons come remotely close. No recording comes close. Their performance is something very special and should be experienced firsthand. Trying to distill their live show with comparisons and recordings like trying to capture the sensation of being sucked under by a riptide with a photograph of the ocean.

i think every band people have tried to compare this group to sucks (as a comparison). They are not sonic youth, they are not my bloody valentine, the are not the cure. they are gang gang dance and they are amazing.

yeah man, if somebody told me to check out gang gang dance based on that comparison, i'd be completely uninterested because i'd expect a mediocre noisy shoegaze band. sonic youth and MBV are both brilliant, but a "cross" between them has been done so many times it's cliche. gang gang dance is completely singular, something which people have a lot of trouble with (understandably, though, especially in the critic circuit)

Not to mention both of those bands are guitar based, whereas this has alot more to do with keys and electronics.

i saw them last night with of montreal and they were really good, they put on a great show and i hadnt heard of them before then. of montreal was AMAZING. i would go see gang gang dance again though
