  • I remember my dad playing this all the time in the car when I was a little kid! I love this song!!!

  • Breaking up is hard to do.. if you are a truly wonderful sweet caring person who deserves better. Otherwise it's easy. I truly invite comments on this. Not that anyone with a soul can disagree.

  • @Lukiel666 It's true. Nice guys and girls usually finish last. They usually get dumped. But then, the right one comes along, and appreciates what others have failed to do. Or at least that's what I keep telling myself anyways..

  • Him with out her is absolutelly nothing,,,,Karen was the talented..

  • Amo essas músicas, e olha, perto dessas músicas eu sou um bebê!!!! Eu nasci em 76 mas gosto d+ dessas músicas!!!!

  • the wawa commercials are in such bad taste i had to create an account. is it a plot?

  • 日本だけのシングル発売、好きな曲、口ずさみやすい。

  • I was going to say that I never knew that the Carpenters had ever done a song written by any singer/songwriter named Neil that graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Brooklyn, but then I remembered that they did another Sedaka song, "Solitaire". But no Neil Diamond songs in Karen's short life.

  • @rslitman Song Sung Blue, done by KC, would have been a helluva record, don't you think?

  • @therealjoebloggs Yes, that would have had potential.

  • it may be a neil sedaka original but with due respect to him and the carpenters, i prefer the Partridge Family edition by David Cassidy...

  • @ngjoe77 I gotta hear this! *going this minute*

  • whirlyfan thank you .I feel better.by the way,I should say "laugh at me",not "laugh me".

    sorry for the wrong word!

  • bons tempos que não voltam mais. valeu, parabéns pela postagem. um abraço fraterno aqui do BRASIL.

  • @Rosita, Carpenters are still beinglistened to specially herein the YOUTUBE. It's so nice to see this. all the comments. Richard Carpenter is still perfoming pianoconcerto's and made some albums like T.I.M.E. in 1987

We the fans all over the wolrd keep listening to The Carpenters on this channel!!

Breaking up is hard to do is about the dogs, but it should never be hard to do if it makes solution in peace, better than to make unhappy days all over and over again.

    Keep listneing to Carpenters!:-)

  • karen is beautiful. If i'm as pretty as her,my classmates won't laugh me.

  • @chenh100 mate you are beatiful they just jealous

  • @chenh100 I'm sure you're beautiful, and I'm equally sure they're idiots. You'll go a long way in this life if you ignore Baboons like them. Chin up Darling.

  • @chenh100 I'm sure you're beautiful! Anyone that takes the time to listen to Karen Carpenter is a beautiful person. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. To me...you are beautiful! And if anyone has a problem with how you look, tell them to talk to me. I'll always stick up for you...because you are beautiful. : )

  • I still prefer Sedaka's version.

I remembered way back when Karen Carpenter died of anorexia - an eating disorder. She was so beautiful, and successful, why did she resort to that? She did appear extremely thin at 1.02....

Whatever happens to the Carpenters now?

  • @rosita62 She resorted to that from pressure caused by being famous. Her comfort zone was behind the drums. See her drum?? Google her drumming. They took her away from that and she had to sing upfront doing less drumming. Her first love was the drums her heaven sent voice was well I guess what cut her life short as beautiful as it is/was. Upfront was not where she wanted to be.

  • Not to rain on anyone's parade but am I the only one who finds it odd that a brother and sister are singing about breaking up? I mean yea I guess they could each be talking to separate people but still lol

  • The Carpenters makes everything better!! But don't get me wrong I still like Neil Sedaka's version.

  • this is a cooooooooooool song

  • this is a cooooooooooool song

  • Por que escuhco esto que raro soy jajaja pero me desahogaa xD

  • QUE HIPPIE SOY WAJAJAJAJA :D

  • cried a river when i learned she died :'(

  • I am so sad about Karren! I liked them so much!

  • Thank you!

  • I just realized that it 100% true :P

  • asombroso! nunca había escuchado esta versión con mi novia karen carpenter.

  • Why am I obsessed with this song..?

  • I love karen's voice. Whatever song she sings, for me is even better than the original...

  • hm i like da way my choir class sings it, its better no offence to da carpenters and neil. i should post a vid of us singing it.

  • Good singers but they should have left this one to Neil.

  • I love Karen Carpenter, but let's get real: this is wretched.

  • CARPENTERS---"BREAKING UP IS HARD TO DO"

  • Comment removed

  • WOW! We all (everybody) loved the Carpenters. They did all kind and manner or song .. this was DooWop (Neal Sedaka) to Bachrach (complex) .. and their own arrangements (Paul Williams ) .. BUT ALL OF IT MADE YOU SMILE and maybe even sing along. Wept the day her death was announced. (like when Presley died .. a great loss in your heart)

  • HEAVENS, THIS IS MUSIC!!!!!!!

  • Awful song. Karen didn't deserve this. What was Richard thinking?

  • VERY GOOD MUSIC VIDEO.

  • adoro!!

  • nice song but the original is best from heart

  • Thanks for posting this. I had EVERYTHING they ever recorded, but I had forgotten they had done this song. I LOVE Karen's voice.

  • muy triste final de la flaquita,,

  • I LOVE THE HAIR STYLE! WOW!

  • Love this version. Thanks for sharing.

  • The purest and most beautiful female voice that ever has been or ever will be. What a terrible loss! Thanks for saving this cut that isn't heard too often.

  • I have always loved the Carpenters music. That said, read about them in Neil Sedaka's auto-biography. You will be amazed!!!

  • Love the Harmony !!!!

  • haha now the guy plays the piano at my skool lol

  • hehehe can't help myself :) I really love this version by the Carpenters :) thanks for sharing!!!!!

  • The Carpenter's at there best,Karen with her rich tone's,great job Carpenter's.

  • Love this version :)

  • At 1:05 Richard and Karen had had a disagreement or argument of some sort, you can see the tension in each other's faces. It was over Karen's ill health, I believe.

  • @mrshinyshoes This photo is from a Los Angeles Time interview in late 1981, talking about the release of Made in America

  • she looks pretty @ :51

  • Neil Sedaka's version was much better. :)

  • csn hell

  • She was the best! So missed.

  • this song always puts me in a good mood!!!!

  • Is karen Carpenter have a Lover when she was still alive? Shes Beautiful! But Sorry because she died of Anorexia Nervosa. Sorry.

  • @krish32e1 She had a husband. From what I hear, he threw his wedding ring into her coffin at the funeral, and when they were married he used to always borrow money from her.

  • ...Richard arranged Neil's slower version of this song and Neil had a hit with it, one, if not the only, time in history that this happened. Carpenters had to promise not to record the slow version also. Karen would have blown Neil out of the water had she recorded it. Also, they recorded this song after the 'Sedaka' fiasco of 1975, somewhat tongue in cheek.

  • See, now I listen to Neil's, and I think, well, this isn't quite as good...

  • Nothing like taken Neil Sedaka's song and %&%* it up.

  • i love KAREN !! she is so beautiful and talented !!

  • @GAYFEVER100 r.i.p karen

  • @blackteewhitetee I second that. I was singing in a church choir the week of Karen's death, and I still remember the night of practice when our choir director started the hour with a short observance for her passing. She was a gift to us, in a time when gifts seemed easier to come by.

  • @Hob0Fighter ara ka lang woay

  • @Hob0Fighter Nope. This song is great.

  • great cover but Neil Sedaka is the best:D

  • @TheTimewaster12 dai daw asa man :P

  • @sisterlead02 say what?

  • @TheTimewaster12 ,i agree that this one is only ok but other songs that i haven,t heard before are very good.

  • @TheTimewaster12 Copy-righters???? And they did do great songs.

  • @TheTimewaster12 So? Janis Joplin became famous for songs that weren't hers. She wasnt the original singer of "Piece of my heart" or "Cry baby"

Aretha wasnt the original singer of "respect"

  • @TwistedSister09 Janis became famous because of the way she interpreted others songs.

  • @TwistedSister09

You're right on both accounts. "Piece Of My Heart" was originally by Erma Franklin, and "Cry Baby" was originally by Garnett Mims And The Enchanters. As for the latter song, I have only heard the Garnett Mims original, never have heard Janis's renditon

  • Karen is SO pretty at 2:17

  • her voice is probably the most recognizable in pop history for a female. why is that?

  • @turquoise770 ,I think that it is because her voice was/is distinctive and it caught peoples attention.

  • So cool!

  • Hi, could some1 pls post "boat to sail"? can't find that song/video. tq

  • Love the pic of her at 1:15 she looks so much younger. But it seems that he never changes!

  • great version, but neil sedoka is the best

  • karens songs touch the heart and soul its a gift comes once in a life time like true love

  • I'm Karen spirit, too !!!!!!

  • he kinda looks like Kevin Bacon..i think....

  • I`m Karen Spiritttttttttttt

  • Breaking up IS hard to do....sooooo if ur gonna do it, best do it up RIGHT - - send the one who can wield a badge....lol

  • LOVE THIS SONG

  • I wish I was as pretty as Karen Carpenter, and I also wish I had half the talent she had...=(

  • @M0r3Lik3HERthanME I bet you are absolutely gorgeous. Cheer up sweetheart. And as you grow older you'll find where your talent lies - you're great at something, you just don't know what it is yet. It'll come.

  • @M0r3Lik3HERthanME beauty fades and there are more things to have talent at other then singing. also karen carpenter is hmm ok.

  • i luvvvvv the first picture! shes smiling and he is just looking so hot and just looking in her eyes <3

  • now this is the kinda songs we need in this time right now! no rap or pop or rock! what about oldies!?!?!?!? we still need them songs to remember some good memories dont we? how come noone is writing good songs like this anymore!

  • @TheJonasClub this IS a pop song...

  • well no duh!!!!!! i know its a pop song but whats the reason by telling me that its a pop song! BECAUSE I KNOW IT IS A POP SONG

  • @TheJonasClub we do need the oldies back !!

  • @TheJonasClub yeah, don't we all wonder ?

  • What a nice version this is....but Karen did every song well. Sure wish she was still around today.

  • @conuregirl007 wish she were around too !!

  • could somebody tell me what year is this song please??!!

  • Probably the year their Kind of Hush album was made...

  • @RUTHGEE

    thanks the year is 1976!!!!

  • i've been told i have a voice just like her before .... lol and then again i've also been told that i have a voice like lily allens too ... hmm

  • i always used to want Karen to marry me and sing to me every night.

  • I like Neil Sekadas version but Karen's is prettier.I think this song is better with a girl singing it.

  • Bob Reidy:

Where you from, mang? What sport are you associated with? You not 22, mang. You already knew that.

  • Long Island.I am 22.

  • She had such a beautiful voice.

  • Det är svårt att bryta upp. Well it is the title of this nice good song in Sweish, The Carpenters are still populer singers here, Big Thankyou to both Karen and Richard.

  • i'm not going to lie i prefer the renee olstead ft. peter concotti version. this is to sad a song to be so up tempoed

  • @abelvids it is a sad song but Karen Carpenter has a unique voice and delivers it so well.

  • oh ya she does a great job i just love the delivery in the jazzier version.

  • hmm... the Carpenters did a lot of Neil Sedaka covers.

  • Wow this version is good too!! I love both versions. The best of both worlds!!

  • What a clear, beautiful voice Karen had!

  • Knowing per summie:

It's too bad she hated to essen mit de food-ie.

  • Haha,,,really nice sonG^^....making your mind relax^^..

  • @yggeo Or not, if you have just broken up with someone..

  • Interesting post orangewizard...how do people 'affirm,' or convince those afflected with such a disaorder that they were more beautful before the illness and are actually deteriorating with it?

  • huge carpenter fan, also a fan of sedaka, i've never heard this! thank you for posting!

  • Richard arranged and orchestrated the slower version for Neil Sedaka who had a hit with it on the promise that Karen would NOT sing it in the slow manner. Neil wasn't as dumb as I thought. *wink*

  • Karen Carpenter had such a pure, beautiful voice. She'll always be missed!

  • @JCANELAKES yeah i bet she could eat some fried chicken too

  • @PrivateHudson90 You're sort of an asshole, aren't you.

  • @JCANELAKES Apologies, I was drunk and angry at the time. I love the Carpenters. Peace :)

  • Their voices complimented each other. Karen had the rich tones like a beautiful instrument but putting it all together was a collaboration. Just appreciate their music and sound. Thanks for posting.

  • Karen had the voice of a angel !!! Her brother knew how to bring her voice to the max to fit any song.

  • wow!!!Karen,i really love yah!!!!

hope you are now at peace!!!

  • I love this .....missing you .....I thought I saw your brother the other day...I know ....been listening to too much music ...

  • :43...Karen was such a fox before her illness took it's toll...how in the name of Pete did enough people not affirm that to her?!

Maybe they tried and couldn't get through, who knows.

  • Mean to him,but...I agree!LOL.

  • ..this august 23 2009.,i turned 13 and mom bought me a CD of carpenters.,and this song includes and also please mr.postman..:)

  • glay i love this vid of yours.. :D

  • They sing this so much better than Neil.

  • NO WAY! NEIL IS THE BEST!!!

  • Okay, I have my choice and you have yours :)

  • The voice of an angel! Just stunning!

  • The best!

  • not one person can measure up to the greatness of karen carpenters voice...shes the greatest singer of all time and always will be in my opinion

  • Love this song, nobody can sing like Karen.

  • KC immortal voice

will ring from the top of the highest mountains.

  • She was the best !

    They were great !

  • amazing song, amazing voice

    amazing video :)

    LOVE YOU KAREN <3

  • 너무 일찍 세상을 등진것에 많이 안타까움을 느낍니다.그녀의목소리는 아직도 생생한데

  • She's not dead. She's with me everyday.

  • Thank you for that... you have brought a tear to my eye...

the world is certainly a colder place without her.. and everytime I hear her voice.. the world seems that little bit warmer...

  • she was very pretty, but way to thin. wel thats y she died. she was to thin RIP! god bless

  • i look a bit like her.

  • then you are surely a beautiful woman

  • *drool :* lol

  • KAREN WAS SO PRETTY, IT´S SAD SHE DIED

  • Yeah, you're right! She was totally unique and supremely talented. I've never heard anyone with tonal quality like Karen's, and likely never will.

  • perfect perfect perfect it is so perfect perfect perfect

  • sounds from heaven...

    so pure...

  • The Carpenters were not Mormons. They were/are Methodist.

  • Back when both the Carpenters and the Osmond Brothers played Vegas on a regular basis; I went and saw both, the Osmonds at Caeser's Palace and the Carpenters at the Riviera. Everyone knew that the Osmonds were Mormons, but only because Vegas had and has a huge Mormon population. Until now,I didn't know their religion;she sang like an angel from heaven in any case.

  • NostalgiaBob is right, the carpenters are Methodist.

  • I miss those 2 people and it's sp sorry that Karen dired so young..

What a voice they hav together ;o)

  • really nice song that is from her voice it is perfect

  • I ask you, has there ever been a more pure, gorgeous voice? This is the voice of an angel!

  • totally and completely agree with you 100%!! Karens voice was sent from heaven and there will never be another like her or The Carpenters for that matter!!!

  • you can she her dying all thru this pictorial. Its a shame not more could of been done to save her live ! I wonder if her mormon faith had anything to do with her slowing turning into a skeleton ! ? such a wondeful talent ! never be one as good as her ! I really miss karen
