@davism4a1 These guns come with like 26" long barrels and a 3 pound counter weight in the stock. This gun is now 18 inches and is ::cough cough:: 3 pounds lighter at least.

When he says bird loads he most likely means turkey loads. And the 3 1/2 ones like in this video kick you a ton. It's high brass people, not target loads.

@7zobzombie Actually...Bird loads kick harder in a shotgun because it is a compressed larger column of shot. Slugs have some recoil and so do buckshot, but bird loads always have a heavier payload.

@StiThis1 It must be a light loading. In a 12 gauge its not quite as bad as the 10 gauge, but when talking about a 10 gauge, typically bird loads kick harder because they weigh more.

@Iraqveteran8888 Eric is right, from a physics standpoint, the more force used(drams of powder) and the weight of the load is what determines the recoil. mind you that recoil is different in almost all guns because of their mechanics, weight and configuration.

@Iraqveteran8888 I know just what you are talking about. I have an old .410 H&R shotgun cut down to just under 19" barrel, matt black finish on the metal, and the wood stock has been sceletonized. Makes a nice little package. Every owner sice it was made did a major modification on it of somekind. It is my current computer desk gun loaded with 000 Buck.
