  • Thanks so much for this WONDERFUL tutorial! I finally know how to do the corners now and how to finish the binding! I made a tree skirt for the Christmas tree this year and it wouldn't have turned out so well without this video :)

  • I'm sorry Leah...I have to comment ONE more time how EXCELLENT this video is! Last quilt I used the binding tool and got a pucker! :( THIS time, I just added binding to my Hidden Stars quilt & this method works like a charm! Perfect size, perfect fit! Easy! THANK YOU!!!

  • I am relatively new to quilting and have watched LOTS of YouTube videos and have successfully done the pocket to join the ends of the binding several times and wonder why anyone would NOT. I am curious, and I totally understand that people have their own preferences and opinions. Is there a reason that you don't use a pocket? The way that you do it in this video seems so confusing and easily prone to mistakes (AKA I am prone to mistakes and tend to go for simplicity every time :)

  • @ijkwhitlock - I have no idea what a pocket is in terms of binding. I've never heard that term or seen it demonstrated, so why not make a video to share your method?

P.S - There's room for ALL techniques in this world because one method simply cannot work for everyone.

  • Thanks for this Leah, you're videos have been very helpful to me since I started quilting. I'm a 57 year old man who has found a very enjoyable past time.

  • I thought I needed a special tool to match the binding but this method worked PERFECTLY the first time! Thank you Leah for another great tutorial!!

  • Awesome, awesome, awesome!!!!

  • This is the best video on machine quilt binding - I've followed along w/ you on my last 3 quilts (which are also my 1st 3) and your method works like a charm!

Thank you for taking the time!

  • Wow I love ur method! I have been looking for a better way to machine bind my quilts. My hands go numb so I'm unable to do the hand sewing thing. I checked out ur other posts and love your much younger approach to quilting!! Any ideas for free motion quilting large quilt such as a log cabin?

  • You really cleared up how to turn the corner. Corners give me the blues. Thanks.

  • This is FANTASTIC, at one time I had a book on binding but I am in the mountains now, the book is at home, I looked this up and this is much better than the book. Thank you so much for this help on the computer. The best help ever.

  • Another way to joing your quilt binding at the end, is to overlap your binding by the width of the binding. For example, if your binding is 2 1/4 wide, overlap your beginning binding and end binding by 2 1/4, stitch diagonally as shown in the video, trim, and continue binding. This trick can be used for any width of binding.

  • @cmgriffin1 That's the way I do it... I will measure the width of my binding... and sew on the diagonal. She iterates that you should TEST your pinned perpindicular binding.. haha.. ASK ME HOW I KNOW.. lol (it's a 50/50 chance I get it right the 1st time..

  • This is excellent, I've used your method now 4 times and it works wonderfully. This is fast and easy beautiful. Thank you so much and please do post other hints and methods you have.

  • The best video I have seen that tells you simply how to bind your quilt, made it very easy to understand. GOOD JOB!

  • Wow, thank you so much for this tutorial! I am so intimidating by binding a quilt. This makes it so much easier!

  • Wonderful tutorial! Thank you!

  • I don't use a walking foot. I just make sure my stitches are set a little longer and the tension is set at a looser stitch. I have never had a problem. I don't like the walking foot it makes my binding baggy.

  • Do you HAVE to use a walking foot cause I don't have one, can't a just use a quarter inch foot?

  • If your quilting is very dense and close together, no, you don't have to use a walking foot to attach your binding.

But if your quilt is quilted normally with minimal stitching, you really should use a walking foot to make sure the quilt and the binding stays even.

  • @MyLittleGreenThumb I've never been able to attach binding with a regular foot without getting alot of bunching and pinching of the binding fabric andor quilt. A walking foot makes it SO much easier.... and prettier

  • Thanks for sharing this information and presenting at a good pace for a beginning quilt maker. I've watched 3x as I am working my way through the binding steps.

  • thanks. that made the corner nice and easy.

  • Thanks to youtube I have nearly completed my first quilt without taking a quilting class, and this video has put my binding fears to rest. I'll definitely have my lap top on my sewing table.
