Strange that such a master rushes through the Liszt, omitting many of the beautiful elements, notes and whole parts of the rhapsody. Just for the cheap effect to have played it faster than anyone else? Liszt is already known for his effect music in many pieces, but this performance even kills Liszt. Disturbing indeed.

I have a Small Bayan Accordion but I can't find any literature in English on how to play the thing??? Any Help???

@sonofjabba a bayan is to play like an ordinary chromatic button accordion, so you can take literature for this. well, if you are an advanced player you probably would hear or feel differences (but they are even differences from accordion to accordion) and i think, bayans must have a little bit more weight on average compared with a button accordion with as much buttons because they have more "chöre" (don't know the word in english, i'm sorry).

Don't get me wrong, this guy is incredible, but I feel sometimes he sacrifices the piece to show off some of his skill. Especially at the beginning, its like he's cramming it all together faster without pausing to savor the sound. I would love to hear him play it slowed down and with a more human feeling. I'm sure it would be actually easier for him to do it that way.

I wish he would have taken more time though... almost the entire piece is rushed through! There are so many opportunities for great musicality in this piece, but the speed contributes to a lack of clarity for all the awesome details...

Actually, this piece is much more difficult on the piano, than on a button accordion. I play both. I have played both pieces on piano and bayan. On a piano, it's VERY difficult. On bayan, it's an order of magnitude less difficult. Just like most things. Buttons just look complex, but are much easier to play once you get the hang of them.

This is the kind of Russian school playing I adore. Romanko is a great classical artist. Absolutely splendid.

His bayan sounds great, but I can't get rid of the feeling that it could sound better. The left hand especially should speak out more and its acoustic should be able to match the right hand. These are not Romanko's fault, but guys like Romanko make me wish someone would redesign the accordion from the ground up.

I don't think there's anything wrong with his banyan. The audio recording environment (reverb of the room) and engineering (poorly placed microphones) is the root of the sound problems.
