@LukeBaines756 This was a wee while before "White Wedding" . This was from 1980. WW was 1982. You want similarities?Take a listen to "Elstree" by Buggles and "As Good As New".by Abba. That really does sail close to the wind of plagiarism. The song was also covered by Bruce Wooley and the Camera Club..
@Gilesfly I'm not sure why you think there is a striking similarity between Elstree and As Good As New by Abba. I don't think the Buggles needed to plagiarise. There's a riff on "Living In The Plastic Age" that is reminiscent of that killer riff on "Gimme Gimme Gime" too. These are nothing more than coincidence. Trevor Horn was a music legend
in his own right. He gave Dollar a new lease of life after the Buggles folded and made a not insignificant contribution to the success of Bucks Fizz
There is indeed a faint resemblance to "White Wedding", also the centre section (2:29 onwards) is very similar to "Hall of the Mountain King". Also, the last section reminds me of "I Feel Love". The Buggles prodiuced brilliant singles, much misunderstood and much maligned.
@opedroefeio : uhhhhhhh, It's the 80's. Every song had a weird synthesizer. A lot of saxophones. A lot of weird keyboards. That's what makes it the 80's. The 90's had garbage. The 80's had synth.
I like Adventures in modern recording as well, but I think my favorite would have to be The age of plastic. I actually just got The age of plastic, and Adventures in modern recording off Ebay for $8.00 shipped. Sucks that I lost my other cds though. :(
Very "White Wedding". Trevor Horn is a production genius.

Great tune! I believe the original version was conceived by Bruce Woolley & The Camera Club - just like "Video Killed the Radio Star".

the end sounds like a spin off of the pac man theme

I like the last part of the song, never understood why they did not a new song with that part.

People who like this song from beginning to end have bad taste in music, enough said.

@LukeBaines756 Yeah, similarities in the tempo, one of the synth arpeggios and probably the same key(or close). Good song though!

There's a lot of "Rebel Yell" in the general spirit of the song, and the synth lines.

Yeah the drum beat is more or less the same in the intro.
Adventures In Modern Recording is my favorite Buggle Album by far though....
It is one of the best produced and recorded albums I have ever heard and it is a very hard to get album these days.
It has sold for up to $300 dollars.
