  • grrr trying to get this game to work on My emulator but I can't read Japanese !!! >_<

  • when he is laughing PAAPPAPAPAPAPPAPAPAPPAPA!!23!ONE

  • esse eo strider do ps1

  • This game was pretty good, but the fact that you could start up from where you just got killed really took away from the game, It made it so you didn't really have to try, just get as many extra lives as possible so you could run through it. Now, the Nintendo version , loved that game:)

  • @JasonLee215 This owns the pc engine version.I have the pc engine version. It has better music and cut scenes and thats it.No scrolling backgrounds either

  • the graphics are incredible however that stupid HA HA HA blade swipe sound effect is very annoying. they should have left it alone with just the sound of the metal blade swinging through the air

  • Yeah! kill thier asses! they're breaking your "Stride"!

  • in soviet russia , papapappa kills you

  • @steevan After months of unwitty Soviet Russia-jokes, this one made me laugh.

  • Fucking Awesome!

  • You will never leave Eurasia alive!

  • Bobobobobobobobo

  • Very much like the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis version it seems.

  • @jkeelsnc More identical to the original arcade version than the MD/GEN version.

  • papapapapapapapapapapap papapapapappaapaapapaapapapaapapappapaapapapapappaapapapapappapap papapapapapaaappapapapaappapapapapap

  • Appears virtually identical to the MD/Genesis version.

  • @jkeelsnc More identical to the original arcade version than the MD/GEN version.

  • nice but u miss the iron panther!

  • @lordofzeapes

How the heck do you even GET that thing?!

  • @RocMegamanX hi! u can have the iron pantera by destroying all flying robots, u know when u destroy a little robot u have one which follows u, if u destroy a second one u have two little robots wichs follow u, if u manage to keep those little robots(if ur wounded u loose one and its over for the pantera!) after it combine in a pantera.

  • ROFL what the hell?! You mean to tell me that the "real" Strider was making that hysterical "pap pap pap" all these years and we Americans got the silenced version? That's nuts.

This is one of my all-time favorite childhood games - and there's no doubt in my head that I would have thought Strider was retarded if he was making that noise all day. I thought Strider was a 'chill bro' - this is totally devastating.

  • REMOVE THIS F*****G MOUSE CURSOR !!!

  • the soviet union will try to take over the world in the year 2048. you can see the AD 2048 at the start of the game!

  • Very perceptive. You should be proud of yourself.

  • @genx1973 i am preparing now by writing to congress and heads of state of all countries!

  • needs to be in 4:3 as 16:9 widescreen is taking it away from your good video .

  • Good gear !

STRIDER ARCADE (score480,050)1 credit complete(PLAYER ben.shinobi) can be seen at my account .

  • Kazakh SSR?

So that is the Soviet Union?

  • Strider飛竜, Awesome game! My favorite arcade game at that time for many years. :)

  • Hey Toneman, I'm hoping you might be able to help me.

I've got WinX68K up and running, and I can play any game, except Capcom games! Final Fight, DaiMakaiMura and Strider start to load, but I quickly get returned to the command prompt. Capcom conversions are the main reason I downloaded the emu, but I can't find any info on the web. Is there a menu option I have to select? Cheers.

  • Ah, I found some info. It seems as though my bios roms are not the correct ones (even though they run all non-Capcom games). I just wish that I could find these roms (broken links). Oh well.

  • i love this game, megadrive port is really great but i miss the voices"Strider Hiryu He will never leave Eurasia alive..."epic

  • I'll bet Russians just love this game.

  • Fun times. The X68000 had AWESOME ports. See Gradius, Gradius II, ... Thunder Force II... Well, they're mostly Konami, except for that last one. But still.

Plus, it may or may not have the definitive version of oft remade Castlevania (Although that has a definitive itself on PS1)...

  • I like these russian robots with ushanka hats :D

  • Oh for crissakes move the damn mouse pointer already...

  • Hahaha! Indeed! xD

  • "huh hahahuhuhahhuh hahuh huhuhah"

  • THIS GAME SHOULD GET TONS OF AWARDS FROM E3 !!! BEST GGRAPHICS BEST GAME BEST CINEMATICS BEST .. BEST... BEST OF THE BEST !!! oh yeah I'M NOT JOKING !!!

  • The X68000 was the workstation/base machine for CPS games creation. The CPS system is a sort of X68000 "stand-alone console" version.

  • Yes, however, the CPS is more powerful than X68000 -max number of sprites-: X68K: 128 CPS: 256 -Background tile layers- X68K: 2 CPS: 3 -colors- X68K: 256 out of 65,536 CPS: 2048 out of 65,536 with that said, most early CPS games dont push the hardware all the way, so X68K can do CPS games near-perfectly.
  • @airraideagle : The X68K has 128 sprites, like CPS ;

It also has 3 playfield like CPS ; it uses 256 max on screen like CPS.

  • Seriously, you couldn't move your mouse out of the way? It's both funny and annoying. :P

  • it mans that it can't read the file. please check the disc (romz) and press spacebar :)

  • Great conversion. Makes the Mega Drive effort look very poor (although it's obviously still great as well)

  • I find it funny how Strider shouts everytime he uses his sword. Sometimes whenever I played the Genesis version I would tap the attack button to make it sound like he's singing a military marching song or a symphony of sorts.

  • Ha HA Ha HA HAHAHAHAHAHA

  • HOA HOA HOA HOA

  • Simply INCREDIBLE!!!!... I had no idea that the Sharp X68000 ever existed until today!! I was always a C64 and Amiga user and fan back in the day, but it seems that along with the Acorn Archimedes that the Amiga had a superior rival in the form of the X68000!!!

The things you learn years later hey.

  • I remember when I learned of the X68000 in 2002, I was blown away. It played so many awesome arcade ports which put to shame the versions that were on the Megadrive, Amiga, SNES and TG16.

The Japanese had the coolest machines, like FM Towns and X68000.

  • Oh most definitely! If this port is anything to go by it would have wiped the floor back then and it did but only in Japan it seems which is a huge shame!

So here was me in 1990 thinking that my Amiga was the most powerful thing available for the time and not knowing that the X68000 existed which i find really strange because i constantly buying a magazine called ACE that covered "every" system and technological aspects of that time, so why that wasn't mentioned is beyond me?

  • I remember the FM Towns though, it was a very powerful CD based system with souped up versions of Dungeon Master, It Came From the Desert and i suppose a plethora of its own independent Japanese titles :)

Actually one of the magazines i was buying had a competition to win one, but since the Magazine was a British publication and we always seem to receive it a month later, i could not enter to try and win it :(

  • this game is really awesome

  • characters are larger on the Mega Drive version

  • No they're not.

X68000 characters are all the same size as the arcade.

  • Great game.

  • pah pah pah pah pah

    Jeeze. :/

  • lol he slashes rly fast....

  • Amazing, superior to the arcade version.

  • Contrary to what many of you think this is essentially the arcade version. It was first developed on a x68000 by capcom as these were the machines they developed their cps 1 games! its a carbon coppy of the arcade (the arcade may be partially smoother due to extra video ram). The pc engine version is sloppy by comparison and graphics arent as sharp even the genesis/megadrive version is superior in both graphics, speed and animation.. The music is amazing on the pc engine version.

  • @deenowski Wow, that's just like how klax was developed on an Amiga and both of those ports look the same :D

  • @y2k4ever1 I remember Klax well but wasnt aware that it was developed on amiga hardware. Lets face it the x68k blows the amiga out of the water (i am a huge amiga fan though, but not of amiga strider = YUK). You know if i was aware of the x68ks existence as a kid, i would have bought one just for Street Fighter 2, it too is amazing!

  • @deenowski True, and that makes me wonder, when i looked this computer up, it said it was a part of the generation that the NES and Sega Master System were in, and i look at this and this looks as good as a damn arcade cabinet, i think there might have been a mistake on their part this looks great, especially the port of gradius 2, perfect, i would try to buy one of these marvelous machines myself if it weren't for the fact their so expensive, well cheers! :D

  • One of my favorites. Only drawback is it wasn't long enough, and not quite hard enough for me. The anti gravity scene was a little difficult at first.

  • he is a kind of aladin fron the future...-.-

  • Dude, It's russia, not arabic

  • 2048 A.D.

  • You can always tell when someone is playing this.

"HA. HA HA HA HA. HAHAHAHAHAHA."

    "RWAAARWAAAAA."

    "HAHAHAHAHA."

  • This game has the best design, the graphics are still beautiful today. This Eastern future which is a mix of communism and Orthodox Christianity, the full moon, the onion domes... Just so weird.

I still remember that frustrating feeling of the jump, you're in the air so long with no control you never know if you're going to land on something bad.

  • Did you manage to get past the first level by now? If not, I could help you.

  • WTF??!! It uses same music as in MD version

  • guys i remeber this game and plz let me know if i can download it cz i was searching for it from a long time and didn't find it..so plz help me..thank u

  • Im impresed. The Megadrive version was good but this version kicks the crap out of it. It plays just like the arcade and PS2 versions

  • and the PSP version.

  • papapapapapapapapapapapapa

  • papaapaapapapapap pappapapapaap papapapapapapapappap!!!

  • @MEGAS1LORD1DEVIN I agree.

  • This game kicks ass!

  • papaapaapapapapap pappapapapaap papapapapapapapappap pappapapapapa apappappapapa

  • @ZhaoYun17 I disagree.

  • the game was fun but strider two with Hein was awesome after you finished this game they gave you a bonus stage to play in 2 if you had a memory card

  • Fking love this game<3

  • If you're still curious, it says at the end it can't read the file, something about the disc, and tells you to press the space key.

  • this game is hard core

  • Strider Super-Grafx (better version)

    482 Colors on screen

    Strider Sharp X68000

    256 Colors on screen

  • In your dreams.

1.) SuperGrafx strider was never released.

2.) X68000 is more powerful than SuperGrafx

    X68000 color palette: 65,536

    SuperGrafx color palette: 512

SuperGrafx Strider was going to be 8 or 10 megabits.

X68000 Strider ROM was as large as the arcade, 43 megabits.

Compare Ghouls 'n Ghosts released on SuperGrafx to the X68000 version.

X68000 Ghouls 'n Ghosts absolutely DESTROYS the SuperGrafx version.

  • good stuff.. i ain't seen this in years.

  • Wow, he yells after every attack. Brings back good memories of Mega Man X4 when you're playing as Zero.

  • The X68000 has amazing specs for its time. I wish I'd known about it when it was released. Kind of like Japan's answer to the Amiga. Sweet!

  • This looks closer to the arcade then the genesis/megadrive version.

  • yes of course.

Genesis/MegaDrive version was 8 megabits. arcade was 43 megabits

    (over 5 times more ROM!)

also the arcade used the 16-bit CPS hardware which was MUCH more powerful than MD/Genesis.

the X68000 was very close in graphics performance to CPS. Also since the X68000 discs could hold much more than 8 megabits of ROM, they could have all the original arcade sprites, backgrounds, artwork, sound, etc. with very little downgrade (almost none). only a little flicker

  • more parallax in this than the megadrive

  • true.

  • i hate that yelling noise strider makes wen he attacks >.< , the music sounds like its going a lil to fast

  • one of the best games ever

  • wow! It actually sounds like the arcade game!

  • This games soundtrack is a masterpiece and should be played by symphony orchestras. I wonder whatever happened to Junko Tamiya, the composer?

  • Man, so close. Darn error.

  • That "HA!" sounds more like a "PUH!"

  • LMAO

  • I like the Genesis version the best because, though it doesn't look as pretty, it doesn't have that damn hahahahahahahahaha...

  • the "hahahahah" was only in the Japanese release of the game, on all versions.

  • LOL. the Genesis version was a piece of shit compared to the Arcade CPS original, the extremely close X68000, PS1 version and PS2/Xbox versions in Capcom Classics Collection vol 2 (and PSP CCCR)

  • For the time, the Genesis port was amazing considering the differences in hardware (unless CPS had the Motorola CPU also). I'm sure very few people back then were disapointed with the port.

  • What was I thinking, of course CPS was Motorola.

Well, in anycase, since the X68k version was superior, few had the chance to experience it outside Japan for some time and as a result of having the Genesis game at our disposal was more than enough.

  • the Megadrive/Genesis Strider was not a port (a term that's massively overused) It was a conversion. Yes, there's a difference.

port means all the original art / graphics/ music / gamecode, etc is used.

conversion means the game is redrawn, reprogrammed, remade, etc. to fit within the limitations of a different (usually weaker) system.

Strider was ported to X68000, PS1, PSP, PS2, Xbox

  • um, the x68k port was a conversion as well.

  • The MD/Genesis and CPS *both* had a Motorola 68000 CPU. That's NOT what made the main difference. What made the CPS so much more powerful were its custom graphic chip(s) that were far more powerful than the graphic chip in MD/Genesis. Also, CPS (like other arcade boards like Sega's own System 16 and NEO-GEO) used much larger ROMs. CPS Strider was 43 megabit, whereas MD/Genesis Strider was only 8 megabit, which was large for the time, for a home game, but not comparable to the arcade ROM.

  • All of the Japanese versions have that.

  • Yeah, I have the ROM on MAME for it. Makes me wonder why it was taken out when it comes to the US version...

  • The MegaDrive / Genesis version SUCKS compared to the X68000 version.

  • Final Fight for the system is quite good too.

  • Brings back memories of the Mega Drive version I've played when I was a kid. Awesome game!!!

  • The cursor is evil!

  • I guess you're right the Sharp X68000 is a fickle system! Stupid errors gah!>_<

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahah heah heah h hahahahahhaahahahh

That's all I hear in this vid lol

  • I think you have switch disks to play certain levels. My guess with the "errors" you are getting.

  • The message says:

"File cannot be read. Please check the disk and press the space key."

  • Nearly perfect to it's arcade countor part.

  • Wow that is all I can say is wow great port I hate his yell when he swings his sword very annoying.

  • Yeah the port is right on! His yelling grated my nerves too though. Especially given how much you need to swing your Cipher in Strider. LOL

  • it's not as annoying in marvel vs capcom. hiryu's badass <3

  • Question sir. Is WinX68x an emulator? And too agreed, THAT's how an arcade port should be handled..we here in the US missed out big :(

  • I apologize about the cursor. I thought I had the hide cursor option turned on.
