Help: i am using my electronic drum set to play guitar hero: world tour. i have the MIDI cable hooked up and everything is working.. except my "green". the green pad on the actual guitar hero set works, but it doesn't go through on my electronix drum set. help!
@TheRockinQ Yeah same here. It seems to be when Im hitting 2 pads at he same time, it adds an extra hit or two. Not sure if this is because of a slow processor or USB port. I know its the computer adding the hit, because the midi cable LED flashes with each note out.
@TheRockinQ I had one of those eureka moments today and realised how to work round it.
I have a Roland kit, which allows me to change the "gate time" for each pad, I've set it to the max of 8 secs. Now I used the program as well and my testing showed no more extra notes.
Seems to me that the software cant keep up with too many notes at the same time and lets a OffNote get thru. You will see on the program that sometimes a pad stays highlighted, thats it screwing up.
@TheRockinQ Ive got a TD6. Had a look at the TD3 manual. It seems its the one option you dont have for creating/editing your own kit. Its a shame, because "gate time" allows the OffNote to be sent up to 8 secs after the on, which reduces the amount of OffNotes the software has to remove.
The only option for you now would be to find some software like Cubase and use it to filter those notes with it.
Hey. Thanks for the tutorial. IWhen i hit the pads it types letters, but as soon as I am in guitar hero, it doesnt register. Do you have any idea what could be wrong? Thanks again
Thanks, it really works. I have given up playing Guitar Hero for a while because I can't use my eletronic drums to play it. I bought Mad Catz Rock Band 3 MIDI Pro Adaptor to play Rockband instead. Some songs only come with the Guitar Hero games, so I really appreciate your free software.
I play Piano in a 60's 70's tribute band that play all the classics from that time. Just like all muso'c im looking to find really good Midi's to perform with. I've bought so many good Midi's but now I'm looking to find fellow Muso'c who will do and honest trade with great quality Midi's, saving us both $14 per track by helping eachother. send me a note via youtube and lets trade.
Then turned all pads to 8.0 sec. The pads fire once after the gate closes at 8 seconds. You will get a few random hits but the game is still playable. Sounds like the Midi Filter is a virus according to previous posts...
Hey dude I have a DTXPLORER Yamaha Electronic Drum Set with the midi out on the back of it and I've connected my GHWT drums to it and only some of the pads work, can you please tell me what I need to do to sync all the pads to the right note?
@lowe2009 You have to set every individual pad in your drum kit the the right midi number associated with the coloured pad on the kit u want it to represent. You can get these midi numbers on lots of videos and google. Hope that helped :)
(Your english is TERRIBLE, but assuming that you're french it's GREAT ;-)

Q: Have you ever thought about developing a controller which REPLACES the GWHT drumkit, so you can drive GH (or BH or what else) direct from Your Roland (or Yamaha, or....) MIDI drumkit? Perhaps via PC, but WITHOUT the need of der GH drumkit?
Yes I know about this, i've tried to fix this but there's no direct solution. In order this to work I should create a fake keyboard driver that emulates the presence of a real keyboard. But it's a bit difficult and actually I don't have so much time to try this.
I am sorry but it seems that there is no chance that Guitar Hero detects any signal from the midi drum filter!!!
I have signal on every drum when i check it on your midi drum filter. i also see (nearly all) correct keys, when i switch to keyboard-mode. But in Game only the Keyboard works! btw: Your key-mapping had some faults in it.
The bad thing is, that you could not change the input-device manually in game!!! Seems that the GH Drumset is detected automatically!
I hope that anyone could find a solution for this problem!! I won't buy this f******-low quality-Drumset only for standing in the corner of my room.... :(
hi,same thing here, about the key mapping, theres 1 thing i seen, its not the same key when you play a song and when you are in studio.
the key's on this lil prog are correct,it should work in game, but in studio keys are "left-shift",<,w,x,c or something close,i dont remember wich key is the bass pedal.
Btw i tried all i could too,and no way to make it work with my TD12....i stopped to try....
Because today i just went and bought a midi cable*without usb* and connected it and had the double hit problem, but then the PC doesnt have midi input=/
I'm attempting to connect my Roland TD4 to PC using the GH Midi-USB Cable supplied by Activision (sensitivity fix), but no notes are activated within GH Drum Midi Filter. Anyone know if the cable only works with GH Drum Kit? Any ideas?
I'm having the exact same problem and came here looking for an answer also. I'm afraid (guessing) that since the GH USB-MIDI Interface is used to send signals to the GH drums MIDI-IN port, that it's a one way cable (output only), and that we won't be able to send MIDI input back through USB. :(
I can hit a note on the program and it will sound in my headphones (which are connected to my drumset). However, if I hit my drumset, the program doesn't register the hits.
The problem is the game..........If i open the notepad and hit some pads, i write some letters....but in guitar hero WT doesn't work....i try to use this method with guitar hero 3 but.....doesn't work.....guitar Hero doesn't know the programm or the drum.......
Same problem here! (PC) I can play all drum pads, if i open a word-document i can see all of the letters (but in doubletime!) and if i play GH:WT in keyboard mode i can't get this thing working! Maybe the problem is this doubletime lettering??? I got: rr oo yy gg bb pp Please help!! I will stay in contact to be your BETA-Tester! ;-)
ça peut le faire en effet puisque mon soft fait office de midi mapper, par contre il faut que je l'améliore pour qu'on puisse y sélectionner les notes d'entrée.

Maybe u can help me: i have a Yamaha DTXplorer, and i connected it via midi-usb cable to my pc,so i can use it as a midi controller in DTXmania for example. But my GH:WT(pc version) couldnt recognise it:(
Yeah, I know some versions of the game don't suffer from double hit problem. I made this software for the ones you have a bad set or game version (not sure where the source of the problem is).
Hello, i connected my drum kit, its working, but i have one problem, i cant make all colors working on one drum set, i set one drum set works all collors but dont work one collor, if i change drum set, other collor dont work, all works, i can change voices but no sense, same, any ideas? i found a MIDI out and MIDI in cable that is attached to USB. the MIDIs are male. and stick in to the drum module (MIDIout), computer (USB), and MIDIin cable into the GH drum set. its all plug and play. found it at bestbuy about $60.
i would like my kit to work. i have Roland TD-6, wii console, GHWT game and plastic drums. i am getting double triggering! it looks like i need a computer with MIDI in/out and your program. where do you get computers with MIDI in/out?
i got it to work. you are the man!!! there is a slight delay but its playable. maybe you can add a delay/antidelay part to your next version of your software program. thank you!!! now i can ROCK!!
Sure there's a little delay because the computer needs to deal with the whole midi message and then sent it to the GH drumset, then the drumset capture the new message and sends it to the game ...
Everything you need to do is to adjust the audio and video delay in the game settings (add about 20ms to both values). After that you even don't feel any delay while playing the game notes (but you can still hear a little when the game let's you play directly).
The double hit only occurs on Wii (to my knowledge). If you have a 360 or PS3, you can edit some of the numbers on the drum brain, plug it into the GHWT drums, and you're good to go.
They have a usb midi kit at radio shack now.. here' s one option.. order your 'drum tuning kit' from red octane.. then, have your friend get one too (they're free, go to redoctane website upper left corner there's a link) plug both in.. set one as in, one as out.. you're good to go.. OR--- just go to radio shack buy a midi in/out $30, ebay half that price... I have no double hit problems --but going to get this anyway could be useful.
thanks i tried this at a friends house and it worked but unfortunatly i can't do it at home because i don't have a computer next to my e-drum kit.. anyway thank you
Yes, if you add a midi in/out interface (over USB for example) to your PC, then GH Drum Midi Filter wiil deal with this, even if it's not integrated in your PC motherboard. In fact most of midi interface are external ones, In my case I successfully use the input and output of a US-144 audio device.
if you still need the midi input for ur PC, there is a little box called a "Midi-Sport" and all you need is that little box and 2 midi cables. Hook one midi cable to the MIDI out on your drum kit and plug the other end to the MIDI in on the MIDI-Sport, then plug the other MIDI cable to the MIDI out on your MIDI-Sport and plug the other end of that into your GHWT drum kit, and plug the USB cable on the MIDI-Sport into the computer
Yes we went to the same conclusion, there are different versions of the electronics of the kit that don't respond the same way.
I will try with the "different looking" drum kit of my friend if I can (his cymbals don't have the same surface aspect has mine). The inside may also be different.
Other subject : In the next version of my soft I will add note remapping, so that you'll be able to revert symmetry of the kit without edit it in your drum settings.
nice, so did you see my video and then just try it and you had this problem? or did you already know about this function on GHWT but creating the software took long?

checco802 2 years ago
You must plug the midi Output of your drumset into the input of your PC, then select your midi-in interface in the midi input list.
In the output list, select "keyboard". Then to test you may open notepad and hit some pads, it should write some letters.
In the game you must configure the drum as a keyboard, and set the following touch mapping :
red letter : R
orange letter : O
yellow : Y
green G
Blue B
kick P
The problem : I don't have the game so you are my beta testers ;-)

EnduroRenne 2 years ago
UPDATE:
GH:WT has no options for changing key-settings!
so you have to use standard configs:
W,E,R,T = Yellow
Z, U, I, O = Blue
S,D,F,G = Red
H,J,K,L = Green
Shift = Starpower (i think Orange)
Spacebar = Pedal
so there are always 4 buttons configured for one drum or cymbal... except shift button and spacebar

I can only get Midi Out not IN. I have . Any suggestions?

Yes, you can only see the standard windows midi mapper output, it's not a real output it just plays sounds directly on your computer.
In other word this means that your don't have any midi in/out natively on your system.
It's not a big problem, you can do as
jimisalsojames did, just buy a cheap midi to usb interface and it will work. perhaps you could ask him which one worked for him ?

Hi Rcbot. my pc does not have midi in/out. would your software work if i got a midi box in/out with usb connection to pc
jimisalsojames 3 years ago
Hello,
Yes, if you add a midi in/out interface (over USB for example) to your PC, then GH Drum Midi Filter wiil deal with this, even if it's not integrated in your PC motherboard. In fact most of midi interface are external ones, In my case I successfully use the input and output of a US-144 audio device.

what if u dont have a midi in put or out put on ur pc?
cardshark87 3 years ago
Errr, how to say that ... I'm sorry there's no way to deal with midi signals with a software on a PC if you don't have any input and output.
But you shouldn't be pessimistic, it seems that not everybody suffer from this anoying double hit problem.

:) ok thanks!

if you still need the midi input for ur PC, there is a little box called a "Midi-Sport" and all you need is that little box and 2 midi cables.

I see your video after trying this.
The reason I just released it it's because I own the guitar hero kit since end of december, so I couldn't test before.
But in your video you don't seem to have this double touch problem, do you ?
I notice that the kit of a friend of mine have some physical differences with my GH kit. Perhaps it exists different versions of the firmware too.
To everybody : "Could you tell if your version of GH drum kit suffer from this problem ?"
Thx for comment

I didn't have this problem, but this could be from two reasons:
1. Different game system=different configuration (i.e. i have a ps2, you have a Wii)
2. Different Drum Kit- It could be the fact that you have a different drum kit, but i see that you have a TD-9, and i have a TD-9.
In saying this, i believe that it is just because it's the Wii version, but i could be wrong...
