  • if you have the copy of the movie The prince of tides and Nuts please post i love to watch that movies of babs but cannot find it in youtube the full movie was remove

  • Great song wrong dance

  • The girl can sing!!!

  • @brucegbean ikr shes amazing <3

  • Probably the worst number in a series of bad ones from this sad disappointment of a sequel to "Funny Girl". Barbra as the great white Goddess, standing nearly stationary as the Black dancers salam before her, is an embarrassment. What the hell was she thinking?

  • @johnmcmarlin I don't think she was really seeing it that way. I think she saw it as beautiful the dancing was amazing and Quite frankly I liked it !

  • @johnmcmarlin ok, let's see your video sweet pea!

  • @johnmcmarlin I agree that the sequel was a sorry dissappointment (though "Funny Girl" is flawed as a film, too) but you're missing a point: this song is reproducing what would have taken place back then when blacks were (usually) only allocated supportive roles to white performers. And with that stunning voice, who cares if she can't quite manage real gospel....??

    .

  • @johnmcmarlin I think her incomparable voice suffices.

  • Love Barbra, I even like this number (mostly due to nostalgia- from my childhood love la Babs). No I do not think she can sing gospel! Adding black, gospel voices to the background does not good gospel make. She does hold her own vocally though (no doubt about that). Dont want to get into the many debates on YouTube about music & artists, this is just my opinion (from a fellow vocalist- who also doesnt do gospel very well... and I'm black!).

    peace

  • I love this song. I only wish whoever posted it should have downloaded the ENTIRE song from beginning to end. The best part was omitted when Babs hits the highnote before diving into this classic.

  • Boobs!!

  • A great performance from a very not so great movie.

  • This should be called "The Great White Woman" number.

  • y esta de cara a la vida ,al futuro ,al amor!

    besos!

  • C'EST TRES BEAU, cela fait comme une revue de music hall bravo

  • As a long-time Barbra Streisand fan, it has always boggled my mind why she has been insecure about her looks. She has a very unique air of beauty about her and in this number she looks FANTASTIC. What an incredible outfit! She has always had the most beautiful complexion and such gorgeous eyes...color, shape, everything. Her figure has always been beautiful and her legs in this number...WOW! Of course, the voice is everything and she is so incredibly versatile. She can sing anything. Brava!

  • well we all agree Streisand could do Gospel right?

oh boy she has done it all

there is only one Brabra Streisand!

  • Funny Lady is full of wonderfully dramatic melodic balads like this ,so well done by Miss Streisand ,that make a musical worth buying!

    Dear Lordy bless her!

i also think this pre ''MTV'' times number steals a show!

  • The voice!

  • I love "Funny Girl" but I've never seen "Funny Lady". Could you tell me if it really is as good as the first movie? I have a doubt about it. I'm hesitating to buy it

  • IMAGINENSEN POR UN MOMENTO SOLO UN SHOW CON BARBRA...LIZA...MIREILLE Y SHIRLEY BASSEY Y ARETHA.....HUVIERA SIDO UN ESCANDALO........

  • what a bad dancer she has always been lol but even gospel she can hit

  • I wish someone would post this song from the VERY beginning where Streisand's dramatic note comes to climax before she delves into the song.

  • Love this song!!!

  • "She was under contract"

  • i luv Barbara but i think this UPBEAT quartet version is more fitting to the lyrics

    ww.youtube.com/watch?v=RXGwB9n-TlI

it wouldnt let me put in the full address so you have to add another W to the front of it

  • @WNYChristianRio

her name is not Barbara but Barbra ,she has used to artistically for 53 years now!

  • Comment removed

  • I love how there is no rhythm to the clapping. lol Other than that, Barbra is PERFECT like BUTTAH!

  • @lewisbreland HA. HA! i feel you..but.theres actually a lot of rhythm to the clapping, its this whole crazy syncopated section, the recording is much longer and they do it for a while, but trimmed it for the movie

  • @lewisbreland

it is made like that to sound ''odd'' wich is artistically an achivement!

  • what a voice. wow.

  • I wonder how close the acting of Streisand was to the real Fanny Brice. While this number was written by Billy Rose, it has a very un-1930s sound to it. To me I would find it interesting to hear the songs to how they were really arranged.

  • @lavalampluva55401 The original "Great Day" was on youtube at one time. I can't find it lately. I hope somebody who has it wouldn't mind reposting!

  • @lavalampluva55401 You can hear many of Brice's original versions (not this one though)....she was a better singer than one would imagine for a goofy comediene, but...well, she ain't no Streisand. But, who is?

  • that turbine is campy

  • @WarriorOfWriters I think you mean turban, a turbine would've sent the poor woman into the stratosphere LOL!

  • Where are the first several seconds of the beginning of the song?

  • @goldbergje You are obviously referring to the amazing "angels in the skyYYYYYYYYYYYYYY" verse at the beginning of the song from the original theatrical release. You are obviously a true Streisand aficionado! It boggles the mind that they would cut those thrilling 10 seconds of Barbra hitting that note.

  • So bad that it made me laugh out loud! What an ill conceived number. It's hard to believe that anyone thought this was a wise use of time, talent, and Barbra. (And I generally LIKE Barbra...)

  • All the negoes are acting like Barbra is a goddess

  • @cafemartini She is a goddess.

  • @cafemartini

it was very much the ''style of the times''

i would never call them ''negroes'' but the normal name ''blacks''

they are recreating ,lets say ''Queen Shabba Court'' that was sopoussed to be very dark indeed ,a topic to which jews and christians and true muslins can all relate

to me not a bad concept at all

  • gives me chills every time :^)

  • Funny Old Kroc-1985.

  • @Brahmsfourth For the love of your family, you should check into a mental hospital right away.

  • @mannail888 Thank you for the sage advice. While there, I will perform this number, in drag, to an unbiased appreciative audience.

  • @Brahmsfourth Just notify me the venue and date, I definitely would pay a visit there to see how well, or how bad, do you execute.

  • @mannail888 You're a funny Man!

  • @billygoyboy How funny, please elaborate.

  • @Brahmsfourth i disagree!

  • Wouaw, it is such a relief when she finally stops screaming, that's almost worth looking it. Almost...

  • Hello Georgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! babs th elegs are awsome!! one of THE!! greatest singers of all time!!!!! love ya babs

  • Is there anyone like unto Barbra?

  • A "Great Day" and a great song. Barbra just knocked 'em dead with this rendition. When this movie was first released, I played the record for my grandparents, who had seen the real Fanny Brice. They told me she was a good singer.......then they heard Barbra and said 'but she couldn't sing like that!" A good movie, not up to the level of the original Funny Girl, way too long, poorly edited. But Streisand said in interviews that she purposely played the older Fanny as more cynical and worldly.

  • I maybe wrong...but i have not seen anyone make the "relative" connection between Ray Stark and Fanny Brice! Fanny was Ray Stark's mother-in-law!!! He married her daughter Fran Arnstein!

  • Thank you Barbra for every song you have sung the world should kiss your whatever you want kissed , your voice is heaven to anyone who listens ! Thanks again,Have a Great Day All !!!

  • But Barbra is the ultimate professional. And once she commits to a project Barbra gives 110%. And this film was no different.

  • This movie used a lot of the same team that worked on "Funny Girl." Films had changed greatly between 1968 & 1975 and musicals were considered old fashioned. So naturally this version has a little more grit to it. Barbra is playing Fanny a lot closer to who she really was. Remember, the producer Ray Stark was Fanny Brice's son-in-law. Also it is true Barbra never wanted to make this film but was forced to to avoid going to court.

  • I believe she was indeed legally committed to a three picture deal with Ray Stark, but I'm not sure it had to be this particular movie. Barbra apparently chose this one to get him off her back. I agree with many that while Funny Lady doesn't even come close to the magic of it's predecessor, it is pure Streisand during this era and we gotta love it.

  • It was "Funny Lady" she was forced to do. Stark threatened to sue!

  • Just because you read it in some unauthorized bio book on Streisand doesn't make it so. We've all seen the photo of the antique mirror that she gave Stark where she wrote "paid in full" when they wrapped, but she has never publicly commented on the issue and unless she does in her own autobiography some day we'll probably never know the legal details.

  • I know all this. You want to hold the throne of the know it all about Barbra have at it. I'll just continue to support her career as I have for 38 years. I adore Barbra Streisand (The most successful performer in the history of show business) and wait for her autobiography to find out what the truth is.

  • Thank you, and since I'm holding the throne; "OFF WITH YOUR HEAD".

  • I'd be careful saying things like that in today's world.

  • I loved the music, but there were very few original songs from the era. The score was very dated.

  • Im not criticizing her by any means. I don't think any female performer (except Judy Garland) brought so much beauty and magnificence to the art form in this century, and probably for all time.

  • Interesting comments. I thought I was the only one to see something dark in this movie. I never have known if it was the direction, or Barbra's characterization, or what. I do think she played it in a very non-humerous way, rarely smiling and cynical throughout---I don't know if that is the real Fanny Brice or not. I have always read that Fanny was a real kick to be around. I always sensed that in this movie Barbra's own fame was getting out of hand and it bothered her and it shows here.

  • @sisalrug

    >I always sensed that in this movie Barbra's own fame was getting out of hand and it bothered her and it shows here.

Maybe, but who else could have played this? Liza Minnelli would not have done a good job, IMHO.

  • I totally agree.

Nothing wrong with Liza Minnelli, though. *grins*

  • The real Fanny Brice was a bitch! You should read Mae West's take on her!

  • wow! really

  • The movie wasn't a relative bomb due to this stellar performance, and a great score in general; it was poorly written and one senses, badly edited. Many of us serious Barbra fans refer to this character as the "evil Fanny", because she wasn't real likeable in this one.

  • you're right, she was a narcissistic ball-buster..but back in the mid-70's, with the women's movement, that wasn't such a bad thing (evil, i don't think so).

  • Man, can she sing!!!!!

  • The best star of her time. The only person that comes close is Liza Minnelli

  • Oh honey, you have that backwards ... and Liza herself would agree. Even as good as Judy was, most agree that Barbra was a much better all around versatile performer.

  • Her voice is sooooo fabulous....susieq, yes, her legs are fabulous, but I was too busy looking at her breasts (which are also fabulous)...

  • One of my favourite songs from "Funny Lady". Barbra looked so hot, I mean, her legs are just fantastic! So gorgeous :P

  • for me it was "How Lucky Can You Get

  • BEAUTIFUL song. I own this record, and have worn it out.

  • I have the CD and love it as much as you do. Isn´t it fabulous?:)))

  • This is one of my favor songs, too!!

  • One of my favorite Streisand movies. I enjoy very much seeing the costumes she has on.

  • I think the best costume she ever wore was the one in On a Clear Day, when she sings Love With All The Trimmings. It's similar to this gown, but all white. Gorgeous!!!!

  • But it is exactly this set of costume, designed by the legendnary Bob Mackie, that compels Pauline Keal to comment hat Streisand looks like a transvestite.

  • This was the best number from that wonderful movie

  • i agree youyong, this is the film's best song...

  • Yes, I agree too!! It's very inspiring, and she sings it so well!

  • I respect you opinion and also understand it because the mood of this song is simply fabulous. I do have my favorates but love this one too. I Have the CD. Yes!

  • @youyong28 "How Lucky Can You Get" wasn't too bad; perhaps the second best from the film?

  • @youyong28 ~ Too bad the beginning of the song is missing from this upload.
