I don't think alcohol is in the same category as steroids. Steroids are performance enhancing, alcohol if anything is performance reducing. I felt the same way about Michael Phelps when he was caught smoking pot (Though I don't smoke pot, I think it should be legal) and to be absolutely honest, he probably needed pot to get the appetite to eat all the food he was sucking down every morning.

the owners let it happen, because contrary to 'internet hype', people love seeing homeruns and pitchers throwing 1 or even 2 hit games...it gets them 'excited' about coming to see the game and just another bit of 'history'..How many games were 'sold out' during Bond's rise to most home runs..and how many people in those very stands knew or assumed Bonds was taking steroids? That's what I thought! People still came out to watch!

The owners have known about it. The game was going down the tubes and then the freak show of Sosa & McGuire had that "fake" home run derby season that fooled a lot of people (not me). It was BS. Contrary to Boggs I say it is the owners fault for letting it happen.
