6th? Oh... thanks for telling me. I was going to head out on the 7th... would've missed it! I've seen the test train three times already -- is that what you caught?
Amtrak owned it and paid for the rehab and then stopped using it in the mid-1990's, but will once again run to AC when the new ACES train starts running from NYC.
Actually the train is funded by Borgata, Harrah's, Caesars and the NJ Casino Reinvestment Authority and will be operated by NJT using Amtrak and NJT power and new cars similar to the NJT bilevels. I have heard the service will start January 2009.
but how often does the NJT atlantic-city line deadhead goes to north jersey on weekends or 7 days a week?

February 6 is the first day of revenue runs. They had a press preview run today and hope to have that video up shortly.

Wow, look at that, the old Amtrak AC line. Now does Amtrak still own the line and NJT just runs on the line? Is that true?

It's operated by New Jersey Transit now. Amtrak ran specials until 1995 but everyday trains were have been by New Jersey Transit since 1989.

I love the chugging sound... But I don't like to see a train going for long distance with an engine going like this.
