Swan Song was the Zep label but the albums were released through Atlantic who originally had Zep under contract. Presumably Zeps label wouldnt have coped with the scale of distribution world wide. The album is somewhere between a 'here is some stuff lying around the studios' and a possible 'last album' due to agreements with Atlantic. Ball crushing riff on this by the way! as the years go by I prefer early Zep to the later '77 rock God version.

Why was CODA released? Everyone says it was to fulfil a contract and make the fifth album to satisfy the record company. But Zeppelin's record company, after 1973 was Swan Song, a label they themselves set up. Could they not have let themselves off the contract?

I think this concert had the best tone out of all them. Page's gear sounded best here, bonham sounded as loud as ever, jones's bass sounds raw as usual, but Plant's voice.......my oh my, it is peak here. Definetely their best concert.
