  • Video rocked I love the use of the light and mirrors. I hope to work some of that into one of my games. Thank you.

  • ya-this should be published-nice work

  • Thank you so much. I love all of your videos.

  • So someone in my party decided hire an assassin(another person in the party)to kill my 4th level paladin/cleric. They haven't done it yet but what should I do about it?

  • @Hambone482 Be careful. Seriously, both you and your character should be careful. You, that it doesn't hurt the gaming group (let them know if such a thing would ruin your gaming night). Your character, that he doesn't get his throat slit while sleeping.

  • Well, thank you for responding. I basically wanted to steal the dungeon design / mirrors. I could be somewhat creative and make one myself.

  • Any chance your adventure is up for grabs? Open source dungeon?

  • @themaster408 I do not have it in any such form, unfortunately. As well, this is not exactly a stand-alone adventure; it was at an apex of a many-level campaign story arc.

  • You should work for WotC. This seems like it would make a good module.

  • What was the event for the test of virtue? Only good and/or Lawful good alignment can pass? and what was the monster at the test of strengh?

  • @mikaleon The two angel statues judged the characters. Alignment, yes, but that's oversimplified. They elaborated upon personal virtues and weaknesses. The test of strength was an archangel and a leonal (which I designed).

  • @repsesper reminds me of the neverending story :P

  • Wow I've never seen so much preparation for a dungeon.

I've been dm'ing for about 2 years now, and I'm not even close to this. (Dm'ing 4th edition too :P ) Any inspiritation for this dungeon?

You have captured the essence of Astral sea epic adventures. gods, music angels apocalypse spells etc.. great vid again.

    Mikaleon,

who would really like to play in your game.

  • I am just getting into DnD (Trying to find friends to play with D:) But wow , i never knew that dungeons could get THIS awesome and creative. This game was made for me , because i LOVE bringing my creativity out. Great job on this dungeon , because i am not even playing yet , and i wanna do this dungeon so bad @_@.

  • @Aizuaka That is awesome to hear! This adventure spanned so much more than what was in this video. The story, NPCs (such as the god Moradin), details, clues, puzzles- all got largely left out. It required a LOT of preparation and testings, as well as props, but it was so fulfilling to run and record.

  • @repsesper Which version of DnD would you recommend to play ? Lots and lots of people say 3.5 and ADnD is the best. Since i have never played before i cant really say which would be best for me. They say that 4ed is like a videogame , which.. i wouldnt mind that because i love MMOs and RPGs alike. So , which would you recommend ?

  • @Aizuaka I recommend 4e with a healthy dose of your own storytelling and creativity. However, 3.5 is good as well. It all comes down to personal preference, really.

  • This was pretty goddamn epic!

  • Never played D&D, but have become really interested in it lately. Your videos (especially this one) have shown me the potential in the game. Very cool!

  • @MARDLtransmit Yes! There is amazing potential with D&D, that is one of the main reasons I am involved with the game.

  • Muy props, THIS IS INVENTIVE!!!

  • Most epic dungeon ever!

  • As previously mentioned this is just amazing! I only got back into gaming 2 years ago and recently started feeling the urge to DM myself. Watching this vid and others on YouTube from those like you willing to share help a budding DM learn! Thanks for sharing your amazingly creative campaign with us all!

  • The music really added to the atmosphere, I love the puzzles, the way you just dealt with the candles and prism was just , I'm flabbergasted you placed here. I really missed your vids.I have to make more time. It didn't even deed your immersive narratives. best DM ever? YES U R. 0.0 just wow.

  • @Orbitdeathrants You honor me, many thanks to you! I really do feel like this was one of my best adventures, so I couldn't go without recording it in some way.

  • Hey, I need some help as a DM. One of my players is into story-based playing, like me, and expanding on worlds and such, one of them is only interested in combat, and one of them is into just kind of screwing around (he plays a thief, what did you expect?)

Instead of playing a visually based game, I play by writing out descriptions of scenery in-depth and improvising on NPC encounters, friendly and not. This also gets to be a problem as the combat-obsessed guy doesn't care for immersion. Help?

  • @rubin3364 In fact, this isn't all too uncommon of a scenario. Over my years of DMing I have learned many important things, especially:

DM a game that you like, in the style that you like, with people that you like playing with. If you are going to spend that much time and energy (as I do), you should reap the rewards (you're not getting XP and treasure, after all).

    Oh, and also don't be a power-tripping control-freak jerk.

  • Id party with you guys any day this game looks epic .....

  • I like the Sound Track like one of those Classic Early 80's fantasy moves or scifi :-D good looking Game too :-D

  • To repsesper: I like D&D, but not many of my friends do. I'm a good DM and I know how to make a good character, but I usually end up saving any files for that on my laptop. However, you are clearly an excellent DM with a vivid imagination. One thing I would like to suggest as a fan is during some spare time once a week take 3 to 5 people from your subscriptions, and connecting via skype or something else hold a D&D session for those who like the game but can't play it for some reason.

  • @randomstuffstudios I have had many requests of that nature, and though it honors me that so many would like me to DM for them, at this time my schedule is so full. I can't even post vids as often as I'd like. However, this idea is something that I will definitely keep in mind, and hopefully someday I can give it a shot.

  • I really like how you used the lighting and candles and especially the tile puzzle part. Very cool!

  • Most awesome! Thank you for sharing this. A fitting title for a brilliant soul.

  • Hey Esper, Just wondering , Are those Hasbro Minis? They look painted really well, All the Hasbro minis I bought are painted extremely poor and really machine/mass production like, I mostly buy the Reaper minis and paint myself and what ever other type minis i can find in general from any source, Toys, collectables and handmade.

    Meta Morphwell

  • @northerngamers Thank you! I just use iMovie. It works for what I do.

  • Hi again

  • Comment?

  • Cool

  • You are very cool and have what it takes to have a huge fan base!!

Also do you listen to critical hit from major spoilers???!?????

    Thnks

  • @bubblerapster I have not heard of them before, I'll have to check it out.

  • Yes Yes!! we are on the same page man, its uncanny, i was just about to send you some original music to see if you like to use in your story's and games, this is great! Oh yea i bought a bunch of electronic candles, they work really well with a built in flicker effect and they don't burn your players wrists when moving the minis hehe....Love it Esper, wish i could come play a game with ya!

    Meta Rockwell

  • @MetaRockwell Heh, yah there were a couple of slight singes, no actual wounds luckily. I'm glad you liked it, I sure did. Let me know if you post your music.

  • Love ur vids but couldn't read the subtitles on my iPhone. I will check it out later. Keep up the good work.

  • This is awesome!! I've been taking pictures, too, of my campaign but they're modules produced by WotC. But still, some of the pictures are a bit cool but nothing compared to these :D

  • Absolutely epic, once again my friend. So very jealous of your gaming group. Epic!

    ~Chino

  • simply amazing ! Your a great DM and it shows you put a lot of time in your campaigns.

    Your the best DM ever,

    Flow

  • @SMFloris I am honored, thank you

  • this looks great it was cool how you used the mirrors great job

  • All i have to say is, Nerdgasm

  • Wow.... ... Wow...

  • I took a long time to think of why your such a good DM and came to only one conclusion. Your a robot.....

  • I would love to play one of your campaigns! :O

  • very interesting stuff love the mirrors...

  • that was amazing!!!

  • The mirrors reminded me of the Earth Temple in the Legend of Zelda: the Wind Waker. Ahh, good times! XD

  • What i wouldn't give to play in one of your campaigns! Your players better appreciate the time you put into this. Was very creative and interesting.

  • Really nice! When the prism appeared, I was like "Oh shoot, bet that opens the seal!" Your such a great DM.

  • @eric960430 Thank you. Unfortunately, this video leaves out so many of the details throughout the adventure, but I am still very glad that I put it together.

  • i love the idea of the light beam and turning off the lights

  • Amazing.

  • is this music Steve Roach? I love him he's an artistic genius. If you guys like him also look up Atticus Ross.

  • @thomasfisher24 I love Steve Roach, but this music is actually my own.

  • @thomasfisher24 the music is done by Esper. Esper is an artistic genius in my book:)

  • is there anyway we can download this music? it was amazing

  • @CreepSpark Thank you, and at the moment the music side of what I offer is still a work in progress. I really hope to have an entire album of atmospheric gaming music finished at some point.

  • All those mirrors, I couldn't help but think of Neverwinter Night's 2, the Mask of the Betrayer... If only I was able to set up campaigns like this, I might be able to get more of my friends into the game. It seems whenever I've tried to DM in the past, my friends always do incredibly stupid things and end up getting killed...

  • @Cyrathil Sadly, I never played that game. I know, it's blasphemy, but at the time it came out, I didn't have a computer that could handle modern games.

Just keep trying...don't let your dreams die. Ever.

  • @repsesper "Just keep trying...don't let your dreams die. Ever."

I don't, I'm actually setting out building my own campaign setting to work in, hoping it'll be easier to work in a world that's completely in my head. But still, now whenever I talk about DM'ing, the most common reply is a reminder of the first game I DM'ed where the first level Paladin tried charging a group of three evil soldiers, and got impaled with a longsword the next round.

  • It would be awesome if you did recorded sessions like blue table painting does

    Awesome maps!!!!!

  • are all of your D&D sessions like this???

  • @Dilonovich Technically this spanned 3 sessions, and these pictures do not (and cannot) contain the beginning scene where the PCs are meeting/speaking with Moradin.

I try to put detail, quality, and variety into my campaigns. I feel that this was one of my best adventures ever, so I can't say all of my sessions are par with it. I'd say most are about 75%-90% as good as this.

  • Poor Aerona. Not even an introduction.:( Great vid though hun, and especially <3 the music!

  • @Dubheitte My first cut of the vid said "Aerona: winterclaw panther". I must have accidentally left it out on the final cut...my apologies (I will note her in the video description). The whole process was more disjointed than I would have liked it to have been.

  • @repsesper No worries hun. You had enough to deal with running the dungeon. I know taking pictures and video added a lot to that. It is too bad Dubheitte couldn't be in it. But maybe the next video of our group :) Or maybe I will make my own telling the story of Ashra.

  • @Dubheitte That would be awesome if you did that! I want to see it!

  • @repsesper I would probably need your help on it hun. Likely use of your video equipment as well. There is a lot of material to get together, and to create. I do think doing it would be quite fun though.

  • That was a very creative/ epic adventure

  • I have to wonder how long it took you to think this all out and build it up. It looked very well refined. Good show.

  • Wow, very intense campaign what with all the candles, lights, extreme maps, etc... all in all very cool!

  • The maps for the crystal place were awesome! loved the music as well!
