Why couldn't you just focus on the stand or perhaps a stick in the ground? Sure saves you having to make and carrying this contraption around with you. I understand precise focus is important but you will probably move more than the stick person as well. Am I missing something here?

@MrVomitify I typically keep this stand with my tripod, it's useful for other things besides focus, (mic stand, lights) A stick in the ground would work just as good! I was just sharing a piece of gear that I use. Thanks for watchin!

@thelilboii Fake it in your NLE, there are loads of tuts on YouTube.

The MediaChance website used to have instructions for building a simple DOF device that will probably work with just about any camera. Maybe you can find it archived somewhere.
