  • That bit of hair was distracting me throughout the entire video....

  • thats only 7 out of 6 billion captured on cam, who knows? O_o

  • Isn't the second, like, a myth?

  • Where was the Princess Bride reference? I have watched this at least 4 times, and I have never caught it.

  • @mariahrose210 Getting involved in a land war in Asia-- it's one of the classic blunders!!!!

  • @vidkid42 Oh my god, I'm such a failure. Thank you for pointing that out though!

  • @vidkid42 Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line! (Just to prove that I'm not a total failure and have seen the Princess Bride.)

  • @mariahrose210 Hahahaha--

  • Yes!! The Princess Bride quote!!!

  • Alexander Graham Bell is one of my ancestors.... Along with Winston Churchill... how crazy cool is that?!

  • #1 fail in teh history of mankind! = Capitalism

  • Princess bride reference. Nice.

  • I lobe this guy

  • @relvjuciyfruit me too, me too

  • no.1: religion

  • The hair hanging off... HE'S TURNING INTO A HANKLERFISH.

  • Comment removed

  • haha sucks to be deca

  • Your video was incredibly interesting, but I couldn't stop staring at that piece of hair flopping around... Sorry.

  • JustinBieber

  • Hank, the siege of Troy never actually happened. It's a myth...but still a big failure of the troyans, I must admit...

  • @mokimik Not necessarily - at the site of where 'Troy' is supposed to have been, there were remains and evidence of people who had died in the streets. Seems it probably could have happened. Even in the myth the horse wasn't a gift though.. It was 'an offering to a god to help them sail back to Greece to get supplies'. The Trojans took it in their walls to transfer the favour of the god to them.

  • I am afraid to fail because i have failed in peoples expectations of me which includes people who might of had respect for me like teachers or student peers. I think its a heavy burden to fail and feel that the grade you recieved defines the person you are. F= stupid. My academic life has been B grade but its only when i get to university that i have truly felt the almost crippling feeling of failure. At this moment i have 48 hours to submit a 4000 word essay, failure anxiety has taken hold.

  • I'm afraid of losing things. And bees. But on a deeper scale, I'm afraid that I'm the only one who can remember certain things as if I as a person am fluctuating along a dimension different than anyone else or at least at a different frequency. Hard to explain, but it scares the shit out of me.

  • @JUMPER1818k You feel that life/world is centred around you, people are not on your same wave lenght of personality, is what i am getting from your description. Or that the world is moving around you but your not moving with it?

  • @YellingYaz Sort of, but not quite. Not really that everything is centered around me. I'm afraid that I'll be the only one to remember something because people forget so easily is the very, very basic version of the fear.

  • I think what some of us, including myself are most afraid of, is not failing epicly at some grand undertaking. I think sometimes we are most afraid by failing at small mundane things, like finding a job or going back to school or something, because one begins to think, oh, I can't even do that. Well then how will I ever do that other thing? It's a lot easier to blame failure for not trying then for actually failing, especially when it is something so doable theoretically.

  • You would be great like a teacher ^^ 4real

  • Princess Bride reference anyone?

  • I like this video because I've always used this thinking to calm me down when I've botched up a homework assignment.

  • Well think of it this way Hank: when you said that "Oddly enough...Always men" if Women ruled the world/made world impacting decsions, there woudln't be war.

Just a lot of jealous countries not talking to each toher.

  • no they would still be in the kitchen

  • @AsherMarieLovesYou

I disagree. A country needs a strong, PATRIOTIC (not nationalistic), charasmatic leader.

I cannot picture a woman being patriotic. You have to love your country and defend its interests and pride. Look at Empress Dowager Cixi ( one of the worst rulers of China), Cleopatra and Elizabeth I.

It's not about gender, it's all about ideas and philosophy. Why do you think most women are not interested in politics?

  • @hellknight003 wow... you forgot Queen Victoria, Joan of Arc, Raziya Sultana, Angela Merkel, Margarette Thatcher, Benazir Bhuto, Chandrika Kumarathunga, Yingluc shinawatra... they were all so unpatriotic and so weak... :(

and hats off to your sharp observation about women's interests in politics...:D

  • @AsherMarieLovesYou Guess who didn't make up that joke? You

  • @danielcarmi305 Does it really matter? Oh, and by the way, you forgot the end mark after you. :)

  • @AsherMarieLovesYou No I didn't, "you" is a fragment, not a sentence, and therefore doesn't use a period.

  • @danielcarmi305 Okay, how about we quit correcting each others grammar and move on with our lives?

  • @AsherMarieLovesYou I never corrected your grammar, I only defended my own.

  • The Princess Bride reference!!!

  • Well, I may not get the chance to kill hundreds of people, but if I fail at my job it can lead to the injury or death of a handful of people. I think it justifies my fear of failure.

  • thumbs up for hair fail.

  • you should have added the about 7 publishers that turned away J.K. Rowling.

  • @betacamo 12

  • @megaexplosions, I wouldn't say Twilight is a fail in anyway. Those books make a lot of people happy and that is in no way a "fail." Just because you and a lot of other people like to make fun of it, and make fun of the people who like it and increase worldsuck, does not mean Twilight is a bad thing. Those books got a lot of people to start reading again.

  • How about British Col. Johann Rall who was so busy playing chess (or poker depending on the source) that he didn't notice the boatload of revolutionaries crossing the Delaware in 1776.

Because he wasn't paying attention, the soldiers were caught unaware and that's why America exists.

  • And thats why I think Decca is a huge joke..

  • Does he say John?

Why does he say John? That's my name!

    Can someone tell me?

  • @JonzeyGears Google "the vlog brothers"; read the Wikipedia page. Learn on your own.

You have an incomprehensible amount of information at your finger tips through the internet,;use it.

  • @poptarttoshi can't you just save me all that, and tell me? :/

    Please?

  • troy never existed bro

  • @mikee555 It did, although the war's improbable. Still.

  • @mikee555 lol...

  • One More Day. That is all.

  • I'm afraid of Rick Santorum.

  • I can't stop staring at that one group of bobbing hair.

  • Biggest fail: The doctor who talked Hitler's mother out of getting an abortion...

  • @Kitsune1414 At least there was a few positives that Hitler caused like before WW2 all of eastern Europe except Czechoslovakia had a dictator. also antisemitism would of still been there even if Hitler wasn't. hey, maybe someone smart could of taken his place and won WW2.

  • @thorgod8

The very few 'positives' do not outweigh the over six million (some sources say eleven million) people who died due to him.

  • @Kitsune1414 As I said if Hitler wasn't around someone more competent could of taken command and won the war. Then we would all be Nazis.

  • Giving birth to justin bieber..

  • :) princess bride!

  • I find myself inspired by you and your brother. Often times when I'm feeling down, or suffering a bout of writer's block, I randomly watch one of your videos and BAM! I'm feeling pretty good about myself. :)

  • Who is Jon?

  • @ShadowGricken ...I sincerely hope you're joking.

  • 374,374!

  • My school plays Beatles music in between classes.... :) and then of course one kid wanted them to play Justin Beaver

  • @LeTrollBear i wish my school was that awesome, all i can hear between classes is the rabble of the other 2999 students in my school...

  • @LeTrollBear Haha, Beaver. *gigglesnort*

  • @LeTrollBear You guys get The Beatles?! My school only plays annoying songs from the 1970's and 80's :( Not even good music from then!

Once we got Bohemian Rhapsody... That was a good day :)

  • @phantomfangurl Consider yourself lucky, my school doesn't play any music at all...

  • @LeTrollBear I wish I went to your school.

  • This made me feel like a really successful person :3

  • @azerskater even if that is true, it was still a fail by the States and not the Japanese. The bombs should not have been dropped.

  • The land war in Asia thing was actually a reference to Vietnam and Korea. Although Russia in the winter was a pretty stupid idea, too.

  • @SesshReincarnated It was also a reference to the Princess Bride. Just saying.

  • @Remember1973 I meant the original line was referring to Vietnam and Korea.

  • Fail: at school a guy randomly shouted "MY WATER BROKE, MY WATER BROKE!!!!!" he was in the middle of a lab experiment that he was virtually doing online.

Fail: one of the last things my dad told me was "when I was a kid I thought everyone would be a hippie when I grew up"

  • can't take my eyes of the failure haircan't take my eyes of the failure haircan't take my eyes of the failure haircan't take my eyes of the failure haircan't take my eyes of the failure haircan't take my eyes of the failure haircan't take my eyes of the failure haircan't take my eyes of the failure haircan't take my eyes of the failure haircan't take my eyes of the failure haircan't take my eyes of the failure haircan't take my eyes of the failure haircan't take my eyes of the failure hair

  • question what do the 2 of you do on mondays?

  • Other big fail: all the publishers that turned down Harry Potter when JK Rowling came to them.

  • @Mustlovebooks15 And all the television networks that turned down the Muppets.

  • @Mustlovebooks15 bigger than that, the publishers that accepted twilight when stephanie mayer came to them

  • @Mustlovebooks15 Call me weird, but things happen for a reason. Perhaps if she went to another publisher the books wouldn't have been has spread out.

  • I think people are afraid of failure because of our "survival of the fittest" mentality that's been hardwired into biology in general since the beginning of time.

Also, I'm afraid of most clowns, getting shots, and Michael Jackson when he was white.

  • I really hope he was trying to make a princess bride reference

  • I really don't think Japan is the one that had the epic fail. The states should not have sent the bombs over. It is actually thought that the Japanese were trying to surrender. We can't really tell if the states got the message or not...

  • @KyleBlaseg The Japanese did not offer to surrender before both bombs were dropped.

  • This video helped my SAT score. Not kidding. Thank you. <3

  • 2 trohgen horse

  • Love the Beatles fail! I've always thought that Decca is probably headdesking for the rest of eternity because of that mistake.

  • But see, that's the problem. We all have the need to make a difference, and, failure or not, if you don't get to the point where your failures matter, you're still a failure.

  • so every one has fails

  • 199 people are not made up of awesome

  • I was watching the lip balm in the bookcase in the background the whole time. No offence.

  • Comment removed

  • @chibiXrikkaXchan I don't mean to sound disrespectful, but people don't care if you are passionate about the bible, because just because you do doesn't mean that people can't talk about it in a negative context.

  • @AgentPsychopath Okay, I guess it's the free speech thing right? Mmmmm, okay sorry then! ><

  • number 3!!! is epic beyond words

  • Forgot the Soviet Afghan war as it's partly responsible for bankrupting the USSR.

  • @TheSmaych

Show you? What do you think? That I have a piece of it in my back pocket?! You want to see it do your own freaking research.

  • @thesoftballswimmer

So Noah got two of EVERY, and I mean EVERY species of animal on earth, then herded them on to a boat, then with his wife managed and lepta them safe for half a month? How big is his bloody boat. If they found parts of it could you show me? Because the thing must be massive.

  • @Stuklnaaroc

Maybe you haven't heard of any because you hadn't looked. Parts of Noah's ark have been found, the plagues of Egypt have been proved... Want me to keep going? So yea, I know enough.

  • @KittenKoder

I did look it up before writing that comment. There's lots of evidence... look it up yourself if you don't believe me.

  • @Stuklnaaroc unlike the Trojan War, there is scientific evidence that "stories" in the bible actually happened. Don't go around dissing things you know nothing about.

  • @thesoftballswimmer Um, no there isn't, and I won't detail this for you beause you should have looked it up before typing that comment.

  • @thesoftballswimmer Which stories happened? Important ones like 'The Garden of Eden' or 'Noah's Ark' or Abraham living to like ~200yrs of age, or Moses parting the Red Sea or sitting atop a Mountain having a flaming bush talk to him saying its the voice of god? Any of those have scientific evidence. Not that ive heard. There was a place called Jericho, but its walls weren't felled because someone asked them to, or shouted FUS RO DAH at them or something. I know enough, do you?

  • Princess Bride quote FTW!!!

"Never go in against a Sicilian when DEATH is on the line!!! Ahaha! Ahahaha! Ahaha- *dead*" <3

  • @vlogbrothers

Sorry to burst fail #2 But the Trojan War has no historical basis or evidence, and no evidence of the horse either, so not really History, but still a fail. Just a story from a book (The Illiad), being dramatic and entertaining. Much like the Bible

  • @StukInaaroc actually, there is some historical basis for the trojan war. the city of troy was real, and it was destroyed (or mostly anyways) in a battle (or more likely a series of battles). it probably didn't happen the way it did in the illiad and there isn't any evidence of the trojan horse being used, but i think it's a little rash to say that the trojan war has no historical basis or evidence.

  • @missyemmy93 Yes you are right. Troy has been found, 7 or 8 on top of each other. I just meant that the story as it happened according to Homer has no historical record. Labeling it the Trojan war, i believe you cant say, but you can say one of the 8 cities of Troy was possibly destroyed in a war. Another was destroyed by an earthquake i think. But thankyou for making me clarify

  • dude shut the fuck up no one cares about what u have to say just show the clips and the pics for fuck sake

  • similar to the telephone story, and inventor went to the Swiss watchmakers with his new digital watch. They said "noone will want that watch, it has no hands." and now the Japanese make 90% of all watches

  • The most epic fail in history made by lots and lots of people:

"Sorry, I don't think we can publish "Harry Potter".

The best thing that ever happened:

Bloomsbury: "Why don't we give the manuscript for this Harry Potter book to my daughter to see if she likes it. If she does, we'll publish it!"

  • To be completely honest, failure scares me because it often shows I'm the failure identical twin sister. It really hits home to me that someone made from the same DNA can achieve and i can't and this especially hurt me when i was little when i needed learning support classes and my sister didn't.

I probably take failure worse than anyone and get a bit hysterical, But it does push me to work hard and succeed. :)

  • @CharlieBrawl I think this is common.... In highschool i can personally remember two pairs of identical twins, and ironically one of each were in learning support classes.. And to add to the irony a bit, one of the other twins was in the exact opposite of learning support (? - it's called something different in each school).. Also, i saw something on tv years ago about "mirror twins", I think it talked about a similar phenomena..

  • (i mean well after the u.s. had entered it.)

  • i don't think the atom bomb was around at that point. einstein was urging the president to okay the development of it after the war had begun.

  • Haha stupid japs

  • Jesus I want to fix the hair thats sticking up on the back of his head so baddddddddddddddddddd

  • you know what's awesome ?? the first phone call that graham bell ever made was to Paris Ontario, from Brantford, Ontario, oh yeah, who's living in a piece of history, this guy :D

  • You adjust your glasses way too often... Get yourself some croakies!!

  • Why seven fails..? Eight would have been better; I like the symmetry. ;-j

  • IT'S ONE OF THE CLASSIC BLUNDERS!

Also, Hank, your hair! I couldn't stop staring at that one sticky-outy bit! hee hee

  • When he said "When trying to invade Europe just leave Asia alone, just let Moscow be" is he referring to Napoleon or Hitler?

  • @nemesis962074 hitler. if he kept his alliance with MOTHER RUSSIA! he maybe would have had a chance at winning the war.

  • I think the greatest failure was when Hitler was denied acceptance into art school.

  • @tasuki199 I'm gonna have to go with when Hitler's mum decided not to have him aborted, but let the doctor talk her into keeping him instead.

  • Always men because WOMEN ARE AWESOME!

  • @TheAnimeartist2244 Back to the kitchen, please.

  • @johndogg11 Oh wow.

  • @johndogg11 wow you're mature and also very thoughtful!!!

    also, sarcasm is original!!

  • @TheAnimeartist2244 No, because men are the only ones who try

  • @G0ldkloud Sure... sure... because while men were trying to kill each other woman were trying to do everything else.... yep.

  • @TheAnimeartist2244 I once read a comment saying women have nothing to contribute to society......ON A WARHAMMER VIDEO!!! OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

  • @leehocking514 What ever warhammer is, I don't care.

  • @TheAnimeartist2244 Warhammer 40k. You are no longer considered smart by anyone, ever.

  • @XatechChaos I don't really care if no one on youtube will think I'm smart. Considering I have no idea who is behind the mask of that account.

  • @TheAnimeartist2244 You shouldn't. He was a total dick

  • @leehocking514 Okay...

  • @TheAnimeartist2244 Sexist bitch ¬_¬

  • @mrROFLstudios Yeah whatever... like I care what you think of me.

  • WIDE ANGLE LENS.

  • Hitler's mother (yes, THE Hitler) was seriously considering getting an abortion, but her doctor talked her out of it. Will this affect the evil baby orphanage in any way?

  • 2:08

    "Oddly enough, always men"

    Best part of the video.

  • PRINCESS BRIDE QUOTE

  • Trojan Horse was totally part of history... >.>

  • I have finally found what type of nerd I am. History.

I'm not even ashamed that as soon as I heard the words "1962" and "four-man band" I knew he was talking about the Beatles.

  • It's not so much failure we fear, as the consequences of failure.

  • ahaha! Princess Bride reference.

  • According to QI, Alexander graham bell did not (at least) have the idea for the telephone, he stole the plans from a Scott. I believe mr QI-man. Just saying.

  • Is it bad or good that I knew he was talking about the Beatles before he said.

  • #8 = SOPA

  • @Wrash16 Hopefully this won't happen.

  • @Wrash16 also, # 9 = ACTA

  • @Wrash16 id say that Sopa and Acta are #1 on this list

  • @Wrash16 actually isnt it ACTA now?

  • You look like a young Dr. Kleiner

  • A wonderful prospect it is to believe that we are so afraid of failure but it is not the failing itstself but the after math of it that bears its crushing weight upon our shoulders. DFTBA

  • I'm afraid that all the assumptions I use to make the world make sense are completely inaccurate.

  • We're not afraid to fail. We're afraid of everyone knowing that we failed.

  • U again !?

  • i knew the Beatle story would pop up in this vid somewhere ;)

  • 2:02 i may have to correct you there. huge fails are the product of at least two people. one person to say " hey, i have come up with this plan to do x " and the other to say "dude, that is a really good idea!"

  • Am I the only one completely distracted by the stray bit of hair on top of Hank's head? It's so bouncy...

  • AHA! Princess Bride!

  • @Carbide195 No. I forbid that. If you say that, you shall be executed since by perfect word is the law because I'm just that perfect.

  • @DrAN0NYM0 Fear turns some people hostile. Not everyone runs away screaming or faints. Some people become violent or verbally abusive to hi
