  • praise the Lord!!!!

  • Absolutely Glorious, thank you!!

  • nice one, cool...

  • at any minute im waiting for P diddy to come in and do a remix

  • Every high-school choir in America does this song at Christmas. They had 650 "official" singers and I bet they had 500 more singing along just because they knew the song. I know I would have, if I'd been there.

  • I agree with kasteman1 . . . I'd be belting it out as well! Wonderful, Wonderful!!!

  • What a wonderful idea!

The singing is good too, no mean feat in such a large space with the singers so spread out.

I wish someone would do this in London UK shop at Christmas.I am 64 and have sung since I was 10,I WOULD join in.

    PS:~

I wonder how many people still stand when listening to the chorus in concert. We still do in the UK.

  • @MrSwifts31 We always stand at the chorus in the US too. I was one of the singers at this event. It was a blast!

  • Hallelujah to the King of Kings. He shall reign for ever and ever!

  • i'm looking for good opera choruses for a possible Star Trek opening. Can't find one that has a militaristic tone to it. Something quite apocalyptic. Anyone can give me a suggestion?

  • In a word: Spectacular.

  • majestueux et ça m'inspire pour un concert

  • This is so inspirational. I SO wish someone would organize a random act of culture in Greece, the seat of culture, science, democracy and free thought. We are drowning and dying and going under. Some help with morale, some help with such inspirational random acts of kindness would be helpful beyond your imagination. Politics aside, the ordinary people of any country rarely ever understand what has gone on until it is already a done deal.

  • ooooohhhh i wish i was there

  • Simply WONDERFUL! Come to Atlanta!!!!

  • This video is popular on Tanzania

  • Wow, listen carefully at 2:46!

  • Its amazing, I go there every year for the past 20 years

  • I'm an atheist but I gotta say this was sooo dope

  • Spectacular! That was beautiful! Thank you to everyone that made this happen. My mom was trying to remember the words to this song, and this was the rendition that came up! Fantastic!

  • Terrible.

  • Greatest flash mob event I have ever seen. Goose bumps every time. Thank you Philly Opera Society.

  • The sound of the organ is stunning. This is the America that I hope emerges from its present

    deep stupor.

  • I remember last year when the "flash mob" thing was taking off and there were a lot of dumb flash mobs. This was such a contrast and VERY WELL DONE! Peter Richard Conte is a very gifted organist. I love "Messiah" because every movement of the work is straight scripture. Wish I could have been there for this. Once again, WELL DONE!

  • Can you imagine the rush into and out of the parking garage in preparatation for this?? Grin.

  • Hallelujah! Praise God in the highest! He truly lives and reigns forever and is awesome in glory and power. He lives!

  • Lord of Lords indeed

  • FANTASTIC!!!!!

  • @19491949two Yes indeed.

  • I never get tired of hearing this. What an amazing sound - all those voices accompanied by the organ. Absolutely stunning! Merry Christmas! :)

  • This is fantastic !

  • I wish yall do one in Houston, AND LET ME KNOW IN ADVANCE ;)

  • My grandmother used to play that organ in the 30s and 40s!

  • @itsbycynthia that's cool! :)

  • I'm pretty mushy. This got me going. WHat a memory for those who were there.

  • Amen.

  • When I die, I imagine that is what I will hear..... brings tears to my eyes everytime I hear this....... love is still there, love one another with out reservation as Christ would do.... God bless to everyone this Christ-Mass!!

    <3

  • People, please keep the politics out of this.

  • John Wannamaker would have been proud to have this in his store -- as long as it helped sales.

  • This is Worship, all praise be to Jesus.

  • a RANDOM ACT OF WORSHIP!

  • Would LOVE to see this happen right after Obama loses in Nov. 2012.

  • @computerpurple What in heaven's name does a presidential election have to do with this beautiful and inspiring video. Your sorry ass needs to go and find Jesus

  • @CammieGee Ok , ok i agree that this is a beautiful message of a video about JESUS. I love humor (ok my taste in humor is not to your liking) and so what i posted at the time was (still is) funny to me.

  • @computerpurple me too :)

  • @fjbill I hear ya.

  • I enjoyed this all season last year, and I am enjoying it once again. Thank you!

  • This video went viral on Brunei

  • @ughkane614h hello my friend, would you like to elaborate what do you mean specifically that it went viral in brunei? im curious :)

  • its very beautiful

  • there is actually some good left in the human race - wish I had been there

  • AWESOME!!!!! Just a little taste of what it will be like to praise Jesus for all eternity!

  • I just don't see how there could be 153 dislikes! This is awesome! Hallelujah!

  • @romans83839yes Because Satan does not want the name of Jesus praised anywhere at anytime! Satan doesn't know he has lost the battle, but he keeps trying!

  • I hope this happens more than once a year, and every year! This is wonderful

  • I am sure there were secular left wing prophets in the UK in the late 1970s who said 'Our Supermarkets will become our new cathedrals....' , I am not sure they had this in mind, though... probably more something with the percussion provided by the ringing of cash tills...

  • the acoustics in that place are amazing....

  • I watch this video when I am feeling down and it brings tears to my eyes and gives me hope again. Seen it so many times.

  • Splendid idea

  • Bravissimi!!!!!!

  • Praise the 650 choristers for this gift of "Random Acts of Culture" .

  • AWESOME!!! Thank you so much for sharing this with the world!!!

  • Love it,the Best I've ever heard ! And so well appreciated ! The reason for the season, after all . HALLELUJAH !!! AMEN. Aloha from Kona, Hawaii

  • "For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. " Philippians 2:9-11

  • I don't sing, but if I was there, I'd belt it out like my life depended on it.

  • the sound is absolutely stunning. very moving.

  • Upon hearing the opening to this I stood and sang- in my own kitchen! I'd LOVE to be in a place where this would happen. I'd sing my ass off!!

  • I would be so scared. Looking for a pair of sox, then they this happens!?

  • This is one of my all time favorite YouTube videos!

  • Still get goosebumps listening to this! Jesus is amazing!

  • Amen!!!...

  • I wonder if they are singing Hallelujah! in the sweatshops where

macy's products come from? Wouldn't that be a magical miracle?!

The spirit of christmas truly is alive!! [tear drop rolls down cheek].

  • @b3r4d Macy's doesn't really matter. The hall and organ were there long before Macy's was and it was an awesome venue to pull this off. Macy's just happens to be there at the time of this video recording.

  • From macy's shopping to mass shopping

  • A beautiful proclamation of the Gospel!

  • They received a grant from The Knight Foundation to do this... hope it spawns dozens more.

  • I would love to know how they coordinated this. It's fabulous!

  • I thank the Lord for these people boldly praising our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I thank the Lord that our freedom of speech and religion has not YET been taken away. There are powers of darkness within our government that seriously want to shut any mention of God or His name. I say, HALLELUJAH to our Lord, and thank you Random Acts of Culture. May God continue to bless you all!

  • Bravo OCP!

  • Really? 150 malcontents clicked dislike? Please leave the internet now.

  • I love flash mobs!

  • The girl with devil horns is running for her life

  • Seriously one of the coolest things I have been able to do! Singing on the floor with the Philadelphia Opera Company made my year in 2010!

  • 151 people have no soul.

  • Where ever there are human beings the spirit shines..even in the most unexpected places. Thank you for this Divine Intervention through the power of beautiful music.

A wonderful random act of healing and Love.

  • I'm not religious, but this music moves me

  • @nancydrew5 This is Culture at its finest.

  • @nancydrew5 indeed!!!!

  • Thank-You very much for doing this FLASHMOB with the Wanamaker Organ. The beauty of it all is hard to put words to it but THANK YOU!

  • What a wonderful posting. The music; simply the greatest, the singers; inspiring, the audience awed and appreciative. Whatelse could you possibly ask for? Thanks for putting this on youtube.

  • oh this is wonderful..it brought me to tears

  • ps if you need me to back that up with scripture just read the sermon on the mount

  • amazing!

  • Everyone who like this Song will Join Jesus in Heaven And

I think 151 People are Antichrist's who want to Join Lucifer in Hell..

    lol XD

  • @Dremonite10 I find your predictions a false basis as judgement belongs to god only so keep your basis of where people go to yourself and let this be about the wonderful performance and leave judgement to god you false prophet/prophetess

  • The most amazing thing I've heard in my entire life.. King of kings and Lord of lords.. and He shall reign forever and ever!!

  • Time to get the Christmas music out...Hope there is lots of snow on Christmas Eve .....K

  • Wonderful performace...great music....great organ and so perfect for the Season. Who could not love this vid?

I do see 151 Scrooges here. They have made Santa's naughty list for sure and earned a special visit from 'Marley'...

    I wish them luck.

  • random reminder of Gods sovereignty and omnipotence! thanks

  • I've listened to this numerous times and it' makes me tear up with Joy every time. Whoever was involved with this last year either in singing, or just being inside the store when the choristers broke out in song are VERY luck people. I really really hope they make this an annual event! Thank you.

  • That's gorgeous what an idea !!!!

  • God knows this was wonderful to hear, especially that GREAT PIPE ORGAN rigning out Handel's masterpiece. Let's do it again folks

  • It would have been amazing to have been there.

  • 3:03 hahahaha

  • 0:53 that guy !!!

  • It must've felt like heaven for all of them! WOW!!!

  • Long live Handel. But f...#@%@ religion. Nothing to do with that beautiful classical piece of music.

  • @clarification007 you did listen to the words didn't you?

  • Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. Revelation 1:7

  • men are without excuse everywhere, because The Creator of the Universe has left this witness: halleluYAH! halleluYAH! is the same in every language and from hebrew, halleluYAH! means praises to YAH VEH: King of YisraEl, Redeemers of YisraEl, Set Apart One of YisraEl, King of the Universe! halleluYAH! halleluYAH!

  • I remember singing this as a child with the Glen Ellen Children's Chorus - it's a powerful piece.

  • wonderful...the magnificent Wanamaker's pipe organ

    Frank says life is good

  • 145 atheists watched this and started crying.

  • @Lassannn Do you think atheists don't sing this? ;-)

  • me too...wish i was there.....

  • What a moment, Handel would be pleased!

  • wish i was there.....

  • that organ player must feel pretty boss

  • i remember my catholic school liturgy

  • AFter I discovered this, I crank this up to bring myself up to the correct level...Mass is good, but...cant always streak over to the church to catch it more than once a week,. This is here and now and great.

    Tom in Utica

  • What a blessing. I wish I could have seen it live.

  • I hope they do this again this year!

  • All honor and glory belongs to Jesus AMEN - im disapointed it was named by singers on boards as a random act of culture.....this is not a random act of culture but purposes to share truth in song of the awesome love of the Lord who is so mighty yet cares for all of us who are not worthy NO not one except HIs son Jesus was sinless man who died as sacrifice for us all - to all who would hear the truth.

  • All honor and glory belongs to Jesus AMEN

  • Probably the best song ever written. I love singing it.

  • There is still hope in America

  • halleluYAH! the malchutim of the olam have given way to the malchut of

YAH VEH and of His YAH SHUA! and of His YAH SHUA! and ***He shall! reign

le-olam-va-ed! halleluYAH! halleluYAH! halleluYAH! halleluYAH! halleluYAH! amein!

  • That brought tears of joy to my eyes, and I'm a non believer!

  • These folks should have shown up at NYC's 9/11/11 ceremonies.

  • One other thought, this is what it should sound like on a 'sing it yourself Messiah'. These events have been performed at large venues, such as concert halls and large cathedrals. Usually multiple choirs combined. Take a few of the choirs and scatter their members in the audience. Doing this would definitely reinforce the general assembly sing-along and the crisp tempo could be maintained and not drag

  • every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess, CHRIST IS LORD!

  • How blasphemous of them to do this the day before Halloween! ;-P

  • @davidauyang01 Not at all. Both Muslims and Christians and Jews are monotheist. we could all sing together.

  • @Tibbieman1 Amen. My main thought. The People of the Book REJOICE !

    Tom in Utica

  • If only these lyrics helped Americans to be better persons, the blessing would be fulfilled. However, the more atheist USA grows the better seem politicians are pleased at.

  • Said it before, the store is Macy's, no doubt about it, but the organ will forever be the WANAMAKER organ!!!

  • Have performed entire MESSIAH many times.

Live in Lima , OH & am looking for RON PAULERS to wear gear, random gather in public and sing TWO VERSES of STAR SPANGLED BANNER & then just casually go back to randomly walking around & mingling in public with our individual choices of Dr. Paul gear, - caps - shirts - badges etc..

FAIRS, FESTIVALS, CRUISE INS, outside sport stadiums as crowds stream towards gates, No signs, no chanting, no handouts, gear on & singing

    RON PAUL SINGERS

  • connecting people

  • I am imagining what a Muslim will think if he stood in those people... he would be too embarrassed to come across this.

  • Only one thing would have made this better - Words superimposed on the film so that you could sing along while watching it.

  • @msjazzbo great idea, but which of the four parts? Soprano, Alto, Tenor, or Bass? This piece is polyphonic at its best. Great idea, but hard to do logistically...:)

  • Its quite congruously to perform this sacral music in the curches of these days - the shopping malls.

  • @LorenzoLassek congruosly? sacral? curces?

  • another thought if atheists are so sure they are right why are they always soooo miserable and attacking people who are in no way bothering them , confident people do not constantly have to attack others.

  • in regards to the comment even atheists would enjoy this, well if we get rid of everything atheists do not enjoy it is only fair to the rest of us to also get rid of everything they do

  • can someone watch my little video and listen to it?

    thank you

  • Just a taste of what Heaven will be like, worshiping & praising our God & King!!! I can hardly wait!

  • @committeesq No, I can't believe you ARE serious.

  • even atheists would enjoy this right? RIGHT?

  • @TheLaces0ut Absolutely! I would have joined in, had I been there. The joy of experiencing harmony is something all humans share. You don't have to believe in "God" to appreciate the spiritual power of music.

  • The old Wannamakers.....Down Broad from city hall....WONDERFUL!

  • Handel himself is recorded as saying that he knew not where the "Hallelujah Chorus" came from -- "but God knows."

  • @fporretto I always said it's God's anthem and I believe and when we get there.. I can't wait to hear the Angels sing..

  • Forse sapete cosa significa "ALLELUIA"? niente meno che "lodate Geova" il Sovrano universale

  • This is not a random act of culture but a foreshadowing of when the great Ruler and King of this universe will return and every knee will bow whether they have accepted Christ as Lord and King or not. It will happen. <3
