  • The second most amazing thing about this video is the lack of hare-brained comments. Quite a nice change.

  • I love Pevar <3.

  • Jeff is one of the most soulful and gifted musicians I have ever heard play live. I have heard Horowitz, Serkin, Oscar Peterson, Alicia deLarrocha, Tony Bennett, Iggy Pop, Joni Mitchell, Pat Metheny, Shawn Colvin live, those are some of my favorite live performers. JP is a guitarist and when this song needed some vocals he sang. Not to show off that he's some great singer, but to serve the song at that moment. JP has made me scream and cry with his playing over the years. Love this clip.

  • What a clever and unique version of this classic. I don't know that anyone will ever play it as genuinely as Jimi did, but Jeff definitely feels what he's playing and there's no denying that.

  • Agreed..... SRV was a great guitarist and somewhat of a legend, especially now that he's gone; but anyone who knows both of these guitarists well, knows that SRV didn't hold a candle to Pevar.

  • Little Wing on a Hollow Body....mmmmm

  • Sorry, SRV rules but nice try...

  • Jeff play Little wing better than Hendrix and Clapton, but almost as good as Stevie Ray. Still gives me goose bumps every time I see him play it.

  • One of my favorite tunes...masterfully rendered. I'm in awe!

  • caught him at a local studio i record at, the owner knows jeff and got him to play so he put on a show with probably 35 people in this little room. He played little wing with this guitar backed only by a beatbox loop from cornflower running on a mac. damn. amazing.

  • Seen Jeff many times and love this clip, and I never thought I would say it, but last night an Tape Works he played it better!

  • Einfach unglaublich !

  • thats how you cover a song. srv should take notes

  • Astounding guitar playing. When someone can play even half as well as this, though, I will never understand why they feel compelled to do other things they don't do well, like sing. Reminds me of Robben Ford in that sense. Robben's vocals are pedestrian at BEST, yet his guitar playing is almost unmatched. Still he sings. IMO, making this version all instrumental would have been MUCH better if no singer was available. No offense, Jeff. Your guitar playing talent is inspiring and amazing.

  • @billyzoom1 Huh? Nothing wrong with those vocals... he sounds like Jeff, Jimi sounds like Jimi - he's singing is hitting the notes close enough for rock & roll and the songs flows very musically and is inspired... all is as it should be.

at least until a "critic" comes along.

If SRV would have been surrounded with folks like you he'd never get beyond backing up Bowie.

  • @lastdaysguitar Let me apologize for not criticizing in a way that you find appropriate. Was the part that bothered you where I said he was "astounding", "inspiring", or "amazing'? Or where I said "no offense intended'? Pretty fair assessment to me, and mostly positive. Why do you feel compelled to jump to the defense of someone who isn't being attacked? You seem to be a pretty willing critic yourself, despite your apparent limitations in reasoning.

  • @billyzoom1 Jeff sings well. If you don't like it that's your problem, and no one really cares about your negative remarks.

A critical spirit like yours is ultimately negative - no matter how many platitudes you try to hide it under. Your kind kills the true art of music with back-handed compliments and a VERY limited appreciation of musical gifts.

  • @lastdaysguitar "my kind"? "my critical spirit"? Sounds like someone needs a little more self-awareness. Convenient that my expressing my opinion is so horrible, yet yours is so justified, especially when yours was much more attacking and self-righteous. And clearly you DO care. Thanks for the life advice and for making me aware of my limitations. Very encouraging. A great lesson for me. You rock!

  • @billyzoom1 Yes, I do rock - and if you really learned that no one else wants to hear you "nicely" trash Jeff's vocal abilities when all he's trying to do is bring some good music into this world then it's a good thing.

  • @lastdaysguitar By the way, if you think these vocals qualify someone as "singing well", you know nothing about music. I won't justify my opinion further to avoid giving you the ammo you seem to crave, but you lose credibility there. Amazing guitarist. Not a great singer. Easy. Do you have a man-crush, or do you live in a world where everyone is great? It's called an opinion . Thanks for policing how the rest of us should communicate. That is all.

  • @billyzoom1

You put your crass opinion out there - and it stinks.

  • Pretty damned cool...I would have loved to have seen Jazz is Dead with him or Herring in the lineup...great players, just different styles

  • a true ambassador of the guitar.....and a kcik ass one at that....just saw him 2 nites ago...and let me tell ya...goodbye pork pie hat was truly epic...!!!!...might even have made jeff beck take a pill...amazing improvisational playing....I cant gronk...

  • I meet Jeff a few nights ago at a local show. I can honestly say he was one of the best guitarist ive ever seen. Also he is one of the nicest i ve meet as well. He spent a good thirty minutes talking with about various guitar related topics. Rock On Jeff!

  • a man of taste, tone and talent. Thank you Jeff for what you give us.

  • Respect. You play the guitar.. like seriously, You make it sing.

  • Agree with Mightybright1. Peev plays with conviction, passion and skill. Those who knock his chops are petty & facile (and those are the compliments!) Pevar reinvents his playing at each gig. It's never the same, but it's always exciting to see and hear. And when Jizzmonkey can play even 1/1000th as well, I challenge this primate to post something worthy on YouTube for us all to review (OK, bash, slam, trash and otherwise return it to the dung heap from whence it came). Rock on Peev!!!

  • Jimi would be proud

  • And you might want to learn how to spell his name if you're going to be calling people dumb shit.

  • He took Jimmy Herring's place in Jazz Is Dead. I'm pretty sure I'm aware that Jimi Hendrix wrote this song. Thanks for the concern.

  • dude, who ISN"T jimi divided by infinity?

  • I feel bad for this guy after taking Jimmy Herring's place. That's a tough act to follow.

  • Few players have the conviction and heart that Pevar exhibits. It is rare to find a true artisan who 'means' every single note. Pevar does! David Crosby was right: "The way that Jeff plays guitar is a combination of dexterity and taste and inventiveness and passion." A hearty "Amen!"

  • at least j.p. is not a great singer. I couldn't take it if he sang as well as he plays it would not be fair!

I used to see him at Preacher's in n.y.c.

those were nights to remember fer sure, quite a while ago, post R.L.J. for those who

know @ j. p.and dig his tremendous, passionate and deep playing.

  • I used to live down the street from the Hungry Tiger (one of the three or four places Jeff plays when he comes home). Watching this video really makes me sad that I moved to Ohio and don't have any easy way to see him live....

  • very nice cant wait to see him in ct again
