so they say 250k for single , 500k for humbucker. But If I tap the humbucker then I have a sigle coil with 500k pot............is there such a thing as a dual or variable pot?
amazing video thanx a lot, I understood a lot of things. But I have a question. If I have a pus/pull potentiometer of 500 kΩ and I want to split a humbugger pick up to two single coil, how can I find the balance with the potentiometer? Because if I understood with the humbugger I need 500kΩ and for the single coil 250kΩ. Thanx a lot
This was so awesomely good!! So much info, very good reference when head gets full :) I had no idea the pots could vary that much. That must be one of the reasons why the same guitar model from a manufacturer can sound different from another. Thanks for the video!!
i need some help! my pickup switch for my ESP ec 50 broke i ordered a replacement..its a les paul tye guitar..2 humbuckers 3 way toggle switch..im just a lil coonfised.the old broken switch is like the one mentioned here in the video but ive got an import box type toggle with 3 prongs and a ggroun and the cavity in my guitar has 3 wires coming out red, black and green..i need help on wiring it to the 3 prong toggle switch and how do i ground it?
can any humbucker pickup be used on series/paralel fashion to use them with a coil tapping potenciometer for a humbucker/single coil sound?. more specific I have a epiphone sg custom (3 humbucker) and I want to swap pickups for gibsons, 57 classic on the neck, 57 classic plus on the middle and angus young on the bridge but using coil tapping potenciometers to get the single coil/humbucker change. is that posible?
My George Lynch Seymour Duncan pickup on my BC rich has a weird problem where the high e has less volume to it even though i do not differ my picking and it is really noticeable when i try to do sweeps it is only 1 pickup that does this any suggestions?
Credit where its due that was an excellent video nice one, think you answered my question without even knowing it in your animation. I got confused as to the convention used for humbuckers mainly Seymour Duncan as there diagrams were labeled north start north finish south start south finish which made me scratch my head how that worked. if i got it right north start and finish is one coil(north side of magnet and south start finish is the second coil, the coil on south side of the magnet
I wish some one would post a video on a double neck guitar wiring. I have an EDS 1275 and no idea how to wire it correctly. I challenge anyone to find any help for this online other than 1 useless black and white schematic.
I just finished taking a lot of electrical fundamentals courses. This makes a lof of sense in terms of doing things in series and parallel. I guess it just kinda depends on the sound that you are going for. This was so helpful thanks for the video. I just finished doing a set of 4 lightbulbs (Loads) that you can flip a switch and make them run in series and parallel when you close the SSU. Using like 4 contactors. I wonder if there is a way that you could make a guitar do something similar.

Are there any issues or sound changing on the pickups using the decoupled way of wiring? I mean, db loss from pickups, poor sounding...
Thanx

if tone pots are linear can you put a volume pot in its place to have a more even response?

It's not much info guys...He's not filling your head with chemistry equations neither is he filling your head with einstein theories.
It's just telling you how things work and why they work in the way they do.
I'm 17 if your an older guitarist and having trouble with this. Drop that guitar and send it to me.

Why don't you stop complaining and read this and try to learn 'why' you're guitar isn't working ? Or would you rather pay someone to do it for you?
