  • Yeah, they used a type of sodium in the primer which decomposes in to sodium chloride (table salt). Salt+moisture+steel=bad news. Basically you've gotta shoot the stuff and then clean your rifle shortly after, which is the way any responsible shooter should treat their weapon anyways. Use the machine, then clean the machine.

I'm probably going to jump on the bandwagon and order an 880 case for $135. Not reloadable though. :( Gonna get some Winchester white box for reloading; expensive though.

  • @gymkhanadog the question is weather the hopes #9 is a REQUIREMENT to shoot corrosive ammo i read somewhere that they changed their formula at some point and that it basically the same as any solvent

  • @mymerc4 I haven't run across that product yet, personally. In reading about our 91/30's I've seen people use Windex, Simple Green, WD-40, or plain ol' rifle cleaning kit with solvent and oil.

I'd wager it's not a requirement. After all, did Russians have Hopes #9 70 years ago when these rifles were used? :D

  • @gymkhanadog since 1903!

  • but im pretty sure he got 2 cans for the 135$ as i just came from the site he ordered it from via a link he left :)

  • @powang59 @Nitricthunder i apologize it was around $102 shipped for just one 440 tin.

  • you should get this from sgammo, i got mine for $90 shipped.
