It's definitely made in japan. I have one as well. I have the black pick ups and no "E" on the pickguard which, from what I've been told, means it's the first of the japanese epis. 1971ish.
I have one exactly like this one, and I wanted to know a little more about it. I always thought this was a 75-76 model. Can you tell me more about it if you know? Thanks.
Wooodstock69 -- I have owned one of these from 1987 to present. If you notice any separation of the body from the binding on the cutaways near the neck, be wary. Mine just caved in one day at the binding. They sound great but they're not very well designed. Be very careful with this instrument, don't jostle it around too much.
Got the same model, although the headstock on mine looks a little different and it has the plastic pickups which make it look a little on the cheap side, my luthier advised me not to change them due to the fact that it could lower the value.... not that I'm thinking of selling... Great playing by the way... happy new year....

I'm thinking about buying one of these, but I have read terrible reviews. Yours, contrary to what I have read, sounds fabulous. So, my question is: what is the build quality like?
I thought Gibson packed up and went overseas in 1970. I might be wrong, but i'm pretty darn sure. If this guitar really was from the Zoo' then you were pretty lucky to be able to play it for a while.
your very correct, theres no way this guitar was made in kalamazoo unless it is older than 70's. epiphone stopped creating guitars in america around the late 60's early 70's. they were made in japan, then korea, then china were they are mostly made now. if you have a korean epi that is 80's and under then hold onto it, they are worth money and will only climb in value
Hi again, i forgot to mention that i have the same guitar. 1972, very near mint, original and complete. I just had it set up by one of Londons top luthiers Mark Pressling, he has worked for some of the greats over the years including Pink Floyd and Status Quo and worked with Fender to produce a strat to commemorate Hank Marvins 50 years in the biz. He has photo's in his workshop when they presented it.
Anyways, he breathed some new life into my old EA 250 and now it sounds real good again.
yes i know, but i don't really have a reason for that..I sold the guitar one month ago and i bought a marshall jtm 45 built by Peter van Weelden. and i made a really nice greenback cabinet too so i'm back in action. I'll post a video of that soon.
Cool stuff, i got one just the same in near mint, made in Japan i think. what is the serial number on yours, mine 64016, i wondering if they were made around the time.
By the way, you play yours way better than me dude.
nice! you'r good, im in love with my acoustic fender as of yet but i jam with elecrtic guitars a bunch, soo much fun. ight well keep on rockin brother.
Hi thereè thanks for the comment and for being the first subscriber! If got 11 guitars and 6 amps.... all my money goes in my music. unfortunatly my parent don't really sponsor me:(. I'll post a new video tomorrow.
Great guitars. I've got a Lyle 5102t, which is the exact same guitar, but assembled in Beaverton Oregon under the Lyle name.

That right there is a Epiphone EA-250, Made in Japan (Before Japanese guitars became crap) Finished and set up in Kalamazoo.
If you want a vibrato arm you should buy a "Bigsby" one, with some spare spacers (I used rubber) from the hardware store.

Hi,
thanks for the information0. I've got the original vibrato arm but It got in the way so I put it of for the video

nice.
and your welcome.
i have noticed suddle differences in mine though.
i don't have an E on the pickguard, and don't have silver pickup covers.
so it could possibly be a different year.
but either way, it plays amazing.

hi I think your guitar is more from the mid seventies.
