  • Is this actually happening? An arguement? On this video? v v v

  • Dark, cynical, ironic, intelligent, sensitive, innovative, edgy, controversial, challenging, mildly but wittily offensive....all the things which make a healthy society also make healthy bands and healthy music...There are many exceptions in America, some of my favourite bands like Nirvana and The Pixies etc...but even Kobain would probably still be alive if he'd had a sense of irony and not taken himself so seriously. Or maybe he was murdered after all...who knows.

  • @moscowvespajoe Too bad you don't actually demonstrate those qualities; all I see from you is an oddly aggressive preoccupation with those across the Atlantic. Maybe if you moved past making snide, condescending comments on Youtube you'd be in a better position to extol your society's supposed virtues.

And I agree with you on Cobain, but then the exact same could be said about Ian Curtis...

  • At the Drive in sent me here.

  • i always cringe when I see great British bands like the Fall play in America . Genius is totally wasted on them, they just don't get it.

  • @moscowvespajoe go fuck yourself

  • @BitchinBaron you just keep listening to Whitney Houston and the Beach Boys , love...leave the good music to us.

  • @moscowvespajoe

I'm an American and I completely agree with you.

  • DAVID COLLIER WHERE ARE YOU ?

  • Bieber is better

  • its always fun to listen to instruments playing random notes :) i mean im totally whyaaa duh

  • @TheNathansmusic93 This criticism coming from someone whose channel contains L'il Wayne and Korn.

  • always love the fall

  • class is mr smith. totally wired is one of the fall,s (of that time) top songs if not the best.

  • totally

  • fuckin loves it :)

  • is that Christopher Walken singing?

  • @SnarfUrFlatFace LOL, it's someone even more awesome than Christopher Walken. Yes, it's possible.

  • I'm sorry but the intro sounds and looks like an intro to a dirty porn movie :S

  • Is this the highest view count for a fall video? Disgraceful, Simon Cowell and Simon Fuller want shooting.

  • People under 15 who listen to the fall are the future

  • Yes, I agree and Totally Wireds is a classic, awesome track . .

  • the bass is so good in this

  • @treadwedge Hahaha "base".

  • I love how he dropped the sticks at the beginning, for some reason that is almost like a visual depiction of Punk as a genre.

  • House and garage is my thing but I need to ask a question? Is there a more perfect band than The Fall? I don't think there is.... Utter perfection and they changed my life 25 years ago > never look back!!!

  • Is there anyone who still hasn't heard 'Cheap Space Chant' ?

In YouTube, search for 'Timekode, Mark E Smith'

and listen to the strangest and best MES/Fall

    collaboration of them all...

  • Has anyone got The Fall- Phoenix 1995-07-14 + Lomax, Liverpool 1994-01-20 DVD that was a torrent but has now gone. thanks

  • the Fall's best period is 1977-present

  • best one note bass solo ever

  • 1:47 A fly on the mic.

  • i love the album dragnet.their second album i think

  • This one was an anthem of sorts back when..

  • @ghoststation101 Still is.

  • @LiveAtReykjavik while I can still drink a jar of coffee.... a handful of these would probably kill me at this age...

  • @ghoststation101 But you've experienced it first hand. You're lucky!

  • post -punk is even better than punk! Wow... the basslines are fucking awesome!

  • Thumbs up if James Murphy sent you here

  • Saw them a few days ago in Paris. I'm afraid I walked out after Muzorewa's Daughter, a track more than 30 years old! He had really annoyed me with a dreadful video at the beginning an overlong and pointless shredding of Jacques Brel et al. That evening they were blown away by the 3 support acts. If only Smith would be a bit more selective with what he puts out.

  • You don't have to be a dyed hair, punk, fuck, shit, cock, fuck, suck, tick tock, powder.

  • He sounds like Arto Lindsey of DNA

  • dobbers

  • I'm watching this and the promoted video, above all the rather good suggested videos, is the fucking X Factor 2011..... Are the idiots trying to piss people off??

  • I FUCKIN LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!

  • i'm totally fuckin wired by this.

  • Uh could someone please fix the video at 2:04?

  • you dont have to be strange to be strangled

  • Skins<3

  • soo good!

  • The Fall are my favourite band of all time and '''Totally Wired'' is one of their best. In my opinion the best period was 1979-1982 .Mark E Smith's writing was at it's sharpest in these years.Somehow i never liked the Brix period as much although they still made some pretty awesome music; But for me their best album is '' Grotesque [ after the gramme ] [1980]. Who agree's with me ?

  • Comment removed

  • @dogshy61 i do :))

  • @dogshy61 I DO MY MAN! I agree on everything except I prologue the Greatest Fall era to Frenz Experiment, 77-89, the end. Always loved the Riley era more than Brix, but I love them both.

  • Back in the days when Steve stand next to Craig.

  • @dogshy61 Early Fall forever.

'Early Fall '77-'79','Perverted By Language' and 'Grotesque (After The Gramme' are my faves.

'After The Whitchtrials' is a good yin,too...

  • @dogshy61 totally agree mate....... ANEWFACEINHELL! will be playing at my cremation!

  • @dogshy61 I do. I became a fan of The Fall when I bought "It's The New Thing" in 1978. Never looked back.

  • @dogshy61 I agree. But Hex is my fave. All the 79-82 albums were the dog's bollocks though,

  • the fall are fabulous..................

  • this was my first non top 40 to experience

  • This is the one of the best bands in HISTORY OF MUSIC!!!! I love'em!!!!

  • the fall are NOT playing Phoenix hill

  • Ha ha Skins!! The hip young teenage show that uses 30 year old music cos they've nothing worth listening to of their own!

  • @nik418 I don't remember the fall being in any episodes of "Are you being served" why would new good music be on skins?

  • Comment removed

  • "When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro." That's a Hunter S. Thompson quote. That's awesome how Mark E. Smith threw that into the song.

  • FUCK that's badass. there's people who don't like this?

  • Skins Always use great music on its soundtrack and this is a perfect example.

  • @clowneska Skins? that is the like the antithesis of the fall and mark e. come the fuck on

  • @p1nkAcid look i was just saying that skins series uses great music on its soundtrack, so i wasnt (at least in my opinion) insulting the fall, btw I was a fan of this music way before i listened this song on skins series

  • Comment removed

  • I REMEMBER THIS SONG, IT WAS IN THE FIRST EPISODE OF SKINSSSSSS

  • @Frederickpou right!

  • @alsnow90 youve got more mouth than a cows got cunt mate.so pathetic thinking your better than other people.arse to you too.

  • @alsnow90 since you came up with that theory can you explain how the fall and the proclaimers are in any sense similar??

  • @alsnow90 takes an idiot to come up with such an obviously wrong comparison.

  • @alsnow90 are you joking??? totally different! (geddit?)

  • "one false note & yr SACKED " - mes.

    lol

  • @alsnow90 PROCLAIMERS to scotland? Yr welcome 2em....like, blahhaaa deblaaaade f*kn blaaaaaaaah.

    Seriously beespeccled mainstreem retards !

  • is this 70's ?

  • @Casymix7 this performance is 1981, dunno when it was written could easily have been pre 1980 as the fall formed in 76

  • Totally weird - and all the better for it

  • bitchin' camaro dude \m/

  • well...

  • He's totally wired.

  • Brilliance.

  • I still think The Fall were the truly great punk band from the UK. The Pistols started it, sure, and The Clash had a great first album, but for stripped down DIY punk they are the only ones who really had the talent to keep delivering.

When I say 'they' I of course mean 'MES'.

  • @batsnalla Mark is great yes, he's a true genius but the backup is HERE to STAY. In my opinion, The Fall nowadays sucks, because he has no musicians to support him. I hail to Scanlon, S. Henley, P. Henley, Burns, Brix, Rogers, Bramah, Leigh, Marsha, Tucker and of course, Mark Riley!

  • @LiveAtReykjavik Did you listen to their new recording?

    youtube.com/watch?v=ywD4YUBoWTw

  • @stewajf Tried, don't like it. Old stuff - worship.

  • superb live performance and recording. Many thanks!

  • superb live peformance and recording. Many thanks!

  • shite vt qty

  • Still stands the test of time after 30 years...you don't have to be wierd to be "wierd".

  • This has become a game of pick out the classics, but do it from memory without consulting the litera ture.

  • The Fall best punk band going

  • cloying music for the stuttgart police

  • That is seriously great guitaring. Just slightly before my time, so I am only catching up now... better late than never I guess!! Gheeze... where are all the bands that should be following in their footsteps. Its like a graveyard now... so many great 80s bands.

  • Captain Beefheart - Tom Waits -The Fall =

    Beethoven - Mozart - Bach

  • @edmundsampo

    LoL

  • these guys are touring aus!! :)

  • @Brokenriotband ... well... one of 'em is...

  • Fucking tight and/or wired...

  • I can definitely hear thier influence on Echo & The Bunnymen's first 2 albums, but mostly Crocodiles.

  • one of the most violent but awesome gigs i ever saw in the 80's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Another band I forgot about.

  • This almost sounds like the opening to Back in the USSR. Rock n roll or what?

Great stuff. Anyone remember The Fall @ the FFord Grene pub in Leeds circa 1980?

  • nice. check out HELLFIRE SOCIAL's music cideo

  • @accidentinspace no its your sister, thought you'd know that as she changes your nappy every day

  • when the going gets weird, the weird turn pro...

  • @rohedron gotta love it when a singer quotes an author in a song

  • Thousands of cds in my varied collection, all neatly shelved. The only ones I leave out after playing are The Fall, say no more!

  • my heart and i agree.........

  • @budmonkey Is that you in your avvy?

  • Esta tarde en el forum, eso sí, un poco más viejitos

  • "i drank a jar of coffee, then i took some of these"....lol ....m.e.s is soooo cooool, and such a prick...hahaha.....

  • fucking it iknow cause i was there. the fall, m.e.s were one of the best no doubt. a poet a rapper for our time and the beyound

  • Mark Smith is an amazing voice, the lord of the rubbish dump, a flagpole, an industrial sound instrument, a sardonic demon that God keeps around to remind him of the stupid things He has created.

  • @tcoreyb Couldn't have said it better myself.

  • The studio version of this takes no prisoners....criminal how underappreciated they were/are....another band who other bands emulated to much more success

  • fab.

  • Discounted tickets for The Fall in the Liverpool 02 Academy 2 on the 19th of May. They're normally £17 but we have them for £10. Send us a message on this if you'd like one!

  • love The Fall!

  • Ok if you guys like punk rock thats a little hyped listen to At the Drive In EARLY 90S BAND IST GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Gotta disagree with the Velvet Underground comparisons... the music rarely takes the chances that VU did, and the lyrics, while hip, are generally emotionally aloof and shy away from any vulnerability or attempt at emotional depth... They're cool and fun to listen to, but I really think the aesthetic is very different from VU.

  • @veranka3

Correct. For the rest, comparisons between VU and The Fall are a bit misguided. They both employ[ed] abrasive noise as a musical device, and they were both avant-garde in their approach to rock n' roll, but that is where the similarities begin and end.

  • nice.. never noticed the Hunter Thompson "quote" in there.."when the going gets weird, the weird go pro".. i fuckin love that line.. the fall go great with football and beer at 10 am.. cheers from canada eh

  • i spit on your facile presumptions

  • siiick tuuune mother lickas

  • To the man who told me i didn't have to stink to be a pvnk, thanks.

  • Theyre okay. They're no Nickel back though

  • haha

  • @thelivingsped Nickleback? You're not being serious? Nickleback don't even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentance as The Fall!

  • @finnan0333 Are you kidding me? Obviously you haven't heard the song rock star!

  • @thelivingsped Uh yeah, I have actually. Sorry to break it to you man, but it's shit. There is absolutely no artistic value behind it whatsoever.

  • @finnan0333 Dude you don't know what you're talking about... tell me you at least like the Insane Clown Posse! They are Juggelos! you know that's cool!

  • @thelivingsped Yeah, I do. Nickleback are the industry standard, they're complete rubbish. Insane Clown Posse are a tad contrived, aren't they? It isn't about being cool though, it's about art. MES is an artist, Insane Clown Posse are not. Nickleback definitely aren't.

  • @finnan0333 Nickleback rocked the very foundation of the music industry. You know it as well as I do.

  • @thelivingsped I really am not going to even start to answer that. All I'm going to do is laugh!

  • @finnan0333 They inspired bands like Maroon 5, and the Beatles, and youre going to say they aren't talented? wow.

  • @thelivingsped You're a fail. Maroon 5 are shit. And dude, unless Nickelback have a time-machine, it's kind of impossible for them to have inspired them. The Beatles broke up in 1970, and Nickelback didn't form until 1995. So that statement does not make even the slightest bit of sense.

  • @finnan0333 Have you ever heard of Beethoven? The composer? Well he was Chad Kroegers (lead singer of the one true band, nickelback) uncle, and he bestowed all of his powers unto nickelback. They can literally travel through time and space. If a T-Rex fought Nickelback, who do you think would win?

  • @thelivingsped you are either utterly insane or knowingly talking absolute rectal discharge just to wind people up

  • @sebsdadez Neither!! Did you know Nickelback Invented the telephone?

  • @thelivingsped bowie totally stole the riff for oh! you pretty things from "how you remind me" man, those guys invented music. i reckon chad would win against the t rex, but a triceratops would fucking kill him.

  • @donmandarin I agree, but the combined might of Nickleback, Maroon 5 and ICP stopped a meteorite from colliding with earth. They truly are the worlds greatest heroes.

  • @finnan0333

I don't know what the original comment was, but clearly someone thinks he's a comedian. Nickleback, ha...

  • @finnan0333 I can't believe you all are so stupid that you are seriously arguing with this guy who is clearly joking around., as he said things like Nickleback can travel through time etc. Your jsut making yourself look like an idiot

  • Untouchable Fall

  • Tuesday morning....and enjoying the soothing accolade of this fine band...

  • Ive Loved This Song Since I Was Fiveee (L)

  • Off skins <3

  • AMAZING

  • I saw the Fall several times in the early 80's in Philadelphia. We hung out with Mark Smith for a while; I still have a picture of him reading a comic book my girlfriend drew called "Landlord". I love the song The north will rise again. Good times.

  • your joking me dude????

  • good comment-ish what about us in the highlands are we musicaly bereft?

  • bag pipes ! looser !!!

  • The Fall were to England what Sonic Youth were to America in the 80's. They both picked up where the Velvet Underground left off after White Light/White Heat. Long as the world gets noise.
