YES... the world cannot win war against terrorism with the strength of arms or the use of it,
but with the world wide spread of knowledge which will provide people with sense of respect of each others with different religions and with progressive sustainable futures.
@vaporage Fuck you man. you know very well that that's an opinion. why the hell you got a be a downer for? yeah its an opinion that its the best film of our time
@Jacob96159 The way you are stating, "Its the best film of our time", is not how you state an opinion. Its like you are trying to say its fact. Now fuck off and don't bother coming up with some lame ass excuse.
@vaporage oh my bad! in my personal opinion the lord of the rings the return of the king is the best film of our time. or do you want it to be even more precise that i's obviously an opinion
Greatest film of our time. The story told, the emotion, Just amazing. And watching all the bonus material and documentaries on the making, it seems like such an amazing project to have worked on. The teamwork over 2,3,4,5 years. The togetherness, journeys. Just amazing. I would have loved to have been involved.
OMG GUYS! great news on virgin media's page their is an announcement of the new lord of teh rings "The hobbit" it will be in two parts and have already started filming, YES! NOTHINK CAN STAND IN TEH WAY OF LOTR! NOTHINK!
@darnocslew but it will not be better than the lord of the rings trilogy. the characters from the trilogy wont be there. only bilbo gandalf and maybe a few goblins

I'm not LOTR's fan. I didn't like 1st 2 movies but The Return of the King was really good. Aragorn (
Viggo Mortensen), Arwen (Liv Tyler), Eowyn (Miranda Otto), Eomer (Karl Urban), Faramir (David Wenham) and Sam (Sean Astin) were my favorite characters, especially Aragorn and Arven.
...but I really hated Frodo. He considered as main hero but he looks stupid, weak and useless in this movie. He was nothing without Sam.
Sauffron, you do realize that this trilogy(or hextilogy published in three books as the fans know it to be) has inspired hundreds of fantasy authors, myself included, and has sold god knows how many copies of both the books and the movies, and has a massive fan base. And I'm just sure it got that way by being bland. NOT! you are just biased against the series for some reason.

Yes, well, it's a damned good thing we're only nine years into the century...if this was the best we came out with by the END of the century, I'd certainly be ashamed not of the people who made this, but humanity's culture as a whole...rather overrated movie, I'm sure someone sympathizes with me?
Well, can't say I'm very surprised, in such a culture dead world...I don't care how great you think this film is, the fact of the matter is this: this piece of smut is overshadowing so many other great movies (I mean; greater movies) i.e. Casablanca, Citizen Kane, Shichinin no samurai, Goodfellas or any other movies that actually explore emotional depth, not the non-existent depth that is supposed to make an appearance in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King...in layman terms: it sucks
For YOU, this movie that has won 11 oscars, sucks. And there IS culture behind it : what has wrote J.R.R. Tolkien. The movies are like 50% of the books. And the Lord of the Rings happens across a small timeline in Middle Earth.
And it's not a single movie, it's a trilogy. So if you judge the depth of the characters by only viewing the end of it, well...
And why others classics would not "live" alongside ROTK ?
I could say that film Y is "overshadowing" film X.
Don't kid yourself, the Oscars have been a sham since their inception...mere counts of production employees voting for their own work!
And, as a bonus piece of knowledge, my previous comments on the film stand for the two preceding films as well
If you were to ask me, this film is a cultural mess of poorly executed cliches that was cloaked by a mass of a production team. It was a horrible massacre of both style and substance.
Let's not forget Peter Jackson's other "classic": King Kong ;)

Oh, I see...You used a computer to do all the thinking for you...oh, well you must be right then, eh? Tell me, do you have a full understanding of how the rating of films on rottent tomatoes are aggregated and averaged?
I don't need to. After all, I saw the movie at least 20 times, you see, with only the trailer in mind when it came out in 2003. I can make my own opinions.
And I'm tired of this. You don't like this movie, fine.
Just don't say that it overshadows other 'classics' (because it doesn't mean anything), or that the world is a 'culture dead world' (because it is ridiculous).

When this "classic" is the second highest grossing movie in the world, assuring that this is what the mass of people of would prefer to see...well, it doesn't send out very encouraging signals about the fate of human culture? Culture is comprised of much more than film, and if we're speaking outside only terms of film...we've been dead for a while, you and I...who will resuscitate culture? I do not know...but I can assure you it will not be Peter Jackson or his masterpieces :)

There is one other movie that can be equal to the LOTR, and that's Star Wars.
Other than that, I believe that this is the greatest piece of work.
From the books, greatest piece mankind has ever mad.
