That run Ritchie does between 3:16 and 3:26 was a zen moment. This is "GO FOR IT" rock, and if spontaneous manic improvising is not your cup of tea, well your a boring wanker !!!
DP was pretty coked up at this show, thats why Ian sounds like he does and Ritchie Plays like he does. Bit different but still cool....i like this version
Blackmore is the only one apart from JLT (who doesn't count) that thinks 'S&M' was the best reunion album they did. Lord, Gillan, Paice and Glover says 'Perfect Strangers', and I agree with them. Great album, brilliant tour.
Ritchie was always kind of shy in front of cameras, so he doesn't move a lot. And in this concert (bad that it was the one which was recorded) Ian Gillan had a bad cold! This is not his usual 80s voice (even if he may have become worse, don't want to argue about that) THIS IS A COLD, he says it at some point of the concert.
In 80 he was great, what is wrong with you People, it maybe up to audio or something, I definitely know it wasn't him, see, whole audio sucks.....unfortinatlly....:(
Ritchie Blackmore is God.

Compared to the studio version, this is insipid and weak.

Ritchie's tone here is sick,thick and swirly,sounds like he's using s fuzz pedal...the playing?brilliant as ever,of course.
A worthy virtuoso, the source of inspiration for countless Bach-esque players yet bettered by none of them.

Yeah, but at least he's not flubbing the lyrics on this one. Paice and Blackmore a blazing here.

Gillan looks very tired and worn out in this clip.

Gillan with a cold... great!
Someone should use this footage for one of the great live recordings when Gillan wasn't sick.

gillans voice far away, but a blistering solo from blackmore, worth a good listen ...

This is in fact Rainbow part 2 rather than pure purple.

what about the ones in between?

S & M, was'nt a bad album, i agree with you no Deep Purple album.
More like a Rainbow album, but there are some killer songs on that album.
King of Dreams.
The Cut Runs Deep.
Fire in The Basement.
Too Much is not Enough.
Are great and Catchy songs, to me some fans make to much fuzz about that Gillan is'nt on this record.
And because of that, they automatly mark it as a bad album.
Gillan or no Gillan the rest of the band stil is Deep Purple on that album.
Chears, ;) .
