Why are they worse off? Canada having a social safety net is not a liability, it is a strength. Not to mention having financial regulations on the banks is what has made Canada the best out of all the G-20 countries to weather the recessions. In fact Harper was parading all over the American media about our financial system, when ironically he was against most regulations and was working to get rid of them when he was leader of the opposition.

No argument here with the banks, thats one thing the Libs did right imo. As far as Human rights, Harper was speaking of the Kangaroo court Human Rights Commissions throughout Canada.  They no longer stand for actual Human Rights, they just attempt to persecute free speech. Read Ezra Levants book Shakedown, he owns those commissions pretty hard. 500 words isn't enough space to cover the totalitarianism that is the Human Rights Commssions. BTW, there are several Liberal politicians who agree.
