this wave is incredible, from what i hear it is not exactly consistent, only gets like that a few times a year, hope it does not impact the locals too much.

You've definitely heard wrong. This place gets like this anytime there's a decent sized south swell. It's not the most consistent spot in the world, but if you sit on it for a week you'll get it good. Everyone was trying to downplay the wave saying "it's harder than it looks" or "only pros can really surf it" all just to keep people from coming to it. But trust me, I've been there, if you don't know someone that knows where it is, you're not gonna find it. It's hours off the highway.
