Thre problem is not science, it's hubris. Real-life scientific researchers tend to have humility. They know exactly that science is about shaving away the ignorance, rather than growing the knowledge. Science journalists, fundamentalist atheists and science apologists, on the other hand, are too often arrogant, they have all the answers, and they're too inclined to ridicule all other kinds of knowledge. Fights ensue. Nobody wins.
did anyone else notice that guy who was previously blind and had his vision restored was wearing a watch at the time the photo was taken of him and his son? haha
Yes, idealistically a good idea. As long as those "crontrolling" people don't misued this idea to control or blind other's reality for their own benefit.
Howsi, relax! You are going to give yourself a stroke. Do you know any science history? Science has always been wrong. What science has always done is try to be more accurate about the erroneous science of the past. Not correct - just a little more accurate.
Science has said that they do not know what 90% of the universe is. You want to give them credit for how smart they are because they a name to the 90% of their ignorance? Future scientists will discover that the actual number is 99%!
@alwaysdeeper name any other field with a better and more SANE understanding of the world... science by itself teaches you to question the 'assumed truth', and come up with your own 'truth' and doesn't matter if the figure is 99.9999% , as long as it's not 100% :P peace ,V..
How can I accept your answer that our personal information and thoughts exist in dark matter (dark matter being a discovery made by scientist who claim to have answers about the universe) and also accept your other claim that history has shown that scientist don't know what they're talking about? How can both these claims be true?
If we should doubt the discoveries of science, then we should doubt the concept of dark matter. If we should doubt dark matter, then I should doubt your reply to me.
for Gridda who doesn't understand an analogy: the ipod = the brain.
for Hows: how about that 90% of the universe called "dark matter" i.e. "we have no idea what or where 90% of the universe is"
And for anybody else who thinks science has all the answers, take a look at history. They never have, although they always thought they did and they still don't.
for a smart guy, he sure has lazy logic. He said that everything is stored in the brain because if you cut out a part of the brain you lose some neural capacity. Well, if I lose a pinkie size piece of my ipod I lose capacity too. The info might not be in the brain if the brain is a transmitter. Lose part of the brain and you lose that transmission. All of the information could be located elsewhere.
@dcjack9 How ironic. Your reasoning is lazy. If you lose a pinkie size piece of your ipod, then that's only a consequence of language. Your ipod is losing a pinkie sized piece of itself. You don't lose capacity. Your ipod loses capacity. And it would have to be a pinkie sized part of your ipod in the right part, not the wrong one. The point is if you lose a pinkie sized part of your brain, you will see differently, smell differently, hear differently, taste differently, etc
@dcjack9 His points are dead on and very representative of neuroscience as of today. Realize, then, that you're not just critizing a single guy's "lazy logic," but an entire field and nearly all its research. (It's just something to consider).
My question to you is this: if you think it's possible that our information and thoughts could be stored elsewhere than the brain, then where do you propose that elsewhere is?
Seth a psychic in 1976 postulated that the "universe" is in fact a holograph which each of us projects. None of this information is new. Mystics have known this information and written about it.
I came across an interview on NPR this morning with David Eagleman which prompted me to Google his name. I'm reading "THE HOLOGRAPHIC UNIVERSE" and "THE SPONTANEOUS HEALING OF BELIEF" The information in this video gave me more insight into these two fascinating books! Life is fascinating!

I like how he mixes up stuff like "mother nature" and science. He's bullcorning to make scientific concepts more palatable.
