    How the hell can you squat with that music?

    My squat music at the moment is Jay Z + Linkin Park 99 problems.

  • i can squat 155lbs pretty easily for 30 reps how much should be able to do for 2-3 reps

  • There is no sharp line... Start using belt when you feel you need it.

  • Man if you consider those "squats"/.....well PLing has just gone too far in allowing high squatting/equipment then.

    You are good for about repping 450lbs in a real ATG FULL squat. Nothing wrong with doing lockouts but lets not describe them as squats.

  • Zaxx please go somewhere else with speech of squat. I have two world records in squat in two different federation. So if you believe that you know enough send me some instructions how to squat.

    Such thing like ATG FULL SQUAT does not exist in powerlifting. In powerlifting squat is defined by rules. I m sure you can find that on net.

    U doing same think like mixibg rules of basketball and football.

  • How low is too low?

  • Generally, you want the crease of the thigh to break parallel with the knee. Any higher, and its not low enough. Any lower, and it places sheer forces on the petella of the knee. A pretty exact ROM is needed.

    Kasey Akira doesnt know what he/shes talking about... a full squat actually benefits the knee because it keeps the hamstring under tension and allows the hips to reverse the direction of the weight rather than the knee. A "pretty exact ROM is needed" does that even make sense? Fuckin dumbass

  • Very good! You demonstrated the knee wraps perfectly!

    I only have one issue with your technique though... shouldn't the crease of your thigh (the fold that happens at the bottom between the top of your leg and your hip) be BELOW the top of your knee? This is the bottom of a squat movement. It looks as though you're not quite going low enough, but maybe I cant see it from that camera angle.

  • Also, training with a belt takes the workload off the vastus abdominus, an internal muscle that already functions like a belt, and taking away the stress by using a belt will cause this muscle to atrophy, creating dependence on the belt. Maybe you wearing it just as part of the demonstration?

  • No. I wearing belt on heavy lifts and I have no worries that any of my muscles will atrophy.

    I feel need for belt on squat and dead lift. On strongman competitions I m flipping tires and loading stones without belt.

  • Excellent lifts! I am getting close to 585 for 1.  I can do 495 for 7-8. I've squatted 545 when I was only doing 495 for 4. Very soon I'm gonna give it a go! And that's for 1 LOL, you're a beast. Any more tips?

  • awesome performance and very useful for beginners (like me) who want to learn how to wear knee wraps.

    How long can you bear the wraps on ? In my first geared squat I had to take them off and again on at every lift. ( I couldn't bear more then 2 minutes....)

  • True! Keep your knee wraps only for one set (not more than 2 min).
