  • MY CLAIM TO FAME. . . I made a cine Film in 1987 and entered it into a competition called "Showreel 88". In my film "The Man" I had a main character which was a chinhead creature. The Tenants adverts only appeared after this competition and I found out the judges were likely influenced by my creation and used the idea in their advertising campagn! Wish I could have royalties from my original idea!!

  • Grant Mackintosh was the lead singer in Love Decree and song the vocals on the advert too ! Excellent voice ..

  • actually , the writer of this music left the band before the songs release , and the bandmates took the credit for it , but the writer went to court and sued them , so really love decree just performed it

  • I work with a lady, who knows the chap who once played keyboards for this song, and the guy who did the vocals too.

  • I finally found a bar in Newcastle which does this on draught. Can't remember the name of the bar though but its on the same street as Frankie and Bennys and The Pacific Bar.

  • @Jermyn78 The bar is called LYH by the way.

  • @Jermyn78 12-22 Northumberland Road , NE1 8JF

  • Refused to drink this when they sponsored Rangers.

  • I hold this advert soley responsible for me drinking Mcewans to this very day! lol F**king awesome song! :-D

  • great song crap beer! lol

  • I always thought this was for Tennents. No wonder I struggled to find it.

  • Whatever happened to McEwans lager? I sank enough of the stuff as a kid but then it just seemed to vanish. Excellent advert by the way.

  • Theyve started selling it again draught in some places. Try the Solid Rock in Glasgow. They sell it.

  • you can still get the scotch ale here in america. it tastes like shit but will completely deplete your liver within a few days lol

  • The group was called "Love Decree". I used to have the CD single as well, until it got stolen. Still have the 12" though. And to prove I'm a geek, it was produced by B.A. Robertson.

  • well done you! was just thinking about a horse gig in zanzibars and couldn't remember love decrees name :D fab!

  • @AliJohnBaker but were love decree derived from Hiipsway in any way?

  • @tammas2000

Completely different band there pal (as far as I know), but someone once told me that Harry Travers, Hipsway's drummer, is from my home town (Bo'ness).

Johnny McElhone played bass in Hipsway, and does so in (the People's Collective of) Texas.

  • @AliJohnBaker ok bud, cheers.

  • A real blast from the past.I've got the CD single of this in my collection!

I prefferd Hipsways "Tinder" as a theme.
