Sorry.... but you've obviously been listening to the deluded bass player who was fired from the band long before the advert was made & the song written! In retaliation, he tried to sue the band and claim he wrote the song - his claim was immediately quashed and he disappeared into obscurity!! Trust me... the song was very definitely written by Robin Gow (keyboards) and Grant Macintosh (vocals). ;-)
MY CLAIM TO FAME. . . I made a cine Film in 1987 and entered it into a competition called "Showreel 88". In my film "The Man" I had a main character which was a chinhead creature. The Tenants adverts only appeared after this competition and I found out the judges were likely influenced by my creation and used the idea in their advertising campagn! Wish I could have royalties from my original idea!!
actually , the writer of this music left the band before the songs release , and the bandmates took the credit for it , but the writer went to court and sued them , so really love decree just performed it
I finally found a bar in Newcastle which does this on draught. Can't remember the name of the bar though but its on the same street as Frankie and Bennys and The Pacific Bar.
The group was called "Love Decree". I used to have the CD single as well, until it got stolen. Still have the 12" though. And to prove I'm a geek, it was produced by B.A. Robertson.
Completely different band there pal (as far as I know), but someone once told me that Harry Travers, Hipsway's drummer, is from my home town (Bo'ness).
Johnny McElhone played bass in Hipsway, and does so in (the People's Collective of) Texas.
Sorry it's taken so long to reply.I've not been checking my hotmail account. The song is by a band called Love Decree. If you have trouble looking for it give me a shout.......Davie

I work with a lady, who knows the chap who once played keyboards for this song, and the guy who did the vocals too.
