Should he have fortified Harimandir Sahib? Used it as a battleground? a fort? He gained support politically by doing this, and he knew it would work. Prior to the Golden Temple attack support wasn't very strong for this whole thing. So what was the sensible thing to do? Make it a religious issue. How? Provoke the army into attacking the temple. The temple should have never been attacked though.

@TeKNiQ50 If u have ever read sikh history , u must have been aware of the fact that Sri akal takht was governed by Mirri-Pirri de Malik Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib,who himself wore two swords, to protect and defence.He had his armed singh forces all the time with him,while declaring or saying somthing to singhs ,always use to have weapons with them in the premisis of sri gurudwara sahib ,,abt fortification,sikhs with weapons used to guard the four of the doors of gurudwara sahib all the time.

Brother, suddenly packing the complex with weapons and preparing it to become a warzone full of guns and explosives is different then carrying swords. They weren't carrying out tradition by bringing modern weapons into the complex, they were provoking war.

And back in the days of the history you speak of the Muslims were openly anti Sikh and Hindu. The complex would have been an obvious target by the Muslims. This wasn't the case in 1984 until it was fortified.

@TeKNiQ50 Brother, the only reason Sant Jarnail Singh Ji brought in the modern weapons were because he knew that one day their would be a attack on the temple, he knew this because some soldiers that resigned from the army had told him they resigned because there was going to be an attack on the temple that Indira Gandhi had ordered. So thats why he brought in the modern weapons.

Did you know "Sant Ji" on a personal basis? Did you ever meet him? No? Then you don't know for sure, right? Admittedly this also means I can't know for sure either. But as far as the information you get about your sant goes, it's coming from one of the two extreme ends of the argument. You either hear it from hardcore khalistanis, or people who favour India. So most of what everyone knows about this situation is incredibly biased, as its nearly all from secondary sources.
