Fountain is the smoothest boat out there. Maybe not the fastest if you are comparing it to like a Skater Cat or an Outerlimits but it definatly handles the waves better. We have a 42 lightning and she's smooth.

Why aren't Cigs winning races and Beaks are??? Sure they'll beat you up a little bit more and you must KNOW how to drive them, but beaks sure as hell won't be any slower than a Cig in the rough. I've got a baby beak (29) and I leave my buddy in his Sutphen behind in 4' water regularly. (BTW I have seperate vids of each of our boats on my page...) Thanks to Trent Weyant and Ben Robertson, I've learned HOW to drive a Fountain. They do require more attention. Cigs and Apaches are still cool though.

cigs and apaches blow. got a 42 with whipple blown 525's putting out 800 hp a side. not sure what you are talking about hard to drive ? at 100 it is stable as a rock

long sad story, started at Advanced marine lake of the ozarks BIG MISTAKE, had them rebuilt twice. whipple was NO help as was teague [ where we bought them throuh ] big finger pointing cicle jerk 70K and 15 MPH later [ you read that right ] we are still not 100 % been to multiple HP shops. i would not put a whipple on my weed eater

idk what you mean by "in the rough" but offshore you need a 47 foot fountain if you wanna handle like a 38 cigarette. on a lake it's one thing but when your offshore you feel the difference, a 38 fountain feels like a 32' boat

ApacheMike is the only one that has responded in this deal that knows what he's talking about. The Beak and the swimstep of a fountain are ridiculously huge, the boats run fast becuase they aren't as big as they claim. Which becomes VERY apparent in rough conditions.

you can't compare a 38 fountain to any other 38 foot boat subtract at least 5 feet for the bow overhang and the swim platform then compare it to a 33 foot boat and see that they really aren't that fast.thats not taking into account the notched transom and delta pad that make the boat even less of an offshore performer. Reggie fountain squeezes every inch out of the boats he makes.

id take an 18-20' hydrostream V hull against any cig 20 in the rough any day of the weak.... the fountain 38 is the same theory... and it works very well...
