Capitalism & Communisim are both power from above. Capitalism from large corporations, communisim from the state. Cuba survived & thrived the people coming together and the state getting out of the way unless necessary. Just like the plants in the permaculture farms, societies need to have strong roots, & strong local support, not central control.
the type of Capitalism you're talking about requires state power to exist, without the government assistance and corporate welfare, corporations would not be nearly as competitive and destructive to the localized economy as they are now.

Well the Restrictions were really lifted by the US, its the US that had an embargo against Cuba, people from the rest of the world even Canadians could travel to Cuba, I know Americans that traveled there on a Visa, as long as you did not spend money it was considered "legal" under the US ( no trade ). sadly the Gov their also turned to Tourism out of need, there are many fancy resorts in Cuba, they have been there for a while too, since the breakup of Russia
It is important comrades that the people have access to the land and form co-operatives to grow food. More should be done in Aquaponics as well. THE CAPITALIST SYSTEM IS IMPLODING in which the poor will not be able to eat, and the consumer society will collapse, on a unsustainable economic infrastructure.
