hey, i have a problem, i got this laptop with a Nvidia display driver, and i think it is stopping the live ubuntu cd from booting up, so there is no way i can boot into ubuntu and no chance of installing it, so please can u either tell me how to fix this, or witch other lunux distro would work and is good, thnx

Hope that someone can help. I've been trying to install Ubuntu or Kubuntu. I want to replace XP on an old computer. When I try to install I get an error message that says something like ‘ENN: Error reading xeclur 9294’ in green across the screen. It comes up a number of times while it’s loading and the number at the end is different on each line. CD seems to speed up and slow down. Tried the following: slow burn on cd, changed things on f6, try OS without installing & I have checked the md5sum.

@quesomanrulz When you restart back to Windows if you restarted the computer and eject the ubuntu boot disc, don't you have to re-install everything back when you switch back to Windows?

when I download the ubuntu livecd from your link it downloads fine but I dont get an .ISO file??

It gives me a bunch of other files and folders that I have never seen before and I have no clue what to do with these? thanks

@Rleeson85 Hey I read your comment. You probably opened the .iso with winrar or another program like it apposed to saving the .iso itself. Sadly, you have to redownload the .iso file again. Just make sure you save it and not open with...

Ok dude i logged on to tell u how good your video is i watched other videos about burning disks but the make the iso sound like it was another file that u had to down load and burn on a disk with ubuntu the only other time i've used iso was for my cfw psp i got a disk free in the mail but theres a error on it lol i have no os so i'm just running it live tell i get a friend to burn me a copy that works

when ur computer starts up it shows the computer logo and something like

"press f2 to go to setup" , goto setup and set your cd drive as the primary boot device, you can change this back later

I would rather use (( Linux Mint )) as a Live CD it works better for live CD because a video codec come already installed... so with Linux Mint CD you can look at videos on youtube with out install flash player... or just use WUBI

Got It the iso file got skrewd i download ubuntu 6.10 and it worked fine so i downloaded 9.04 again and it worked....

Wait longer, I had this problem once and I found that worked. If you leave it for 10 minutes and it still doesn't work you need to burn at a lower speed. Something like 4x should be safe.

OMG, i installed ubuntu to a diferent partition, but using vista. Then when i formated the vista partition, ubuntu partition didn't run.( Dx ) I had to delete it, but i was wondering if there was another way to revover the boot selection.

Wow LOL I didn't know that anyone made RAM that small, for that I suggest not ubuntu but another Linux distro called Damn Small Linux or DSL. It is similar to ubuntu, it is has a desktop and all that but it is very small and designed to run ok very slow things. I currently have DSL running on a USB flashdrive and it runs fairly well off of there. If you have a terrible computer but want to run desktop Linux there's nothing better than Damn Small Linux.

Well, it's really up to you but have you looked up exactly what you want on google and stuff? I mean, the only thing that Linux can't do real well is games as far as I know, and it can even handle that some with WINE. If you only have a few things you need you might consider getting the windows application and running it on wine.
