@2guntex Yes - amazing song - originally released by The English band "Family" with a couple of these guys that you see here - Roger Chapman and Charlie Whitney - the album was called Bandstand - quite amazing album really - also see if you can find a trck called "Burlesque" - when you find it turn up the volume to max
Does anybody like the Streetwalkers Live (album) version of this? I think it's the best I've ever heard. Have a listen if you can - the backing vocals totally make the song. Tench does a great job here but he was never better than on Streetwalkers Live. There's a moment when they come back after the guitar break and do the "ooohs" and "da da das" (here it's at 4:03) , then the last chorus where they both sing contrapuntally - it never fails to give me a lump in my throat.
I've been listening to Family for 30 years but I never even knew about this stuff. Bloody brilliant. Roger's really getting his singing voice together with this band, especially the heavier side of it, as in 'Run for Cover'.
Now, having all of Family's albums and thinking there was no more to have, I can start collecting Streetwalkers albums when and where I find them (still got a good turntable ;-).
Never got to see Family, as US tours were rare and dates always seemed to get canceled. Did see Chapman/Whitney Streetwalkers twice playing small clubs in local Baltimore/DC venues in '76/'77(?). I remember band being more rockus than these videos, and Roger C. walking on tables, alternately consuming or kicking over patrons' drinks-he seemed to prefer shorts to talls. Great band, great shows. Roger's a grand old man of English rock now, but whatever
@robertlaberge THANKS!! i mean really thanks..i thought those guys are gonna keep chit chatting and wipe the sweat over each other till the end of this clip!
nicko looks great as a young man =] his friend used his towel after him! with his sweat on it!
@TheAerosmither It reminds me of what gigs were like back then - there wasn't much thought given to stagecraft or dynamism. Band members would stand around in silence, or tuning up, letting the atmosphere die, before launching into the next song (Live Aid, with U2 and Queen, may have been a turning point, for good or bad). Having said that, I preferred it then! I don't like being manipulated, and if the music is good enough (as in this song) then there's no need for gimmicks.
What memoreys!Windows down, blareing the the tape, case o'beer on the front seat from Miami to Key West on the overseas highway makeing way for a great weekend in my old Cutlass.Brought a tear to my eye, they'er still one of my favorite bands. Never made it in the U.S. big. They were soooo great! So much better than the pop bands of the time...
why has this only had 500 odd views? what the hell is wrong with people. This is such a great song by a great great band. Jeez, I give up. This song is a masterpiece, its happy, sad its everything a great song has to be.
Wonderful song =)

Delius.These are excellent videos.
This particular one is a real cracker.
Any chance of making a play list because I cant do it?
Young people are denied music like this because it is considered uneconomical.
It says everything about what we are served up in all walks of life.
This is just so refreshing.
Thanks for posting it.
