  • imagine if Rapture was the after life and really jack went to hell and heaven was Rapture before it turned to hell- ultimate MINDFUCK

  • this is not a soundtrack.........this is one piece of art!!

  • best game ever made

  • Thank god Ken Levine and this generation for giving us one of the best experiences in videogame history. I would love if a place like Rapture even existed.

    A masterpiece!

  • Featured in Bioshock 2 ending. wow. i didnt know that. XD ive played bioshock 1 for so long and i didnt notice that. i passed bioshock 2 in one night. it was too easy. and i put it on the highest difficulty.

  • Back again for my daily listen

  • You got an ocean on your shoulders. Well, I got a big iron on my hip.

  • well I can play it on air violin

  • does anybody know where i can purchase/download the song?

  • I can play this on violin

  • This is definetly my favorite bioshock soundtrack. But I wonder, is there more bioshock 1/2 songs that sounds a bit like this one? Please let me know.

  • @SquigFacer I've got a playlist of some other good songs from the bioshock games, but the most notables that would be similar to this one would be Dancers on a String(BS1) and Pairbond(BS2)

and @11Aquilar11 I did the exact same thing, but I found it well worth the search :P

  • @TheElfoftheHeadshot ok, thanks a lot

  • @SquigFacer "Pairbond"?

  • @NickJk6 A man choses

  • Haha i was seaching for this for so long, I didnt found it because I thought its from Bioshock 2, because it was also in the ending video of Bioshock 2

  • @11Aguilar11 ME TOO X^D

  • this song is so beautiful. in the ending credits when I first heard it i was shocked, appalled, it is just so full of emotion and can pretty much tell the story of rapture on its own for someone who is familiar with the story of what happens in the city at the bottom of the sea. And, in the 2nd game, it just made all the emotion even stronger. It fits these games too perfectly.

  • Is this from the very end scene?

  • @rexter42 well you can say that, it was the ending song for bioshock 2. but other than that no.

  • This needs to longer!

  • I know you may feel like the unluckiest man in the world, but I've got a family, and I need to get them out of here. *Atlas trollface*

  • Are their books for this game? Their needs too be.

  • @11StarFox11 Bioshock is actually a kind of parody of "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand. Instead of a utopia being built by all the inventive people "striking" and moving to one place, Bioshock has their world go to hell due to their greed and inability to co-operate.

  • @11StarFox11 yes their is :)

  • Best game in history

  • I chose the impossible! I chose Rapture!

  • @TheDEANinator1 couldn't agree with you more

  • @Exogen7 I chose to thumb up cuz I'm a man, not a slave!

  • @TheDEANinator1

It will never be able to escape its identity as a videogame, which most people will always think and decry as something childish rather than a piece of art.

  • @TheVoiceOfReason93 Why not? People can have basic decency, surely?

  • @TheVoiceOfReason93 Give it time, people said the same thing about movies. Video games are just the new medium right now and people just aren't ready to accept it as art yet, but as the industry grows bigger and people give a serious look at video games they'll realize.

  • Bioshock changed my tastes in music and art, after obsessing over the game so much, I became a fan of big band music and Art Deco.

  • im terrified of horror films, but when i played bioshock i was fine it just amazed me so much there wasn't time for fear :D

  • Possibly the most awesome, but deeply disturbing, game I have ever played.

  • As much as I agree how wonderful this track is,

it bothers me seeing everyone getting all superfluous and corny saying "how magnificent and original" it is...

Look up Swan of Tuonela... the music that this was based off of.

  • @TheDEANinator1 video games are art. but like all art, there is good and bad, and this stands on top of the rest

  • @TheDEANinator1 Indeed.

  • C'mon people its sad yes, but in all honesty It doesn't or has made anyone actually cry.

  • @SirRocketdog i was taking about the performance of the musicians and the talent of the composer

  • @mehdyAtreides I'm on about everyone in general claiming that they cried when they didn't. (I'm not saying the musics bad otherwise i wouldn't be here :P )

  • makes me sad and happy at the same time

  • I am a musicians and when i listen to this i am like crying because there is so much feeling

  • honestly when i first played,i truely believe i was helping atlas and his family escape rapture.when i saw the sub explode,i about cried.that was just....wow.i went from; "i'm going to escape,to oh god i'm trapped in this nightmare!". i believed that atlas lost his family.i just felt sorrow during that whole moment, almost helpless.then the splicers came,i was like "FUCK YOU!"

bioshock is forever one of my favorite games!

  • The ocean on whose shoulders, though? Jack's or Andrew Ryan's?

  • @leopoldmarsh andrew ryan,he try to make a perfect city, but when he discovered ADAM he make his dream city into a nightmare,he just want a better place and he finish with his dreams,at the end,he only have the oceans...the oceans on his shoulders

  • Bioshock <3 best game ive ever played

  • 20 secs on...perfect music if someone has died in like a movie...The wind sounds is almost like the soul leaving the body

  • I wish this was longer. :(

  • its kinda haunting, isn't it...

  • This song goes perfect with bioshock 2,s ending

  • In all honesty....I wanted to enjoy this game soooooo much. I gave it a huge chance and played the entire way through...and I just can't get into the gameplay. I can't stand it. Too stiff and difficult to control for me. But I will give infinite a try.

  • i heard they are going to made bioshock the miove bet you they will fuck up bad

  • I'm crying... for some reason T_T

  • if bioshock was a movie, this theme would fit perfect to the last scene then Big daddy realizes that his human and the station is about to drain with water becouse its destroyed, so he sacrafices himself to save that little bitchy girl and that protogonist dude. by holding the wall.

  • Ive been looking for this song

  • I'm got tears

  • umheimlich

  • Tim Burton making a Bioshock movie?

    I can see that.

  • Goddamn it, I love this game.

  • So beautiful. i love this track so much *-*

  • Très belle musique.

  • If you enjoy this, check out Gorecki's 3rd Symphony (Symphony of Sorrowful Songs). Gorecki's composition is stunning and moving and whoever composed this for Bioshock, is mimicking/paying tribute to Gorecki.

  • does any one know where i can find the sound track for the first and/or second game. and i mean the actual music made just for the game, not the real songs they added in (i already have those)

  • watch?v=au036eve4s4&feature=related

Play it with this for total awesomeness ( turn the bioshock's volume a bit lower than the other video's )

  • @MrDanny09261 lol that realy is good :D

  • playing bioschock is like getting awake from a nightmare... but in a good way... like youve really been there for a time! Like theres a real utopia under the sea... but only You know its there... like a secret

  • @VampiraSlayer wow, that's deep... like the ocean lol

  • Beautiful and sad

  • Moo!

  • If a set of CDs was released containing the "Best Video Game Music Ever" this would easily make the list.

  • @TheMadSlick Search for London Philharmonic and the best video game music. Trust me, it's on the list, and it sounds even better. It's a really good album and it's on here somewhere.

  • @TheMadSlick it did

  • @TheMadSlick There IS an album, it's performed by the London Philarmonic Orchestra :) And this is included.

  • @nightmaregirl06 Just looked at the song list. They did an amazing job in choosing songs.

  • @TheMadSlick it did =D

    check amazon for Greatest-Video-Game-Music

  • @TheMadSlick Thats funny because its on The Greatest Video Game Music

  • @MozzerJr42 sorry man but ill have to give that to the final fantasy genre. but i still love bioshock sountracks

  • @TheMadSlick It did xD Look up "The greatest video game music" on itunes and you find this song on that album!

  • @TheMadSlick I saw a Cd of the Best Video Game Music Ever and it was in it track 16

  • @TheMadSlick

I literally saw that very CD with this song on it today. Spooky...

  • This song play when rapture really happen

    but you are not taken

    then you found yourself alone

    in the fear and chaos

  • When the darkness of fear, hate, and uncertainty surround me I look up and reach towards the light where my only salvation resides and I do not go alone but bring all those I have touched with my compassion and understanding so that they to may see the freeing light of day I was created to be one but found myself in others.

  • Really one of the best games I have played. From its originality to its score, it was as near to perfect as a game can realistically get. The sequel may have had better gameplay features, but it just didn't have the same "je ne said quoi".

  • beautiful game and beautiful theme get into your head and make you feel every emotion that there is

  • Rapture is now lost...so we built a flying one instead...we just didnt expect the following problems to occur.

    Bioshock = Pure Awesomeness

    Bioshosck 2 = Awesomeness

Bioshock:Infinite: = we'll have to wait and see arent we.

  • @oddskull34 Well the flying city of Columbia, which will be featured in Bioshock Infinite, was built well before Rapture. In fact, Infinite will take place in 1912 so if it's set in the same universe as the other two games, it takes place decades before Bioshock. You're right about the games, though. This is a truly special and powerful series. I can't wait to play Bioshock Infinite next year.

  • @Trancemaster2052 Yea cant wait hope it'll blow the others away, just this far it seems amazing just so sad that they delayed it ;(

  • @oddskull34 Yeah. As long as it comes out sometime in 2012, I'll be happy. I was really looking forward to Deus Ex: Human Revolution coming out and it was delayed several times, but it was worth the wait. Bioshock Infinite looks absolutely spectacular judging by the trailers and gameplay footage released so far. I think it'll be one of the best games to come out next year, if not THE best. I like the new setting and direction but I hope the 4th one will re-visit Rapture one last time.

  • Too bad it's not even two minutes long.

  • When another game like Bioshock comes out...

This song will play, and I'll cry with a smile on my face...

    :)

  • This song just perfectly entrances the game. Soothing and peaceful. Good point bren 97122. I completely agree with your statement. It captures all the true emotions and easily compares with other shooting games.

  • @AwesomeZeldaGamer its cuz you are too stupid to understand whats going on

  • This is not a game

    Its more than that

Thete is no word to describe it

    Beeuuttiffull

  • I gotta say bioshock2 really got me to be more attached to the story and the whole protector feeling. bioshock 1 was amazing as well in the sense you are discovering rapture which was absoultely amazing. Guess you have to not be a mindless run and gun type to apprieciate this song (thinks of bioshock2 good ending /tear)

  • Is this song available on iTunes? I can't find the Bioshock soundtrack. iTunes has the Bioshock 2 soundtrack though. Dangit!!!

  • There is no words to desribe this aeesome game

  • Bioshock 2 was fun, but it was fun in the way a straight to DVD sequel is fun. Bioshock 1 on the other hand is one of the best games i have ever played. the atmosphere, the sounds. the quotes from the characters, every single word from Andrew Ryan sending shivers up your spine. The design, the background. The story. All of it, beautiful.

  • ''On the surface, I once bought a forest. The parasites claimed that the land belonged to God, and demanded that I establish a public park there. Why? So the rabble could stand slack-jawed under the canopy and pretend that it was paradise *earned*. When Congress moved to nationalize my forest, I burnt it to the ground. God did not plant the seeds of this Arcadia - I did. '' -Andrew Ryan.

Bioshock, best game ever. Even BS2 can't change that.

  • I have no reason for posting this, but I feel that if bioshock had any romantic aspect to the game it would have been ruined, as many movies and books are, so I give the game props, For being my favorite video game of ever. Its Awesome. Try it. If you already tried it try it again.

  • Sometimes in math, I think bout this game

  • 2k is so stupid for ditching rapture.

  • Am I the only one that gets chills all over when listening to this song?

  • @robobunny2000

    No, your not alone.

  • The main part makes me think of utopian dreams dashed and the regret of that; from 1.11 makes me think of the loneliness of being at the bottom of the sea; the beginning and ending make me think of the reality of your situation in Rapture: for all its decaying beauty and grandeur, it's a very dangerous place.

  • the bioshock soundtrack is fucking incredible. Definitely some of the best instrumental music in any game this gen.

  • Ahhh ... Bioshock ... the game that makes people truly think of their actions and ... unlocks the emotions in their, this song for example makes think that your long and painful journey is finally over. Thats why I think. How 'bout you?

  • 0:18 to 1:37 are the best parts in my oppinion...

  • It really is a unbelievable yet horrible feeling when you complete Bioshock 2... Great because you just completed what is ALREADY one of the best games ever made...but horrible because what are you supposed to do now. I have a shelf full of games and I dont want to play them, nothing will give me the feeling Bioshock 1 and 2 did...and I'm not even mad.

  • @HipAlbatross11

Well, alot of people, rather about 80% of the community of Bioshock, hated Bioshock 2 for some reason. I think it was just rushed in my opinion, less heart and more of filler compared to the original.

  • @TH44Faintear I disagree, I'm not gonna bash your beliefs tho. I think it had plenty heart... think of the relationship with delta and eleanor. I think the only thing the second one was missing was the 'scare' factor...and thats probably only because i felt invincible walking around as a big daddy.

  • @HipAlbatross11 I feel your pain. No games will suffice as replacement for the Bioshock series. I am still waiting for a game to come and fill the void. So far my only hope is Bioshock Infinite. The saddest moments in life really do come with the realization that the greatest moments are over.

  • @SpatialGrievance True. For now I am playing Fallout 3. I guess it will suffice.

  • 0:16 Bioshock 2's ending

  • i love this awesome song

  • Comment removed

  • isnt this the song from the end of bioshock 2?

  • love this song

  • thumbs up if their should be a bioshock club here on youtube and you want to join!!!

  • Beautiful... Just so beautiful. It truly captures all the emotions running high during the game. Fear. Anger. Hate. Uncertainty. Compassion. Righteousness. And maybe... Even love.

  • @bren97122 are you bout to cry?

  • @bren97122 respect

  • @bren97122

Took the words right out of my mouth dude.

  • @bren97122 dont forget sadness, anguish, devotion, and the main, unknown plot of all Bioshock games there were, or ever be, and that my friend, would be unearthing the truth of great city fallen to ruins, meant to be rapture, but ended up as hell

  • bioshocks story is like a book or a movie

  • this is the best song ever written for a game

  • chills.....

  • Gives me the good chills

  • This game makes me want to read Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead.

  • FINALLY GOT IT.

  • Remember Reach? REMEMBER RAPTURE!

  • I need this damn game but its so fucking hard to find lately.

  • @TheBiggamer64 yah same... i beat bioshcok in 3 days and i returned it quickly so i could get bioshock 2 for like 4$..... i now miss bioshock, the beginning were you go to rapture after the plane crash.... the doors open, the hissing and giggling of splicers. god that moment was a rush

  • Just imagine if this was just a minute longer. It would be one of the most heartwrenching pieces ever written for a video game...

  • "I am Andrew Ryan, and I am here to ask you a question. Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow? No says the man in Washington, it belongs to the poor. No says the man in the Vatican, it belongs to God. no says the man in Moscow, it belongs to everyone. I rejected those answers. Instead I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose . . . Rapture."

  • They told me son your special you were born to do great things,

  • @chimaira6668 you know what? ...they were right.

  • @PsychoticLoner I disagree that games are toys. Games are the only medium I see so far that make art FUN. Bioshock is a perfect example of art meeting fun, and THAT, I believe, us was games are at their best. Games are too unique to be classified as something already known to us. Saying games are nothing more than toys for our amusement does not give them enough credit.

  • @Thegreekboy250 Agreed, it's just the same as movies. Some are there to take your buck, give you your adrenaline rush and send you on your way, but some are the product of truly inspired creativity. Rapture was a fully realized, beautiful world of the human condition gone so terribly wrong. It'd be difficult for anything to amaze me the way the characters and city of Bioshock 1 and 2 did my first times through.

  • BioShock. A truly amazing game. Picked it up at 12. Wondering if you want to set the brightness higher because you're gonna piss yourself. Walking by an old stereo in the game hearing that vintage music from a while back. WELCOME TO THE CIRCUS OF VALUE.

  • @pokercards101 they make a bioshock movie I would totally see it.

I just ask 1 thing of them- DON'T market it as "based on the bestselling video game". It would be a huge turn off to non gamers as video games are known by most non gamers as toys, and would come off as a joke. Instead, market it as a movie and then, at the end, say "based off the video game"

  • @Thegreekboy250 WOW MAN UR SO SMART DID YOU THINK THAT UP YOURSELF?

  • @numberman52 HEY GUYS CAPS LOCK IS CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL.

    please troll elsewhere.

  • @Thegreekboy250 you take your terrible ideas elsewhere

  • @Thegreekboy250

Maybe you're right about not calling it that, but really, for one thing games ARE toys, even Bioshock. Beyond that, most people avoid video game movies because video game movies usually suck, not because they're legendary people who've never heard of video games that exist only in the minds of gamers.

  • This song is awsome :) so much emotion

  • This is hard not to cry to fo sho ho

  • I tried my best not to cry at 00:33 But I couldn't help myself due to this beautiful music.

  • @MissMademoiselle2 Man up.

  • I hope the music in Bioshock infinite is as good as this, Scratch that I hope the music is better than this.

  • like this if they should make a bioshock movie so we can show the movie studios of much people want a movie of this

  • @pokercards101 they are actually gonna start working on the movie soon. its gonna be directed by jerry bruckheimer

  • @history380 fuck not jerry . it is Gore Verbinski

  • @history380 i heard that they had to put it on hold becuase it was going to cost to much for an r rated version of bioshock. i think it should be a prequel it would be cheapier and more interesting

  • This song is so beautiful. I have been listening to it the whole day, it is feeding my soul.

  • Does this remind anyone elso of a twisted version of the medal of Honor Frontline OST?

  • anyone else tear up a bit, when they hear this wonderful piece.

  • Is this on iTunes? Can't find it.

  • "My streangth is not in steel and fire, that is what the parasites will never understand. A season for all things! A time to live and a time to die. A time to build, AND A TIME TO DESTROY!"- Andrew Ryan

One of his most epic quotes, no?

  • @MRbubbles754 I'm not sure but I think Robert Shaw ( Jaws, From Russia With Love, Battle of the Bulge, Force Ten From Navarone, A Man for All Seasons, The Taking of Pelham 123, The Sting, etc.) said that first, but I'm not sure.
