Thank god Ken Levine and this generation for giving us one of the best experiences in videogame history. I would love if a place like Rapture even existed.

Featured in Bioshock 2 ending. wow. i didnt know that. XD ive played bioshock 1 for so long and i didnt notice that. i passed bioshock 2 in one night. it was too easy. and i put it on the highest difficulty.
This is definetly my favorite bioshock soundtrack. But I wonder, is there more bioshock 1/2 songs that sounds a bit like this one? Please let me know.
@SquigFacer I've got a playlist of some other good songs from the bioshock games, but the most notables that would be similar to this one would be Dancers on a String(BS1) and Pairbond(BS2)
and @11Aquilar11 I did the exact same thing, but I found it well worth the search :P
Haha i was seaching for this for so long, I didnt found it because I thought its from Bioshock 2, because it was also in the ending video of Bioshock 2
this song is so beautiful. in the ending credits when I first heard it i was shocked, appalled, it is just so full of emotion and can pretty much tell the story of rapture on its own for someone who is familiar with the story of what happens in the city at the bottom of the sea. And, in the 2nd game, it just made all the emotion even stronger. It fits these games too perfectly.
@11StarFox11 Bioshock is actually a kind of parody of "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand. Instead of a utopia being built by all the inventive people "striking" and moving to one place, Bioshock has their world go to hell due to their greed and inability to co-operate.
It will never be able to escape its identity as a videogame, which most people will always think and decry as something childish rather than a piece of art.
@TheVoiceOfReason93 Give it time, people said the same thing about movies. Video games are just the new medium right now and people just aren't ready to accept it as art yet, but as the industry grows bigger and people give a serious look at video games they'll realize.
@mehdyAtreides I'm on about everyone in general claiming that they cried when they didn't. (I'm not saying the musics bad otherwise i wouldn't be here :P )
honestly when i first played,i truely believe i was helping atlas and his family escape rapture.when i saw the sub explode,i about cried.that was just....wow.i went from; "i'm going to escape,to oh god i'm trapped in this nightmare!". i believed that atlas lost his family.i just felt sorrow during that whole moment, almost helpless.then the splicers came,i was like "FUCK YOU!"
@leopoldmarsh andrew ryan,he try to make a perfect city, but when he discovered ADAM he make his dream city into a nightmare,he just want a better place and he finish with his dreams,at the end,he only have the oceans...the oceans on his shoulders
In all honesty....I wanted to enjoy this game soooooo much. I gave it a huge chance and played the entire way through...and I just can't get into the gameplay. I can't stand it. Too stiff and difficult to control for me. But I will give infinite a try.
if bioshock was a movie, this theme would fit perfect to the last scene then Big daddy realizes that his human and the station is about to drain with water becouse its destroyed, so he sacrafices himself to save that little bitchy girl and that protogonist dude. by holding the wall.
If you enjoy this, check out Gorecki's 3rd Symphony (Symphony of Sorrowful Songs). Gorecki's composition is stunning and moving and whoever composed this for Bioshock, is mimicking/paying tribute to Gorecki.
does any one know where i can find the sound track for the first and/or second game. and i mean the actual music made just for the game, not the real songs they added in (i already have those)
playing bioschock is like getting awake from a nightmare... but in a good way... like youve really been there for a time! Like theres a real utopia under the sea... but only You know its there... like a secret
@TheMadSlick Search for London Philharmonic and the best video game music. Trust me, it's on the list, and it sounds even better. It's a really good album and it's on here somewhere.
When the darkness of fear, hate, and uncertainty surround me I look up and reach towards the light where my only salvation resides and I do not go alone but bring all those I have touched with my compassion and understanding so that they to may see the freeing light of day I was created to be one but found myself in others.

@oddskull34 Well the flying city of Columbia, which will be featured in Bioshock Infinite, was built well before Rapture. In fact, Infinite will take place in 1912 so if it's set in the same universe as the other two games, it takes place decades before Bioshock. You're right about the games, though. This is a truly special and powerful series. I can't wait to play Bioshock Infinite next year.
@oddskull34 Yeah. As long as it comes out sometime in 2012, I'll be happy. I was really looking forward to Deus Ex: Human Revolution coming out and it was delayed several times, but it was worth the wait. Bioshock Infinite looks absolutely spectacular judging by the trailers and gameplay footage released so far. I think it'll be one of the best games to come out next year, if not THE best. I like the new setting and direction but I hope the 4th one will re-visit Rapture one last time.
This song just perfectly entrances the game. Soothing and peaceful. Good point bren 97122. I completely agree with your statement. It captures all the true emotions and easily compares with other shooting games.
I gotta say bioshock2 really got me to be more attached to the story and the whole protector feeling. bioshock 1 was amazing as well in the sense you are discovering rapture which was absoultely amazing. Guess you have to not be a mindless run and gun type to apprieciate this song (thinks of bioshock2 good ending /tear)
Bioshock 2 was fun, but it was fun in the way a straight to DVD sequel is fun. Bioshock 1 on the other hand is one of the best games i have ever played. the atmosphere, the sounds. the quotes from the characters, every single word from Andrew Ryan sending shivers up your spine. The design, the background. The story. All of it, beautiful.
''On the surface, I once bought a forest. The parasites claimed that the land belonged to God, and demanded that I establish a public park there. Why? So the rabble could stand slack-jawed under the canopy and pretend that it was paradise *earned*. When Congress moved to nationalize my forest, I burnt it to the ground. God did not plant the seeds of this Arcadia - I did. '' -Andrew Ryan.
Bioshock, best game ever. Even BS2 can't change that.
I have no reason for posting this, but I feel that if bioshock had any romantic aspect to the game it would have been ruined, as many movies and books are, so I give the game props, For being my favorite video game of ever. Its Awesome. Try it. If you already tried it try it again.
The main part makes me think of utopian dreams dashed and the regret of that; from 1.11 makes me think of the loneliness of being at the bottom of the sea; the beginning and ending make me think of the reality of your situation in Rapture: for all its decaying beauty and grandeur, it's a very dangerous place.
Ahhh ... Bioshock ... the game that makes people truly think of their actions and ... unlocks the emotions in their, this song for example makes think that your long and painful journey is finally over. Thats why I think. How 'bout you?
It really is a unbelievable yet horrible feeling when you complete Bioshock 2... Great because you just completed what is ALREADY one of the best games ever made...but horrible because what are you supposed to do now. I have a shelf full of games and I dont want to play them, nothing will give me the feeling Bioshock 1 and 2 did...and I'm not even mad.
Well, alot of people, rather about 80% of the community of Bioshock, hated Bioshock 2 for some reason. I think it was just rushed in my opinion, less heart and more of filler compared to the original.
@TH44Faintear I disagree, I'm not gonna bash your beliefs tho. I think it had plenty heart... think of the relationship with delta and eleanor. I think the only thing the second one was missing was the 'scare' factor...and thats probably only because i felt invincible walking around as a big daddy.
@HipAlbatross11 I feel your pain. No games will suffice as replacement for the Bioshock series. I am still waiting for a game to come and fill the void. So far my only hope is Bioshock Infinite. The saddest moments in life really do come with the realization that the greatest moments are over.
rapture is not dead its well and truly alive! carnt believe that 2k have ditched it, i mean i city underwater, is alittle bit believeable but in the sky?!?!?! WTF
Beautiful... Just so beautiful. It truly captures all the emotions running high during the game. Fear. Anger. Hate. Uncertainty. Compassion. Righteousness. And maybe... Even love.
@bren97122 dont forget sadness, anguish, devotion, and the main, unknown plot of all Bioshock games there were, or ever be, and that my friend, would be unearthing the truth of great city fallen to ruins, meant to be rapture, but ended up as hell
If you have a Facebook please search for Rapture Family and go to the one that has a picture thats says Welcome to the Rapture Family. I created it and would apperciate it if you liked it. Thanks
@TheBiggamer64 yah same... i beat bioshcok in 3 days and i returned it quickly so i could get bioshock 2 for like 4$..... i now miss bioshock, the beginning were you go to rapture after the plane crash.... the doors open, the hissing and giggling of splicers. god that moment was a rush
"I am Andrew Ryan, and I am here to ask you a question. Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow? No says the man in Washington, it belongs to the poor. No says the man in the Vatican, it belongs to God. no says the man in Moscow, it belongs to everyone. I rejected those answers. Instead I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose . . . Rapture."
@PsychoticLoner I disagree that games are toys. Games are the only medium I see so far that make art FUN. Bioshock is a perfect example of art meeting fun, and THAT, I believe, us was games are at their best. Games are too unique to be classified as something already known to us. Saying games are nothing more than toys for our amusement does not give them enough credit.
@Thegreekboy250 Agreed, it's just the same as movies. Some are there to take your buck, give you your adrenaline rush and send you on your way, but some are the product of truly inspired creativity. Rapture was a fully realized, beautiful world of the human condition gone so terribly wrong. It'd be difficult for anything to amaze me the way the characters and city of Bioshock 1 and 2 did my first times through.
BioShock. A truly amazing game. Picked it up at 12. Wondering if you want to set the brightness higher because you're gonna piss yourself. Walking by an old stereo in the game hearing that vintage music from a while back. WELCOME TO THE CIRCUS OF VALUE.
@pokercards101 they make a bioshock movie I would totally see it.
I just ask 1 thing of them- DON'T market it as "based on the bestselling video game". It would be a huge turn off to non gamers as video games are known by most non gamers as toys, and would come off as a joke. Instead, market it as a movie and then, at the end, say "based off the video game"
Maybe you're right about not calling it that, but really, for one thing games ARE toys, even Bioshock. Beyond that, most people avoid video game movies because video game movies usually suck, not because they're legendary people who've never heard of video games that exist only in the minds of gamers.
@history380 i heard that they had to put it on hold becuase it was going to cost to much for an r rated version of bioshock. i think it should be a prequel it would be cheapier and more interesting
"My streangth is not in steel and fire, that is what the parasites will never understand. A season for all things! A time to live and a time to die. A time to build, AND A TIME TO DESTROY!"- Andrew Ryan
@MRbubbles754 I'm not sure but I think Robert Shaw ( Jaws, From Russia With Love, Battle of the Bulge, Force Ten From Navarone, A Man for All Seasons, The Taking of Pelham 123, The Sting, etc.) said that first, but I'm not sure.
imagine if Rapture was the after life and really jack went to hell and heaven was Rapture before it turned to hell- ultimate MINDFUCK

HipAlbatross11 5 months ago
@HipAlbatross11
Well, alot of people, rather about 80% of the community of Bioshock, hated Bioshock 2 for some reason. I think it was just rushed in my opinion, less heart and more of filler compared to the original.
TH44Faintear 5 months ago
@TH44Faintear I disagree, I'm not gonna bash your beliefs tho. I think it had plenty heart... think of the relationship with delta and eleanor. I think the only thing the second one was missing was the 'scare' factor...and thats probably only because i felt invincible walking around as a big daddy.
HipAlbatross11 5 months ago
@HipAlbatross11 I feel your pain. No games will suffice as replacement for the Bioshock series. I am still waiting for a game to come and fill the void. So far my only hope is Bioshock Infinite. The saddest moments in life really do come with the realization that the greatest moments are over.

@SpatialGrievance True. For now I am playing Fallout 3. I guess it will suffice.

Beautiful... Just so beautiful. It truly captures all the emotions running high during the game. Fear. Anger. Hate. Uncertainty. Compassion. Righteousness. And maybe... Even love.

@bren97122 dont forget sadness, anguish, devotion, and the main, unknown plot of all Bioshock games there were, or ever be, and that my friend, would be unearthing the truth of great city fallen to ruins, meant to be rapture, but ended up as hell

pciz301 6 months ago
Just imagine if this was just a minute longer. It would be one of the most heartwrenching pieces ever written for a video game...

Thegreekboy250 6 months ago
@Thegreekboy250 Agreed, it's just the same as movies. Some are there to take your buck, give you your adrenaline rush and send you on your way, but some are the product of truly inspired creativity. Rapture was a fully realized, beautiful world of the human condition gone so terribly wrong. It'd be difficult for anything to amaze me the way the characters and city of Bioshock 1 and 2 did my first times through.
Snakespawn1 6 months ago
BioShock. A truly amazing game. Picked it up at 12. Wondering if you want to set the brightness higher because you're gonna piss yourself. Walking by an old stereo in the game hearing that vintage music from a while back. WELCOME TO THE CIRCUS OF VALUE.
yakamiteyakamite 6 months ago
@pokercards101 they make a bioshock movie I would totally see it.
I just ask 1 thing of them- DON'T market it as "based on the bestselling video game". It would be a huge turn off to non gamers as video games are known by most non gamers as toys, and would come off as a joke. Instead, market it as a movie and then, at the end, say "based off the video game"

@Thegreekboy250 you take your terrible ideas elsewhere
numberman52 6 months ago
@Thegreekboy250

MRbubbles754 7 months ago
@MRbubbles754 I'm not sure but I think Robert Shaw ( Jaws, From Russia With Love, Battle of the Bulge, Force Ten From Navarone, A Man for All Seasons, The Taking of Pelham 123, The Sting, etc.) said that first, but I'm not sure.
