  • XD My basset Taz does the same thing whenever I play the trombone or my sister plays the trumpet.

  • Lucy's great singing with the tune of clarinet. I miss my kid Ches usually singing with someone or with any playing music. Now, he's 12 years old (84yrs. -compare to Human age ), he slow down. Love all Basset kid. They're full of love and affection to the family. Do not know how will handle when he's gone. He make me happy when am blue. Always there with his sad eyes ,...telling me that sometimes we have a bad day and we are still OK ! Am sure all the family of these kids feel the same as am.

  • My basset is named Lucy as well, she "sings" when I play the guitar sometimes!

  • cool douet!!!

  • If I was this basset hound, I would get off the couch, stand up, grab the clarinet, break it in half, go back on the couch, and go back to sleep.

  • My basset hound jumped off of the bed and ran away when I started this video.

  • this video sucks balls ur sound is like 10 mins off

  • this video always makes my basset howl!!

  • One of the most enchanting voices!

  • it's saying

    SHUTTTTT UPPP, YOUUU SUCKKKK

  • If I had to listen to that *&^% clarinet playing for long I would really HOWL

  • @OldHowlingHound I'd bite the @#$%^&* clarinet player so hard,THEY would howl!

  • oh my! I have a basset named lucy too!! and her ears perked up when she heard this haha it was cute

  • Lucy is a cutie pie. She likes to add to the noise and it sounds great. How sweet, Basset's are simply the best breed out there. I have one too. But he doesn't sing. Give Lucy a hug and a kiss for me. Barb

  • HAHAHAH no one cares

  • Hounds are the best

  • Bassets like to howl along with tunes. The clarinet sounds like a howl....it's not hurting them..they all howl together quite often in a pack.

  • Bassett hounds love to sing. I grew up w/ a bassett hound and whenever I'd say Alabammmmie, my bassett hound would wag its tail and howl.

    I want one.

  • Goodness gracious,is THAT even a clarinet sound?!

  • your hurting his ears god damn it i shud fuckin punch you. lol jk its just that if it hurt my ears, and they have a much better hearing than ours, i cant imagine what he's hearing. he sounds as if he were in pain, so please dont do that anymore.

im not trying to be a bitch, i dont really care anywarys, i dont know your dog so i wouldnt know but please...be careful.

  • yere i no now there dushbags

  • go practice in a closet, gosh. that is what he is saying. his ears hurt. so do mine

  • i have the same couch

  • That sound hurts MY ears. I can't imagine what that basset hound is hearing. UGH!

  • Our hound dogs starting howling when they heard this :P

  • The reason they howl is because it hurts their ears dumbass. Plus it can effect their hearing

  • please stop it hurts my ears

  • i have 2 basset hounds. one of them will howl like that when i do haha its hilarious. bassets are really really stubborn dogs tho it took us a while to potty train them

  • Re: You're absolutely right. They are stubborn. People assume that means they're a bit stupid. They're not. They were bred as hunting dogs. Once they got a scent, They were to hold it & let nothing get in their way. I.E. be stubborn. Other than that, they're (I think), the best pets ..especially for children. They love children. They will entertain you to death. Bassets are just so funny. I envy you having a pair. I live in Washington, and we can't have pets in our buildling. Bummer.

  • there's no howl like a Basset Hound. They have no much laid-back character. I love them.

  • i hav a beagle

  • i was playing it badly on purpos lmao .

  • Well, you are playing it pretty badly. ;)

  • play a harmonica.

  • That pooooor dog! He's miserable. Sounds like our bassett Tuxedo when our son plays the clarinet. Thank God for Tux, our son plays better now and it doesn't hurt his ears so bad.

  • Scottish psychiatrist Dr. Charles Follen McKim Maloney had a team of singing bassett hounds that he trained to pull him by sled in the Scottish Highlands in the winter months. He was among the very few psychiatrists of the 1960's to use bassett hound transportation.

  • An Australian psychiatrist with the unfortunate name of Bruce Barrington Mongrel was inspired by Dr Charles Follen McKim Maloney's Basset hound transportation. He developed a boat something like a pedalo that was powered by a team of Basset hounds. Using Dr. Maloneys techniques of vetarinarian mesmerism he taught his hounds to sing sea shantys. He used his basset boat to visit the islands of the south west Pacific and treat mentally ill Melanesians. He retired to the Island of Choiseul in 1982.

  • My goodness, I had no idea Dr. Charles Follen McKim Maloney's Basset Hound Transportation system had been modified and improved upon by another psychiatrist in Austrailia. Thank you for sharing this.

  • my basset did that when i played the trumpet!!!watch my video of my basset

  • lol

  • stop. you're hurting his ears.....i have a basset and he was really sensitive ears!! PLEASE stop!

  • YEAH I AGREE!

  • The bassett is hawling because this sound is fearsome. He is trying to tell you:"STOP IT PLEASE!!!!!!"

  • YEAH!

  • I used to play the harmonica to make my beagle howl when I was a kid until the Vet that lived next door told me that it hurts their ears. It's not just how loud it is, but it's the frequency that hurts their ears more so.

  • i would howl 2 XD my basset does the same thing only when we play a kazzo or harmonica so we barley do lol

  • they howl because their ears hurt

  • poor basterd fuckin tesing the hing man iv got one my self

  • bubbo wubbo!

  • the dog wags its tail every time it howls, and as we all know, dogs wag their tails when their in pain.(sarcasm)Dont worry about the people who dont own a basset and are giving you trouble. mine is in the room right now and got all excited hearing yourlol

  • my bassett does the exact same thing

  • why does that go so perfectly lmao

  • it's so cute!!

I have two bassets, and I love them to death!!

  • WOW I was so suprised to see people bashing this video that basset is NOT in pain. I own two bassets and the do this all the time. For all of you that were rude You really must not know much about dogs. I loved the video and thought that basset was super cute.

  • Dogs howl when they hear a sound that sounds like howling to them, not when you're hurting their ears.

  • That basset is wanting to be a part of the family and is just adding her two cents. I'm a musician and have had beagles in my life for over 20 years, and they love to join in with my singing and violin-playing. If they didn't like it, I assure you that they would sound MUCH different than this. Lucy is adorable.

  • omg you cant play the clarinet. my dog loves when i play. he just sleeps. yeah keep laughing ill find you

  • mmm dog yawning lazily,a sure sign of distress

  • kadromsgirl

i have 3 lovely bassets they are one of the best dogs you could ever wish for. and you know fuck all. at your age i would have thought you would have grown up by now. ROBOCOCK0 is right with hes comment.

  • hewlett. that bassett hound is not in pain, dont know where you learned english either...

the bassett is just howling back to the clarinet, my dogs do it all the time, even if someone is just singing. if it was in pain it would be yelping, not howling.

  • Do you even own a bassett? yeah okay, didnt think so. I have two bassetts and all bassetts make those noises. youtube some more videos. i also play a musical instrument and am aware of the noises it can make, and that clarinet is not a dog whistle.that bassett is just fine. I love my dogs, and wouldnt do anything that could hurt them. if you're really concerned as a vetrinarian next time you're out; namecalling just makes you look stupid.

  • @ my next door neighbour once said she was going to call the RSPCA as my dog sounded in distress. Truman the Bassett is super happy, he just howls a lot when he sees squirrels. I love Bassetts, they are the most loving soppy dogs on the planet. x

  • if Lucy is in pain, then why is she wagging her tail? Lighten up!

  • When i get a basset hound shes sleeping with me! lol

  • If that dog is anything like my basset it must be hard to get her off that couch

  • So adorable!!!

  • My basset Chester does this if we play the piano or saxophone!! So funny!

  • fudge!!!!

  • O MG!!! i have a basset hound named Lucy!!! grrrrr lol

I've tried to kill my bassett with kindness...... I.E. >>>>>> a spoonfull of peanut butter and watch the fun.

  • How come bassett hounds never lay on the floor?lol

  • this was really funny!!!

  • Nope, doesn't hurt their ears a bit. They are bayers, that's what they do. I LOVE BASSETS!!!!!!! :o)

  • Too funny.

  • No, it doesn't hurt his ears. Dogs howl because they want to be part of the pack. It's how they communicate. He's so cute!

  • you know that hurts the basset's ears.

  • haha dad. this is so funny. i was TRYING to play the clarinet bad though
