I bought logitech z506 . I have a problem with the back speakers it makes a buzzing sound i see the problem with most people who have logitech z506. If i buy my self a new soundcard that supports 5.1 do you think it will fix the problem ?
I was hoping this video would tell me how to turn off the on-board sound card, yet I cant find a video on this. Guess I have to do this the old fashioned way. Just search the BIOS until I find it. Maybe you should make a video on this. That could help allot of people.
hey i recently bought a HP from walmart and was gonna put a sound card in but i just noticed that it doesnt have any place to put one! What do i do now?
I bought a 5.1 speaker system the other day, but when I choose 5.1 setting on sound settings, nothing special happens, it still keeps on being 2.1. Even if I choose anything else, nothing changes. Any idea why? Could it be the sound card?
@WillFromFinland I had a friend who installed an expensive card and had the same problem he had a conflict with some dvd player software trying to control the card, try uninstalling the control panel for the card and let windows control it. or uninstall any dvd player software and see if it works or upgrade windows media player to the latest version.
Just bought a nice sound card that is decent for gaming and some movies and usual pc stuff. (Im no audiphile) And I was wondering if I still dont hear sound do I need to disable the onboard sound card? Through bios or will the computer prioritize the new sound card over the onboard one?
how do i tell if i need to download a driver or if my processor itself need an actuall card i got it used and i dont know why it wont play any sounds or music

can you get the Sub-Out on a 5.1/7.1 card to just use low frequency audio rather than using full frequency sent to a speaker with a built-in Crossover?
Not trying to be rude, But you should sub the video so people could read whats being said. the video is about Installing a sound card. It's kinda hard to do that without knowing what it is your saying.
doing things like this always creeped me the hell out, i never wanted to takeoff the pc cover and mess around with the things. but thanks for the tut.
I just built a PC and I'm having problems with my sound (on board sound) it says "No audio output device is installed" I have installed the latest drivers and tried just about everything.

Great instructions you gave me :)..but i still have one question.
Do i still need to uninstall my previous sound card drivers? dumb question but i wanna be sure before i install anything.

i have plans of buying the ASUS Xonar Essence STX which has a PCI that differs from the ones that you have shown. I guess its the difference between PCI-X1 and normal PCI?

Thanks a lot for posting this video. I've had my computer in and out of the shop 2 times and they didn't fix my sound problem. I just took a sound card out of an old computer and put it in and now everything works fine.
what if you want to have multiple sound cards can they be different or will things be messed up or should i try to get all same sound cards because i want to hook up 3 sets of speakers each one is 5.1
@BetaFlux if the soundcard stick out the back then does that mean if you want to use headphones you have to plug the jack for the headphones in the back instead of the front??
This looks very cool. I want to make a pc and am sourcing my parts through the internet. I was wondering if using a magnetic screw driver wud be a bad idea, as the magnetism can cause the circuit to mess up. Or am I thinking too into it lol. Because all I have are magnetic screw drivers, so my question is, wud I need to buy normal (non-magnetic) screw drivers when screwing components together? Thank you for your time!
@zamant88 It is true that magnetics can disrupt some components. But that is only magnetic sensitive things. Like recordings on Tape or a programmable chip. Like the cmos in a motherboard. Your hard drive is sensitive to magnetism, but it would take a huge powerful magnet to mess it up. the magnetic strength of a screwdriver is not strong enough to hurt it.
@hobbitburcht If I understand your problem correctly It is coming from your speakers that you hear the echo after you stop the music.
If that is right then that is a cheap set of speakers with to little of magnets in them and they pick up white noise, Mine do that too. if it is an echo that you hear while the music is playing then that could be your mic power is to high.
what was the price and model of that PCI Sound Card you installed, also is that a Dell Dimension 2400 ( I own one), but the integrated sound card on the motherboard no longer works and I need the proper sound card for audio.
@129820 I'm not sure about the details of the devices I used in this video it was awhile ago, but you can get a cheap audio card from (tigerdirect) or (newegg) (dot)com fro about $10.00 or more and it will work fine for most applications
The internal sound card in my motherboard has good and working line-in and line-out jacks but for some reason the microphone jack isn't working. I've tried changing the boost and unmuting it but it still won't work. It even comes with a green check mark in my Windows 7 sound recording tab in the control panel. My motherboard is a 945GCT-M/1333. This goes for all microphones as well, I tried replacing the microphone I have now and still nothing... I've even changed it from mono to stereo.
@orcus12345 You might be able to plug your mic into the line in jack and the sound control panel will pick it up.
I have also noticed sometimes that the control panel that comes with the motherboard card and windows do not like each other I have made mine work in the past by uninstalling the control panel and sometimes the card and let windows reinstall the driver, that will set it up for sure to use the windows default settings.
@BetaFlux Well I tried plugging the mic into the line-in jack but nothing happened. I think I'll just buy a PCI sound card like the one in your video since that seems like it'll work for sure but how do you uninstall the control panel and card? And also, if I did that would it guarantee my mic jack to work? Because I don't want to mess up those jacks anymore. Nice videos by the way, keep it up.
@orcus12345 Hmm... Well I tried what you said about uninstalling and then reinstalling the card but nothing happened to the microphone jack. I guess I'll just buy a new sound card and hope that works. Thanks for trying to help anyways.
@RandomPokemonX3 Try running a system restore back to when your audio was still working, see if that helps. or go to the manufactures website of who made your pc and look fro new drivers under support.
is that on a bathroom towel?....yaaaaa...brobably not a good idea with the ESD and all...just saying if your gona do an install vid it shoild be on something that cases ESD...think about it
ok thanks but do u think its because i i run the cord from the aux at the back of the system to the jack plug thats why it have to work with the headphone jack? my system only have the 2 aux jack so i i get a rca cord and make the conenection its just a simple system i`m in the process of buying a 5 channel sourrond system.....and can u tell me please where i can get the manual to download on the website it says it comes witha a manual but none was in the pagckage(sabrent 6 channel soundcard)
i install a sabrent 6 channel sound card its working but i notice that 2 jack for speakers 1 for mike 1 anolog and one for headphone, i dont have a 5 speaker system as yet but i have a 2 speaker system i`m trying to use the jack for the speakers but i realize that it can only play throuhg the headphone jack why is that so... help me please
@MultiLincs The sound card should have come with a control panel, you will have to go into that and in there it will let you choose to run 2.1 sound or 5.1 or whatever. select 2.1 and the jacks will set themselves accordingly.
i have installed a soundcard, properly grounded and stuff and when i try to install the drivers i get BSOD.....why?? Windows says it is unknown in device manager..... PLZ HELP!!
@18phenom Are you sure you have the proper drivers for your operating system? also make sure the sound card is plugged in to the motherboard slot properly.
goto the manufacturers website of who made your sound card and make sure you have the latest driver.
@BetaFlux hey thank for the reply!!! I left the card in the pc for a while ( with the pc on ),and after a couple mins windows 7 got the correct drivers automatically, and it worked!!!!! SO THANKS BetaFlux and thank you windows 7!!
i noticed you didnt show the windows actually finding the driver in the CD at the end of the video. i bet that even after you specified the folder, it didnt find the driver.
happens to me ALL THE TIME. most annoying thing in the world. its like a windows disease.
the pci epress x32 is for graphics cards! Thats the fastest way to link up a video card to your pc! There are also pci graphics card but there much slower and at the day no one uses them ;)
I dont get your first question! can you explain it better?
Sorry i made a mistake!! x16 is for graphics cards and x32!? I never hered of that before ;)
I get your first question! Open up your pc and see if there is a black slot a little bit bigger than your white pci slots! The black one should be a pci e x16 slot. A pci e x16 slot also have a clip on the right side!
i have a sound card that i got out of another computer but i don't have the CD to install it. the model number is SBT-SP6C do you have any suggestions?
ok i need help. I installed windows 7, now my sound is gone. i got a new sound card "Sound Blaster Live" And my pc doesnt detect it, i made sure its in properly and everything. im going insane, ive been trying to figure it out for a week now. When i go into device manager to search for new hardware it says nothing, and when i try to update my drivers it says that it couldnt!!!!! please help
You may need the INF motherboard drivers for the pci slots to work properly, win 7 will give you the basic drivers, go to the manufactures web site of who made your pc or motherboard and look under support and downloads for new drivers.
ok so guess what, apparently the company that carries that sound card dropped support for it. Fuck my life. I have to buy another new one. ill go with turtle beach since they actually take care of their costumers.
Even if that card is not supported, it should still show up in device manager and win 7 should give you a default driver. you are probably needing the drivers for the motherboard.
i have recording software, but it tells me recording isnt possible unless i install a better sound card, if i buy a midi controller that plugs in vai usb, will i still need a new sound card? please i need your help!
You might just need to update your sound audio driver, not a new card. try going to the manufacturers web site of who made your pc and look under support and downloads for a new driver.
hey please join in my site w w w (dot) manobook (dot) ning (dot) com
i need members u can (chat, videochat play games like texsas holdem poker, smallworld create groups, events, connect with other peoples tips...and more) its FREE!!!!
Uninstall the software if you have previously installed it. also disable or uninstall the previous software for your other sound device. make sure the new card is plugged in good
you would have to goto the manufacturers website of who made your computer and look under support and downloads, you will find the drivers you need for your motherboard, sound and video
When I installed Vista on my computer I bought a new sound card. I installed the necessary drivers and threw the box out. Now I've installed Windows 7 but I don't remember what the name of the sound card is. I tried opening the harddisc and looking at the chip and at first glimpse I don't see a name. So how do i find out what brand it is so I can install the drivers?
hey, ive got an SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio [CC80] and wen i play any sound on my computer it sounds as if there is no bass and the audio is fuzzy and distorted and it sounds very similiar to a sub that has been blown. id be very much appreciated if this could be a repairable amtter and if u could help me.
also i am 100% sure that it is not my speakers that are broken for i have tested it with myu ipod and put earphones into the computer and trhe same noise happpens.
Not sure what to tell you on that one, maybe go into the control panel for your sound card and see if you can change the settings. or uninstall it and reinstall it again. SB are tricky sometimes. I know I have actually stopped using mine because it is so touchy.
i uninstalled and reinstaaled the sound card and even took it out of my mother board and back in but, it didnt seem to solve the problem. so im gonna go with getting a new sound card and hope that will work also,
so thanks for your help anyway it was much appreciated :)
average junkie im in your boat . I had a guy put me a new soundcard in creative . and it had popping static noises . then i found an article posted by the moderator on the creative thread X-Fi Crackling/Popping Noises thread . they are having issues with their soundcards not working in many computers . just my luck to
Question on sound cards . Can I just go online and buy any sound card I want and put it in computer or is their more to it than that. such as it must be a certain model number or not every sound card works with every pc ?
First try running a system restore, go back a few days before this happen. or go into device manager and see if you can reinstall the driver for your sound.
When you are in device manager it should tell you a name of your sound device. right click on your sound device and choose update driver, let it search online for a new one, or try choosing uninstall, then when you restart it will reinstall it for you. system restore is found by, right click on My Computer and choose Properties, then under the System tab you should see system restore.
Thanks for this video -- Will this work if your original sound chip is defective? That is, do I have to somehow disable or remove the defective chip before I can install a new card? Thanks
if you hit F1 or F2 or DEL when you first turn it on, that will take you to the bios menu, in the you will find the option to turn off or disable on board sound.

@orcus12345 Hmm... Well I tried what you said about uninstalling and then reinstalling the card but nothing happened to the microphone jack. I guess I'll just buy a new sound card and hope that works. Thanks for trying to help anyways.
orcus12345 1 year ago
@orcus12345 Do one last thing and try the mic in a different pc to make sure it is good,
look for a cheap card on ebay, you should get something good for under $20.00

ok thanks but do u think its because i i run the cord from the aux at the back of the system to the jack plug thats why it have to work with the headphone jack? my system only have the 2 aux jack so i i get a rca cord and make the conenection its just a simple system i`m in the process of buying a 5 channel sourrond system.....and can u tell me please where i can get the manual to download on the website it says it comes witha a manual but none was in the pagckage(sabrent 6 channel soundcard)
MultiLincs 1 year ago
i install a sabrent 6 channel sound card its working but i notice that 2 jack for speakers 1 for mike 1 anolog and one for headphone, i dont have a 5 speaker system as yet but i have a 2 speaker system i`m trying to use the jack for the speakers but i realize that it can only play throuhg the headphone jack why is that so... help me please
MultiLincs 1 year ago
@MultiLincs The sound card should have come with a control panel, you will have to go into that and in there it will let you choose to run 2.1 sound or 5.1 or whatever. select 2.1 and the jacks will set themselves accordingly.

whats the small black card slot i found on the bottom of the slots for the cards inside my computer computer,,?,,
burster8boostar 2 years ago
very very smal? Than it should be a pci express x1
runedegroot 2 years ago
are the computers 5 years old xp verson use a PCI express 16 slot? and whats the 32x pci express slot for
burster8boostar 2 years ago
the pci epress x32 is for graphics cards! Thats the fastest way to link up a video card to your pc! There are also pci graphics card but there much slower and at the day no one uses them ;)
I dont get your first question! can you explain it better?
runedegroot 2 years ago
Sorry i made a mistake!! x16 is for graphics cards and x32!? I never hered of that before ;)
I get your first question! Open up your pc and see if there is a black slot a little bit bigger than your white pci slots! The black one should be a pci e x16 slot. A pci e x16 slot also have a clip on the right side!

ok i need help. I installed windows 7, now my sound is gone. i got a new sound card "Sound Blaster Live" And my pc doesnt detect it, i made sure its in properly and everything. im going insane, ive been trying to figure it out for a week now. When i go into device manager to search for new hardware it says nothing, and when i try to update my drivers it says that it couldnt!!!!! please help
Livasyandrew 2 years ago
You may need the INF motherboard drivers for the pci slots to work properly, win 7 will give you the basic drivers, go to the manufactures web site of who made your pc or motherboard and look under support and downloads for new drivers.
BetaFlux 2 years ago
ok so guess what, apparently the company that carries that sound card dropped support for it. Fuck my life. I have to buy another new one. ill go with turtle beach since they actually take care of their costumers.
Livasyandrew 2 years ago
Even if that card is not supported, it should still show up in device manager and win 7 should give you a default driver. you are probably needing the drivers for the motherboard.
BetaFlux 2 years ago
i have recording software, but it tells me recording isnt possible unless i install a better sound card, if i buy a midi controller that plugs in vai usb, will i still need a new sound card? please i need your help!
garageXguitarXworks 2 years ago
You might just need to update your sound audio driver, not a new card. try going to the manufacturers web site of who made your pc and look under support and downloads for a new driver.

When I installed Vista on my computer I bought a new sound card. I installed the necessary drivers and threw the box out. Now I've installed Windows 7 but I don't remember what the name of the sound card is. I tried opening the harddisc and looking at the chip and at first glimpse I don't see a name. So how do i find out what brand it is so I can install the drivers?

turn your pc off and pull the card out, it will have it stamped on the card.

Not sure what to tell you on that one, maybe go into the control panel for your sound card and see if you can change the settings. or uninstall it and reinstall it again. SB are tricky sometimes. I know I have actually stopped using mine because it is so touchy.
BetaFlux 2 years ago
i uninstalled and reinstaaled the sound card and even took it out of my mother board and back in but, it didnt seem to solve the problem. so im gonna go with getting a new sound card and hope that will work also,

i think it's deleted or somthing but how can i find the name of my sound card?
vampyrlord23 2 years ago
First try running a system restore, go back a few days before this happen. or go into device manager and see if you can reinstall the driver for your sound.
BetaFlux 2 years ago
Okay can u tell me how to run a system restore, i have tried to go on device manager and reinstall it says that i cant install the hard ware.
send me a message if u want my email.
vampyrlord23 2 years ago
When you are in device manager it should tell you a name of your sound device. right click on your sound device and choose update driver, let it search online for a new one, or try choosing uninstall, then when you restart it will reinstall it for you. system restore is found by, right click on My Computer and choose Properties, then under the System tab you should see system restore.

could be your receiver is not compatible with your speakers, or the card is not strong enough. you could try updating the drivers for your card.
